I saw those R matches that were linked to. WTF Sega. That Vanessa was looking might fine.
Don’t lose hope! It’s about all we have left…
lol, yeah. The thing with Kuro is that he’s only a ‘threat’ to Hibana, Hisui, and Joe and that’s because they actually have to take a substantial amount of time to beat him.
You’re absolutely right about Joe taking forever to beat bosses; I did a against him with Joe on Stage-13 a little while ago since no-one else did: but he’s not so much hard, just takes forever. I’m going to do it on hard with Hibana as fast as I can a bit later and that’s going to take even longer, because you have to build up so much chakra with hibana for his second form - my current time is around 8’ minutes (!) with her.
But it doesn’t bother Hotsuma at all, lmao:
However, certain stages do treat Hotsuma like shit though; its impossible to get S-Rank on Stage-12 with Hotsuma; stage-4 sucks for him as well.
WTF? Don’t tell me they’ve brought her back to VF4 levels of pwnage.
I don’t think my jeff can take it.
Let me get this straight- We don’t get 5R but we got ?
No she’s not as strong anymore, which to me blows. In R she’s very solid though. She’s suffered all throughout VF5 vanilla, and in R she finally got NECESSITIES to play well in VF5’s metagame. VF at it’s fundamental level is extremely balanced at it’s core, but VF5’s particular metagame was very unfavorable for Sarah risk/reward in comparison to everyone else in the cast. Things like some failed hitboxes making things whiff and lacking certain properties, I just lump all of this into the risk factor. Basically when you play as Sarah in regular VF5 you try to force the game to old school, or bet on randoming your opponent out in flamingo. She’s VERY “yomi” reliant, very.
Jacky suffered too, but his is more on the lack of reward, but he can be played pretty low risk though.
With R being released, all of us that played particular characters like every single tweak that has been made in problematic things.
So it was almost as if vanilla 5 was one huge beta test(I think these are the words of Jeneric), and now, the rest of the world outside of Japan can’t play the complete product.
To go further indepth to what Slide said, basically sarah Flamingo was weak, she didn’t really have anything cheap, and she had to basically put herself at risk far more during nitaku and other advantagous situations in order to get the same outcome as every one else.
Sarah is an offensive character without access to a low throw so obviously she needs ways to deal some damage and pressure off her mids without putting herself in the doghouse and she really doesn’t have that in VF5.
Example:
You hit low punch (mc or normal doesn’t matter)
If you know your opponent is going to attack back the ideal move is a combo start.
For Sarah the only move there is serpent cannon or maybe dragon cannon, problem is they are both very unsafe if blocked or evaded.
For Jacky you can do 2_3P (safe), Vanessa OS can do 3P (safe), Aoi can do 2_3P+K (safe) and hit confirm to P to combo, Brad can do 6K or 2_3P (both safe) and the list goes on. In a lot of these cases the characters with the safe combo starts get just as much if not more dmg then sarah AND their combos aren’t stance specific like Sarah’s.
Her FL is weak because FL K doesn’t give you PK anymore on CH like in VF4. If you are good at struggle and have decent reactions FL can be mitigated dramatically. Everytime something is blocked in flamingo you either eat a launcher/throw or pray side step attack dodges whatever they throw out.
Her side throw sucks, her back throw leaves you grounded and if you can break f and db successfully you can really limit her throw damage.
Well Sega and AM2 were working on Taka-Arashi’s hitboxes, wireframes, and character model during the last couple months of VF5’s development. Jean and Taka-Arashi were already decided upon before VF5 version A even hit arcades. Sega definitely knew that VF5 Vanilla would be outdated by a future revision.
How they didn’t plan a console port is incredible lame. :lame:
Not to ride the Sarah Train? Or maybe I want to ride the Sarah Train?
But VF5R wise, Her flamingo parry move can parry low kicks and low punches. She seems to have quite a good guessing game from flamingo with a quick mid, low, kick, kick catch throw from Flamingo. Expert players are having trouble guessing her in Flamingo stance with is good.
In VF5, though FL was ok but had some major weaknesses. She lacked a quick relatively safe mid from FL and her low parry only parries low punches. And you add to that with Fuzzy Guard.
I could be wrong though, I haven’t played VF5 in a good bit though. With VF5R not coming out , I am mostly interested in T6:BR.
Everytime I come into this thread, I have hopes that Sega finally announces a console port of 5:R.
This whole thread is one big cocktease. Especially 5:R Sarah.
She had summersault in FL, which is as fast most mids get, at 14f, but it’s -31 on guard.
Yep I forgot about that one but I probably forgot about it since is it very unsafe.
Sarah is a little whore in 5R That’s the character I hate to play against the most
I saw the Hotsuma one quite a while ago lol. Nice Joe run. Was cool to watch. I doubt anyone would do a much better job beating the time lol. Took longer with Hibana than Joe? Wow. Good shit though man.
sorry, a little information:

Yeah I wouldn’t count on it. Now that the fighting game renaissance has officially taken place with SFIV a new version of VF would make little to no money at all. Especially with Tekken 6 coming out in a couple months. That’s basically going to be the second coming of SFIV sales and hype wise. Dual system Tekken is going to have people going nuts and not giving a rats ass about VF. Sucks cuz I like VF better too.
Same thing happened with VF4. They released the first game…sales were good cuz it was unique and looked good on the PS2 at the time. Then tried to release VF4 Evo right after and Sony accidentally labeled it as a Greatest Hits game so the game was released for 20 dollars in the US. Which means the game probably still sold a decent amount of copies but at 20 dollars the profit they made off of it was decreased substantially. Then they came out with Final Tuned which at that point wasn’t going to sell in the US or Japan at all. Especially when there was nothing new but balance tweaks and the game would have to be sold at 20 dollars for anyone in the US to even look at it.
If VFR does get a console release it’s probably only going to be released in Japan. Tekken 6 will kill any chance of the game making a real profit in the US. Especially if they don’t advertise the hell out of it. Americans will give up on VF again once the Namco great arrives. Especially a multi platform version of the game. Just forget it…
Final Tuned added more stuff than just balance tweaks; for example being able to choose your avatar like in VF5, more customization, remixed stages again, different interface and some new songs, and the ability to choose some of your command moves from past VF4s (even vanilla ver.C). Perhaps not enough to warrent a new game, but would have been great to perhaps release it as some sort of upgrade disc to EVO or something.
Also, if they fixed the stupid profile system from EVO (had to keep everyone’s profile on the same memory card as it was a part of the system data - stupid) to Ver. C’s format which mimiced the arcade and allowed you to keep your data to your own memory card and bring it to other’s people’s sessions, that would have warrrented a full blown purchase in my book.
LOL…in America Final Turned would have equaled “Ok…so this is like Evo except there’s no new characters?!! TRASH!!!” That’s basically how Americans would look at it. No new characters or game modes = no new nothing. New songs and being able to choose moves…most people who bought VF4 don’t even remember the move changes from game to game.
The only people that would have bought Final Tuned would be hardcore VFers like yourself and that’s like 3 people.
People would buy it if there were endings and cut scenes.
“OMG… So Dural’s like… Kage’s MOM?!”
$$$
Maybe we should have bought their crappy sonic games?
Some individuals with families of their own, actually bought Final Tuned cabs to put in their house. Some of those same people were willing to actually buy an R setup too, but that’s obviously impossible thanks to SAAAAAYGUUUH (ring ring ching dun duuun dun duuuuuun duun dun dun dun dun duuun duuuuun)
