I was never really into VF, but I have to say. The replays that you guys have been posting are amazing, not only for animation but also for how much information they give you. I think there was even a frame advantage number shown on screen? That’s amazing and should be in every game.
I know Nightshade really isn’t.
OMG Sarah is so beast in VF5R…
IT’S JUST NOT FAIR!!!
No you don’t.
Shit was mad dull mang.
Cool. Tell us how Shinobi wasn’t.
And try telling me some shit about it being harder (coming from someone who beat in on Super with Hotsuma) and is currently speedrunning Hard mode on Kunoichi and I’ll know you’re BSing me.
The differences between them are incremental; Shinobi has slightly harder enemies but the stages are linear and pose almost no threat in themselves. Kunoichi has easier enemies but the stages are your biggest threat (stage-12 anyone?). Other than that, the combat systems are exactly the same, except Hibana has to deal with ‘armored’ enemies and there is a larger emphasis on air combat. Of course if you play Hotsuma, it doesn’t matter since he slashes through armor.
Never played shinobi; that’s why I couldn’t comment on it. Hell I figured it was, but I just couldn’t say. Perhaps I should’ve mentioned that earlier.
Again I can’t compare the games as I only have one. And I wouldn’t waste my time discussing difficulty with you if you’re going through such great lengths to beat these (mediocre) games under the most difficulty conditions.
Thanks to this part of your post I won’t spend any money on Shinobi. Honestly I got bored with Ninja Gaiden (Sigma), so maybe it’s just me.
My biggest thing is there’s a lot of people saying “the game is bad because it bored me”, and they had trouble going through Easy mode (), or they say, “Shinobi was better” but they can’t say why (when they’re really similar), ie. they’re just dick-riding all the comments when that game released about how incredibly hard it was. Its not hard to understand why I don’t take most Americans opinions about these games seriously when they play them for five minutes and act like they know all about it.
Sound like you just don’t like the games period, or even the genre. Can’t argue with your opinion there.

and with the offtopic: I loved Nightshade, one of the best 20 bones spent on a game. I’m a chump though cause I couldn’t handle the final boss, so I haven’t played it in a few years. Game was too fun though, and had alot of extras(that you had to beat it to get lol).
I can vouch for ironzen. He is from the VF old school. He also took me out in the VF5 Evo East 07 tourney.
Which reminds me that I need to talk to jchensor for the footage.
Never got to play Nightshade, but I can say that Shinobi is one of the most technical/hardcore games to come out of the 3d generation of games. They simply don’t make them like that anymore. And I have no reason to believe that Nightshade wasn’t every bit as hardcore. I also didn’t think Shinobi was dull either, it had nice varied stages and fun music. The linearity of the stages was how they were able to achieve a very oldschool perception while presenting shinobi in 3D which is what made the game so cool. Its sad that more people bought Ninja Gaiden and Sega apparently gave up on continuing the new shinobi games, because they were damn cool.
You aren’t a puss are you? If not, then yes.
You know nothing.
Agreed. Shinobi, Hotsuma and Moritsune had to deeal with harder enemies and time limit from Akujiki draining them. Joe was smooth sailing except he was weaker and on Super mode boss battles took the LONGEST time ever. In Nightshade, Hibana could mosey her cute ass on through. Enemies and bosses were weaksauce, it was just the enemy placement and pit deaths that would kill you. When I got Hotsuma on Nightshade I was like, “This isn’t even fair.” The first time I felt sympathy for a game. Hotsuma in Nightshade was like Jin in T4. Possibly worse.
Nightshade was a bit easier than Shinobi. Given the new circumstances, Hibana didn’t have to constantly worry about feeding Akujiki and she had new moves and mechanics that Hotsuma, Moritsune, and Joe didn’t have. Plus, if you completed Shinobi before playing Nightshade you probably screamed “EASY MODE!” and laughed out loud until you tried to cross a pit and an enemy generated right in your path and made you fall to your death. Shinobi was more traditional while Nightshade was more futuristic, had techno/trance music, and bad ass chicks.
Thing is, both games are an absolute blast when played well and I’d rather watch speed runs in both than match videos of certain fighting games.
Lol. Kurohagane wasn’t even hard. He was essentially just a beefier Hotsuma clone. If you were having a time with him, then Hiruko would’ve made you break your disc in half. Only final boss I ever had to “practice” for to beat. But once I defeated him that very first time, I could always do it again no problem.
Yo for real if you are talking about the final Boss from Shinobi, then yeah that was the most hardcore boss period in the entire PS2 generation lol. Serious business, It took me like 2 hours and a half to beat him if I recall, even though I had a lot of close calls where I blew the chance to beat him. Wow thanks for bringing that memory back, I wish games had that sense of accomplishment, now adays shit is designed ground up by pussies for pussies.
As for stages posing a threat I still recall the later levels had plenty of environmental hazards (5,6 and 7 although I think it’s pretty intentional that they introduced harder stages to navigate in the second half of the game), so the stage environments weren’t always a complete cakewalk.
Shinobi 3 is the best shinobi ever.
Dummies.
Oh shit I just found my original account.
She does look dangerous actually. I guess I would not entirely know.
awesome fights:rofl:; thanks :wonder:for sharing videos, some are kicked of you tube…
Yep she looks really good on this game her Mix-up games is awesome. She my main though when I do play the game.
It’s freakin insane! She has like 20 ways to start a combo now and damn near all of them can end with 3PK -> FL 6KK for min 60-70 dmg.
Jackknife cancel is pure gold.
Add in low kick launching string and all kinds of FL/Step improvement and you’ve got a much better Sarah!
DAMN YOU SEGA!!!
She needed all that, quite badly.
Can we change the title of this thread to “Depression, in written form”?
