^^^^ Proves my point. Desperate nerds doing everything they can to get a playable version of a game anyone else in America would not even think twice about purchasing.
Yeah, as much as I like VF, I don’t think I can ever go that far. It’s a bit like buying a world-class pool table, but the only person you get to play against is yourself.
That’s so sad it’s not even funny.
I wouldn’t call a person with a wife and kids, a desperate nerd.
Furthermore, alot of you guys have probably already spent more than enough loot to buy multiple cabinets, just maintaining this hobby competitively through many different games, consoles, and travel.
You don’t even know how much someone would get paid, or how much money they have to spend.
I’m not going to be the one to call you a hypocrite, though.
I don’t think there’d be a point for someone to purchase a cabinet just to play with it by themselves.
I don’t see how it’s sad really. People tend to fork out more for hobbies or interests. It’s like a piece of furniture that you interact with lol. Also, I know the people here who had FT cabs and they, y’know, played with people.
That was no mistake, Sony America wouldn’t LET Sega sell it at full price because it was considered an expansion. (it sold in Japan at full price and sold worse than the US version at $20…)
So it was either sell it at the greatest hits price level or not sell it at all.
That’s alright if you had a lot of money. Like one of those cribs episodes: “hey guys, I got a home arcade”. But if you bought a fighting game cabinet with the intention of being a world-class tourney player, and then you’ve got nobody to play against… that’s a pretty sad setup.
Now if you did have people to play against, then it’s cool, just like having a top-quality pool table that some decent-level pool players play against you on.
Cool, guys. Go ahead and plunk me in the category of ‘desperate nerds’ becuase I’m saving up for a FT cab too; my VF4 experience will not be quenced until I play that game.
No joke.
Slide…yeah I’m just calling it as if I was from the outside. Putting myself in the role of HaloMaster38423. That’s how everyone else sees it and that’s why VF5R is never coming out on consoles in the US (not expecting a Japan release either). That’s not personally how I feel or otherwise I would have never went to Evo or spent 900 dollars on the console version of SFIV. I know I’m a desperate nerd fuck…LOL. I’m just seeing the big picture which is you having to go to “extremes” with your hobby just to play it with a select set of people. VF5’s chances of growing as a scene or gaining real popularity in the US will be done once T6 hits consoles and that’s sad.
That’s even worse. Well…it was better for my wallet.
I’ll just wait until FT has been emulated.
It’s getting closer. I managed to get PS2 VF4 running at a constant 25FPS and Naomi 2 VF4FT running at a constant 15FPS with no crashes last week. The second those systems can be run at a stable 60FPS we’ll have online VF4/EVO/FT around the corner hopefully.
Yeah, I thought I read somewhere about FT emulation getting better. Still has a while to go though.
When is TGS? This month? Maybe we can get an announcement that 5:FT is coming directly to consoles lol.
September 24th through the 27th…:wasted:
But don’t hope for anything.
Sega has announced the games for TGS. Check out the game in bold…
Oh that’s right, there is no game in bold. No VF.
Fuck a Sega.
…
…
…
EDIT: Taken from kotaku, fair warning.
You really expected the game to come out?
Nah man. It’s over, just hit up some Tekken.
I saw that TGS list, and Sega can go screw themselves!!!
I’m going to Namco!
dayum.
Oh I know. Just that hope that will never fully die. I think it’s gonna turn into a tumor and kill me at some point.
Anyway, I do plan on playing Tekken hardcore. It’s all I got!
Puyo Puyo 7? Really?
I don’t plan to play fighters hardcore anymore, it’s been like this for quite some time now. I’ve got a come what may attitude about all this now.
I’ll just play whatever I feel like it, cause the truth is, most games out are fun to play anyway. I’m no pro, and I won’t ever do or put in whatever it takes to get to that point, even though I have the ability to, and I’m sure you guys do to.
R isn’t coming out, so forget about it. Just get at whatever’s fresh and fun, and try to remain competitive until you don’t want to play anymore or the fun is gone.
Fuck Sega indeed. That’s why there’s Iron Fist.
