I’m just a lonely PS3 VF5 player… I’d love some online at the very least.
Not even getting my hopes up
as much as i love VF, I know R isnt going to hit stateside. Sega just doesnt give a fuck about their friends?
They have been pretty shitty friends in the past 10 years
Same here. I’d pay for an online expansion for the PS3.
I don’t expect much of anything, especially something directly related to us in the states. SEGA FUCKING HATES US. It’s especially evident now so just face it.
Goes and plays VF2 on SEGA GENESIS and remembers a time when we were loved. 2D VF for the classic win.
Also, what did Rey Mysterio gain to make him so good in R? And why was he so bad in 5.0? I never ever used the guy. And of course any sort of scene was nonexistent here to warrant getting into the game on that level without a special kind of deep-rooted passion, so I never knew the matchup and tier specifics.
El Blaze was far from bad, in vanilla. In R ver B he just gets even better.
I read that in R ver B his 6P has been sped up, that’s pretty strong when added with the stuff he was already capable of.
I think it’s very unfair to say Sega hates USA/West, considering every Virtua Fighter ever until now has been released in the states, and theres nothing saying that they aren’t waiting on VF5 Final Tuned to bring that worldwide on consoles. Maybe thats a bit optimistic, but I think it’s a very plausible scenario.
In any event, I’m interested in seeing what they have planned, but I doubt it will be anything too major.
VF4FT wasn’t.
I stand corrected, sorry :xeye:
Although thats part of why I think they might not being porting VF5R just yet, they might wait until they get VF5Ft or the Equivalent version and then port that, rather than porting VF5R now, and then not thinking it’s worth the trouble to port Final Tuned.
Maybe I’m just dreaming though…
Well, if a console port does come out, even if it is Japan only, PS3 users can still import it. Assuming it comes out for the PS3, this is honestly the best chance for a console port to be released.
And if the game can only be rented, isn’t that the reason a console port hasn’t been announced yet? To keep the game in the arcades for sometime and actually make some money off them? If a console port was announced, people could just wait out. (Though again, this is Japan and they go to the arcades anyways.)
They ported VF4:EVO (the second revision) and didn’t port 4FT because Sega said 4FT wasn’t different enough from VF4:EVO to warrant a console port.
Meanwhile VF5R version B is a monumental difference between VF5 versions B and C. You have new animations for a huge amount of moves for the entire cast, colossal amounts of balance changes, tons of new items and win poses, new mini games, new (and old) music, new camera animations and a new close-zoom of the fights, and of course two new characters (well sort of with Taka being in VF3 but not VF4).
The difference between VF5 and VF5R is much larger than VF4 and VF4EVO. Sega just sucks and they have no excuse beyond “we want to suck the arcades dry of money with everything we can because we over-expanded and had to close 110 arcades because our CEOs are morons”. :lame::lame::lame:
If they were waiting until VF5FT for a port I would be shocked. We knew that Sega was making VF5R DURING the last month of VF5’s development cycle. I have not heard anything concrete about a 5FT but with a new announcement coming up it might be something like that (though doubtful considering version B is relatively new).
Get read for another letdown. Getting your hopes up with Sega is insane at this point with the VF franchise.
lol good old SEGA, they already had a bunch of moron CEOs who treated video gaming industries like shoe shops.
Was VF4 Evo the most competitively played VF in US? I’m just curious. Because I was thinking back on when my local Game Crazy about 7 years ago I think had a VF4Evo tourney and it surprisingly had a good turnout of ppl like maybe at least 20.
So what do you guys think?
Wish i knew, i really don’t know any vf players in my region who i can learn from.
Sad really, this is one of the best franchises in the fighting game genre.
This guy in this same thread is from Phoenix

yeah, that’s me.
Oh. Well there are SoCal VF players you should probably have a talk with those guys, and a gathering could get set up or something. I think Plague(who runs the big SoCal VF events is possibly having something later this year).

Look for Plague, send him a PM or something, see what’s possible.
thanks for the info, i will try to contact them.
on a side note, i really wish sega was not so anal about online features for VF
Still playing VF4 over here, gaiz.
