You can see the conversion on that last one. They weren’t originally holding weapons. (I’ll clean up the bolt pistol).

Freaking Awesome

Wow, nice stuff Blank! What’s the list look like?

I just finished a few more stands of Space Marines for Epic this morning. I’m churning them out factory style. I’m going for a very old school look, with the old square bases (not the rectangular ones they have now), the old thunderhawks, the old rogue trader-era land raiders, and some old 2nd edition-esque rhinos. It’s going to have a really cool feel, and (like every game EXCEPT mainline 40k) it will be a tough army to play that accurately fits the fluff. I’m even trying to come up with some goofy Rogue Trader/2nd Ed fluff for the chapter, like the ‘Space Vipers’ or something. It’s good stuff. Can’t wait to start that IG army either…

Oh. Dear. Sweet. God. The rumor mill is in full swing right now, as someone allegedly got their hands on the new 40k Ork codex that’s coming out in January…and GOD it sounds awesome! VERY much the 2nd edition incarnation of orks, which means they’re an assault army with tons of dakka to back up the lads, all of it very random and very flavorful. Unlike the 3rd book, which was more ‘green nids’ than true Orky goodness. I’ll prolly end up starting the green tide I always wanted.

hehe my army consists of

12 Khorne Berserkers, a squad of 8 Chaos Marines, 3 Chaos Marine bikes and a Chaos Rhino with smoke grenade launcher. 1 is an Aspiring Champion. I also got a Kharn somewhere but i couldn’t find it. Now i need to find a place to store all my army in.

Dude im so pissed off though because check out the new Battle Force set they are going to release

Either Way im still happy. My buddy is working on his Eldar Army so yeah i cant wait till he finishes so we can start playing.

Seems like a nice solid core. What direction are you going? Shooty or choppy? Or…dare I say…a mix?

I’m looking into Blood Bowl, and regretting that I got rid of all my old stuff years ago. God, I love this game, and the new metal teams they’ve released are killer. Look at this! http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=303150&orignav=300811&ParentID=255000&GameNav=300808

Hawt.

Dude blood bowl looks interesting. It reminds me of Mutant League Football. so how do you play this blood bowl game?

I haven’t played in a long time. It’s been since…(checking Wiki) 3rd edition. It’s currently in its 5th edition which, much like all Specialist Games now, is a Living Ruleset, aka it’s free and online and the community updates it while GW basically doesn’t touch it.

I don’t know how the rules function now, but 3rd was a blast. Essentially each person had a team composed of linemen, catchers, pitchers, blitzers, etc. that would change up depending on race. There were no “downs” so to speak. Each person set up in one half of the field, and there was a kickoff. Whenever a player tried to gain possession (be it the bouncing kickoff ball, a pass they were trying to receive, a fumble, whatever) it was a big deal, cause if you got it, you could do your entire turn until you were out of move points/action points, but if you FAILED to grab it, even if that’s the first thing you tried in a turn, your turn was over, and it was your opponent’s turn. Any figure could try any action, so a lineman could try to pass, but each position had different stats so, naturally, pitchers were better at throwing, catchers were better at grabbing the ball (no homo), etc.

It was a fast, murderous game. Essentially the “blood” in Blood Bowl is the violence of the players. Weapons are not allowed, but if you pull one out and start hacking at a guy, there’s a good chance you’ll kill him, and a good chance the ref will throw your player in the penalty box for it. There were tons of dirty tricks and mayhem, and it’s really a blast to play.

Much like Mordheim and Necromunda in that it has an extensive experience/money system, so it is designed for league games (aka “campaigns”). My friends and I did one once, and God is it fun. Favorite characters die, your most hated arch rival becomes a grizzled, pissed off vet, rivalries form…ah, good times.

DEFINITELY give the rules a read. Heck, they’re free.

Man this free rules thing is cool but wtf you still gotta buy the stuff from GW though right?

Well, if you want to play in tournies, yes.

With most Specialist Games, you don’t have to buy GW minis unless you want to play in official tournies. Thing is, with Blood Bowl…where else are you gonna find Fantasy Football minis?

Just returned from a large Indy tournament held here in California, I have never been to a major before. I was mostly spectating and rooting for my good friend who had brought a specialized TK list, my newer wood elf models are far from being completed. Each battle had a different scenario and terrain rules, 2250 point lists and 5 total rounds.

My friend plays a very shooty/magic heavy list and is led by Tomb Queen Khalida. Strangely enough it was the only TK army present in the tournament out of 60 entrants. It can be very effective due to the poison arrow rules and the flexibility of the light cav archers that he runs. It is very light in terms of combat, there is only one tomb guard unit included. It has no chariots, heavy cav, or any other hand-to-hand infantry. He ran 3 tomb scorpions and one skull catapult. It usually catches opponents off guard since they expect the usual chariot/heavy cav lists that TK’s typically bring.

His opponents and results:

Round 1 - Wood Elves / Small Victory --Pitched Battle
Round 2 - Lizardmen / Massacre(army wipe) --Form the Line
Round 3 - Daemonic Legion Nurgle / Draw --Pitched Battle
Round 4 - Daemonic Legion Nurgle / Draw --Take the Objective
Round 5 - Daemonic Legion Slaanesh/ Maybe it was undivided actually? / Major Loss(army wipe/concede) --Headhunt

Totals 2-1-2

Fairly mediocre results, he felt very confident going in with a chance to take best general. He has attended GW GT’s in the past with virtually the same list and has done very well. I still believe that Slaanesh/Brets are his worst matchups, but he still insists that he can win versus those lists consistently. The Slaanesh opponent had dragon ogres in combat with him in turn 1 due to a shadow movement spell - that game look lost from the get-go. He also took a lot of flak for running a “keep-away” list. I found that to be interesting - points earned from army composition and sportsmanship are never high when he runs this type of list. Do you guys find that you need to please your opponents in tournament play? It seems that just running a tactical list doesn’t earn you a lot of respect these days.

I saw this on Relicnews…

I’m not sure if it’s legit…but I went to the source site, and saw that Relic has some announcements coming.

Holy fuck if this is true…

Raises chain axe MORE BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!

All info leads to being true.
Since I subscribe to GFW…I’ll wait for the issue to come out and look.

Wow a Warhammer thread…never thought I’d see that on SRK. I haven’t boughten anything from GW in like…a year, shit is expensive.

I have tidbits of every fantasy army, but my main’s are Dark Elves, Wood Elves and pure Gobbo’s. Sometimes I use my Chaos Dwarfs when I want some humor.

40k I haven’t played in a few years but with the Orks releasing later this year/ early next year I will have some games.

I’m mostly into Heroclix, UFS and Hordes/Warmachine these days.

Impact minis has quite a lot of fantasy football miniatures, shadowforge used to as well (may still do)
those are the bigger ones off the top of my head who are alternatives to official bloodbowl
Sidenote just noticed the WH thread so woohoo
I need to finish off my orks for the new dex (glad i started shooty back in the day)

so what major changes do they have for the new ork kodekz?Q!!?!!
