Yeah i bought a starter kit paintset cause it came with a brush and a bunch of common paints used to make some pretty badass schemes. only costed me 25 bucks.
comes with a small painting guide i think.
For Geese:
The Eldar are specialists. they definitely have a fucking hit and run style of play and you need to focus on getting your tier 2 units fast. do not overtech and its a must that you get fleet of foot early. you cap faster and it makes harrassment / Dancing easier to hold off your enemies till you tech to better units.
just nabbed the 2nd gotrek and felix omnibus. Man, i love these books. I really hope that dwarf’s in the mmo can take the slayer oath Anyway, you guys know of any stores selling the Tau army box still? guess i should try ebay huh?
Good fucking shit D!!! that spot can get me some vehicles for alot cheaper.
today i got a new pellet sniper rifle, so i took one of my most horrible paint jobs ever, im talking paint stack on in layers of thick glue like chunks.
Unfortunately hes back with the “Emperor” now if you know what i mean.
wish i had a vid of me sniping the crap out of him.
God, why can’t I find all my Epic stuff? Insanity.
Oh snap, I’m gonna be getting the hook up with Rogue Trader, that’s right ids, Warhammer 40k 1st edition, sometime this week. I’ve never played it, as I started when 2nd came out, but I’ve always heard it was just plain wacky, so I’m stoked about nuking the site from orbit and such in a game. Also, the fluff was a lot different back then, so I’m interested in seeing the fluff in its original form.
i was more thinking about starting a tyranid army and just using the marines as practice
as for my 'nid color scheme i was thinking white skin with boltgun metal colored plating. like my hive fleet somehow figured out how to convert necron “living metal” into usable biomass.
Robin Williams plays Warhammer 40K…I’m not totally surprised.
Single-player campaigns for DC are no joke. I started off with the Tau, and I’m constantly being attacked, and getting my ass handed to me when I try to knock a race off. Like against Orks, I’ll survive 1st rush. get some FW’s on deck, 2 groups of Kroots cannabalizing, and S15’s taking points. As soon as I take a point…gangrape by Orks. So I’m pretty much just sitting at my own base slowly getting reqs and power.
I’ve got an entire Nid army from 3rd that I haven’t cracked open. I had stored it away when the store in my hometown closed, but now I’ve finally moved my Bitz box over here since a store opened up, and low and behold, I’ve got me some bugs! I’ll hafta pick up the 4th codex and see what I can do with them. We need a Nid army around here.
Bolter n Chainsword is a very good site, but only for Power-Armor armies (of which there is no shortage).
www.warseer.com Is a great site, even has an area where they are making their own Space Marine chapter for the website, and people reserve a Marine name and a slot in a squad in one of the company’s, and highly convert the model and give it fluff. They’re hoping to have a display army that basically is nothing but characters, with every Marine having a name and backstory. It sounds a little ridiculous, but very cool nonetheless.
Just finished all the Horus Heresy novels in about two weeks. They were very good, Abnett especially, but what else would you expect. The Horus Heresy is sort of a strange issue for me. I mean, it’s cool that they’re making the fluff more specific, but half the fun of 40k’s fluff is how vague some parts are, leaving the universe open to interpretation. They are supposedly canon, but many see it as just one view of the Horus Heresy, not the literal fact.
I’m going to get my soon-to-be-wife to get me those new Marine Terminators. I love the kit, but GOD are they expensive.
I used to play Eldar and Skaven for a time, and am still a fan of the universe, but…the quality of the writing, and especially the rules has really slipped through the cracks in the past decade. I’m not impressed, and have gone elsewhere for my games. Prices through the roof haven’t helped either.
If anyone’s interested, I’d give SRK people a good deal on the figures I’ve got left, just drop me a PM. If there’s any interest I’ll make a trading forum thread too.
As for what’s cool these days, I still play Mordheim (not a TERRIBLE ruleset, still fairly bad), Battlefleet Gothic (reasonably good space battles ruleset, set in the 40k universe), Warmachine (www.privateerpress.com - much more feature-complete game than GW’s offerings), and some of my homebrews. Being a university student doing research in game development processes, you get a lot of exposure to this stuff.
For the sci-fi fans, I’ve heard a lot of good things about a game called Infinity, as well. There’s also rumoured to be a new Mutant Chronicles coming next year, though it’s ugh collectible.
