Hopefully if they do VF5R that sort of update will be possible as DLC. It wasn’t an option with VF4 Evo.
I can’t agree more with you. For me, VF5 with online was the reason for buying a 360 over a PS3 - Now I hope that VF5R at least makes it to the states.
True, but then you have to remember this is SEGA were dealing with, and the only reason they are not the worst fighting game company in the U.S. is because SNKP does buisness in the U.S.

Think they’d release 5R as a Expansion download for 360/PSN? or as its own seperate thing? That way PS3 can get its missing online and 360 just needs the upgrade. I dunno I just really want to be able to play it.

So VF5 vanilla will is comfirmed for WCG 2009 on the 360.
VF5R ver.B is set to be released in the arcades in a couple months so hopefully we here something about it then. Alot more optimistic about this coming to console then 5 months ago. I just hope Sega releases this right.
I’ll be sticking with Vanessa when(not if) Virtua Fighter 5R comes out on consoles, but even so, I can’t wait for this much longer. It’s crippling me.
I’m gonna go ahead and say that’s unwarranted optimism. At this point, I’d honestly be surprised if we did get a console release of R.

Guys I share your pain, really. And it is a shame that Japan developers sometimes withhold content from American players. But its our fault in this case; people wet their pants over so much other stuff and reduce the popularity of VF’s scene effectively to nothing. So its only fair they would feel hesitant in bringing over this. Remember after all, Sega is a business. And if they don’t feel it won’t sell over here…we won’t see it.
And I doubt we will, at least for a very long time if it does happen. I was torn up over the Final Tuned upgrade being a Japan exclusive for VF4 as well, but that’s how it goes. People refuse to respect VF over here like it deserves, so don’t expect them to bring their wares over here.
Personally, though I can live without VF5:R - I think the new music sucks, the new characters I don’t care for. Only thing that’s relevant is the balance tweaks to stay up to date; I really hope R gives the option to use the old stages, music and interface. IMO

I really hope the next time they bring VF to console it will actually be possible (for the first time) to have this sort of upgrade as DLC and that Sega actually support the game with all the extras they release in the arcade. It might get them more sales over time as the content gradually increases.
