I’m much more interested in completely new characters than guest characters.
From a purely character and visual design standpoint (not talking gameplay) SF4’s brand new characters are better designed than SFV’s brand new characters on the whole. As far as I’m concerned, Abel, Rufus, El Fuerte, Gouken, Juri and Hakan all hit it out of the park, these are all great Street Fighter designs.
SFV’s standouts are G, Menat and Zeku though.
FANG and Rashid are excellent and standouts. Everything from their presentation starting with the reveal trailer (“2 MINUTES!”, “RASHIDOOOOOO!”), and their story presence, and playstyle. They are 10/10s for me and I hope to see both of them in future games.
I would prefer new characters with new playstyles and mechanics over guests also.
Oh yeah Rashid is also great, Fang I could take him or leave him tbh, he reminds me of the government inspector from Mulan.

Personally i WILL NOT like SF to have that kind of mainstream success in 2019, SFV Is already absurdely ashamed of his anime DNA as It Is lol, they will betray It even more if they were more aware of the kind of crap people want and eat these days
Different fanbase different approach, it’s not necessary wrong what they do, i can see mk people enjoying these characters… of course not the ones still waiting theyr old main or favs, but as a whole i ever pictured them to be open to that kind of shit

Personally i liked almost all newcomers, would add to the great new SF designs Kolin and Necalli. Rashid and Fang were good too, filling holes in SF cast

Laura -battle alt Is great. I wish was standard look (It Is in my game). Her standard Is still decent though
Abigail - good but wish had more Hugo-like body proportions instead the cartoon shit we got
Aside that only bad new designs to me are
Falke- useless
Kage- straight crap, possibly worst in the game
Lucia- a mess

Guest characters are cool when they actually work. For example, guests from other fighting games. MK gets a bit more room to work with because they have a dark theme, aren’t bound by martial arts, and have the injustice community that likes superheroes. Tekken is probably the only game that has gone a bit too far (Noctis? Seriously?), but they also covered a lot of their base roster so it doesn’t feel like a waste.
If SFV were to get a guest, ideally it would be KoF (Iori or Terry) or Tekken (one of the Mishimas). However, Capcom has so damn many IPs sitting in the cooler that they could easily pull guests from their other games (Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, etc) and avoid the licensing issues.
Oh i’m extremely protective toward SF art style and settling, but still i will have probably no big problem finding 50+ characters between SNK, Arika(obviously), Tekken or even VF or others japanese fight games that could be cool guest in SF without ruin SF style

MK gets a bunch of guest characters and people still drop the games. The freaking ninja turtles couldnt save Injustice 2.

SFV newcomers bury the SFIV ones in both quantity and quality. The only thing that makes SFIV vaguely competitive here is Juri.
This, we have so many old chars and potential new ones to be added, why waste a slot for a guest character? I don’t want it to set a precedent and then every SF has fans expecting a new guest with increasing ridiculous requests.

I think the guest characters is a great thing for MK. I just don’t believe it’s necessary for SF.
I’d rather them do a Capcom All Stars instead.
Instead of doing guest characters Capcom rather integrate their other franchises into Street Fighter. They made Zeku a Strider, Karin beach stage canonized Rival Schools and opens the door for any of those characters, a sailor from an early arcade game almost made the roster before being replaced by Birdie, Ruby Heart exists in SF.
In all honesty, fuck guest characters. The novelty has long worn off. They lead to IP issues down the line. The new characters that people bitch about tend to become loved down the line. See the SF3 cast for the most obvious example. Hell look at Lucia already. She was the most bitched about character when revealed and now she’s the most popular.
I am an MK fan and have been all my life. Their success makes me happy and raises the bar on several fronts for fighting games. I am part of their fanbase and calling MK11 out on its retarded shit isn’t envy.

Bullshit fam, a whole region of the world finally has a character that looks like them. A character that isn’t villain when that’s how they are usually portrayed. Rashid has got plenty of fans.
Final Fight has always been in the Street Fighter universe. It’s original title was Street Fighter 89. You are a veteran of this thread, you should know better man.
