Am I just imagining it? I’d swear on my grandma’s grave that shit auto corrects everytime without fail, yet Sagat is super free.
what does auto correct mean?
^ Means if you try a crossup, a Ryu will automatically DP in the opposite direction (the direction your akuma will now be in after attempting a crossup attack) when timed correctly even if he did F, D, DF+P (whereas the tv will seem to show B, D, DB+P)
I think Sagat’s 5 frame DP makes his autocorrect not as consistent. Consider AA’ing some jumpins with Ultra. Its 1+4 frames for startup and if you see the opponent’s toes just barely above the floor you’ll miss the ultra. Jumping and falling speed is quite fast and a 3-frame DP and 5-frame DP make a big difference. Maybe I wasn’t deep enough, but my cross tatsu’s have been autocorrected by sagat before.
Does akuma auto correct consistently just as well?
My Akuma rarely ever Auto corrects. =/
The trick is to perform the dragon punch motion as you’re waking up but don’t press punch until its clear what side your opponent is on. With practice this will begin to make sense. The input is essentially buffered and the button press commits the SRK to a specific direction.
Of course, this often hinges on your opponent timing his cross-up attack well which in a way lends itself to you exploiting the delayed punch input that yields the ‘corrected’ SRK.
At least, this is how I take advantage of this.
Cammy auto-corrects the most imo
f,d,df~db+p. best way to do it.
I remember reading this too. You jiggle the stick db~df and press P at the right time.
I’ll try this a shot.
Until now i’ve been “buffering” the srk motion and pressing punch at the last possible second and i’m having mixed results with this method. Then I see a friend of mine who uses ryu and gets an auto correct 90% of the times using the same method so maybe it’s just me
How about when you are doing cross-up shennanigans with the super vs ultra demon?
I was messing around in training with this and found it wasn’t consistent which move came out, I wonder if it’s anything to do with when you pass over the person and when you do the inputs? I suppose jab jab on the way up then pressing back or forward must be ambiguous depending on if you are past them or not?
Same with trying to anti-air demon a cross-up… I suppose I don’t often have both super and ultra on hand, but I’m curious to know what makes it work. Almost impossible to pull that move off anyway, but it’s pretty badass when you manage it for cross-happy opponents.
guys- I’m finding you can really abuse some characters with right-on-wakeup demonflip throw, especially in the corner. I saw it in one of the gief videos posted in the video thread and gave it a whirl. It completely confounded an abel and a gief I played last night… what are the options for the opponents if you time it right, ie so they don’t have time to dash or neutral jump?
Basically, once you get one… backdash once, wait a tiny bit, medim kick demonflip in to throw right as their stand-up animation happens.
…they can do any reversal…that gief could have mashed lariat, any shoto can dp you and so on.
It’s a good surprise tactic but it should’t be abused
I’ve been playing like hell and practicing the vortex like hell.
After 1300 matches with akuma online and a bunch of them offline with my friends i’m finally starting the get the vortex down and to get the time of the option select c.lk down. I’m getting thrown way less than before when i did palm wifh c.lk/lp.
Been noticing the the secret is to delay the button presses.
Just wanted to share the happiness. <D
On the Exploding Heart Technique…
Have any new discoveries been made as to what can be shut down by it other than the ones loltima graciously listed already?
Nope. I think thats about it. try going into training mode and finding out…
I need to do a revamp of the OP a bit, and when I do I will go through and test some junk out. There definitely are more though, I’m sure of that. I was doing it on Honda when he didn’t have meter and it seemed to work there, but that honda could have just sucked.
I don’t know where to ask but oh well.
I have a bad habit of FAing HK jumpins and releasing. And as typical combos go: opponent will j.HK, cr.mk xx Fb or sweep. This can be usually countered as a level 2 crumple or is blocked.
Now however, I’m using focus much less now as I’m realizing how dangerous it is to use as an AA since shotos will j.HK > SRK or throw; so what I’m wondering is:
If I FA and backdash:
- will the SRK whiff (ie Ryu) (Ken’s has far enough reach?)
- his throw should whiff. Sweep punishable
- Will I get caught with his subsequent sweep
Or Just
4. Forget FA. Block.
5. SRK
6. Cr.HP
No sf4 with me at the moment. Finals time baby!
Akuma has the best mix up in the game. I have to give it to you, this has restored my interest in Akuma.
:u:I’d say he has one of the best, next to Viper’s.
On topic, I can do some character test Loltima if you’d like.
The best AA is to just SRK him out of the effin’ air. FA I found to be non-reliable as an AA. I usually get spam DP’d after the FA, or the focus gets blocked after the guy lands.
