focus backdash depends on the deepness of the jump-in. Akuma has a very average type of dash.
if he sweeps after you focus backdash then it depends on how quickly he sweeps as to being able to block it or not. but generally he can land it on a deep hit.
ppl mash throw that much after a jump in??
but generally the focus is not a good choice (character dependent). If someone jumps in outside of throw range then feel free to focus if you really want… but its not reallya good thing. Blocking and then teleporting after blocking tends to usually work really well as ppl get caught up in their block stun mix-ups and aren’t able to react fast enough with something like demon to catch you… but thats block THEN teleport out once block stun wears off.
and of course if they jump with you having enough time to srk or c.hp those are your best options.
p.s- definitely know the finals time feeling. Been holed up in my room over the weekend and didn’t even get to watch the florida-alabama game I probably crippled my hand from writing 60 pages of notes and a total of about 400 flashcards for my three classes…lol.
i use KKK for the sweep in the tatsu sweep. It helps a little bit. But for whatever reason I find the tatsu sweep the largest akuma related thing for me to do on a controller by far. (doesn’t hep the bumper button is messed up because of fighting games…lol). But the timing is relatively weird on the smaller hitbox characters that don’t have as much air time when you tatsu them. So the timing will be a little more strick when doing it to most compared to someone like Balrog or Sagat (for some reason balrog floats forever when tatsu’ed).
in short… no… its not just you. But once you start to get that timing down, like anything else, it will start to feel smooth and easy.
As for the date… it really doesn’t matter. There are tons of later “joiners” that know a lot more about fighting games then ppl that created an account 4 or 5 years ago for a different fighting game.
heheh! Vega wouldn’t even be THAT bad if he had some decent wake up options. Too bad he has none so he gets raped by characters with good a good mixup game
thought this prevalent to the vortex (still hate the name but time has dulled the pain) thread if you wanna add it to your list that’s cool…it’s my general strat and is effective. I hate rog so I’ve been (strategerizing) on how to beat him more effectively.
After tatsu sweep on rog (insanely easy in comparison to other characters) I follow the 4 step rule…
1)Does he have ex/have I stuffed a HB with dive kick yet
if yes then Demon Flip palm to break ex dash on wake up
2)If no on 1 then dive kick hit confirm if yes on 1 then demon flip throw
3)If yes on 1 and 2 follow up I do empty jump cLP+cLK->cLP->cLP->LK tatsu->sweep if no on 1 I now do demon flip palm->grab if he ex rushes you (palm breaks it) then go back though the chart all (see if yes on 3) else he either techs/gets thrown/back dashes. Reset your situation.
4) if yes after 3 then cross up tatsu->sweep or dP…
-he should be KO or near KO by this point…Gootecks the fuck out of him and teleport for days until you can finish him…
this has been extremely effective for me. I’ve won the past 2 local tourneys with this as my guide (certain things change for certain characters)
I know for people new to vortex this is crazy but for those looking for rog vortex this does work.
if he’s stuffed a headbutt then the rog will def respect the dive kick and wont try to headbutt again, ergo he goes down the list eliminating rog’s options and mindfucks him
