This makes Charlie Nash cool and appealing too.
One of my issues with the blond invasion of SF5 is how all of them have the same shade. You’re not getting dirty blonde, platinum or even strawberry blonde. It’d go far to differentiate the cast at a first glance.
To be fair, this might be more of a Japanese thing than a Capcom thing. Tekken has a similar problem with its blond characters, as the only 2 shades it has are “American” (Nina/Bob/Paul/Steve) and “European” (Lili/Leo), and they aren’t all that different in the first place.
Talking about glasses.
I would allow Lucia remove it in an intro or something.
Because having shades to fight in a dark stages is kinda meh.
Good inspiration of a tough woman but not lesbo and with a lot of color brown in pallete is more into Linda Hamilton.
But more less tough but more serious vibe is the other TX for other version
And Honda was Suzuki. I expect his disciples to be named Kawasaki, Yamaha and Toyota…
That’s very noticeable. I remember trying various arcades at the time, and playing with Zangief you could usually finish off an opponent with 3 SPDs. Except that somewhere else you needed 4… When MAME came out, I noticed that the first ones were the Japan and World ROMs (that last one explains why some ROMs with Japanese balance settings came in the West, because surely you didn’t see Japanese scripts around back then).
Doesn’t it say that it’s harder to counter (lit: to be hit) because his body’s hurtbox is smaller? Anyway, being not a Blanka player, I never noticed that.
Lucia looks Jewish. Just sayin.
Correct answer, what makes him even better in my eyes is that he and his panther are based on equally blessed anime/manga characters.
Rodem is literally inspired from the Rodem/Achilles panther seen in Babel Junior/Giant Robo OVA:
While Rugal himself bares similar mannerisms to Shokatsuryo Koumei from Giant Robo who was in turn based on a IRL man named Zhuge Liang Kongming:
Summary
I already loved Rugal anyways but finding this out just makes me like him even more.
I agree, example one thing i loved of SFV concept Cody was they gave him sandy blond wich was cool as middle way between brown hair normal Cody (FF1) and his blond “criminal” days after
It will have looked like a return to be regular dude (middleway between the two colors), and differentiate him from the rest of lemon head crowd
While at it these are cool alts, i wish we got these DLC instead santa claus shit
In general, they “standardized” the palette on some things
Even worse to me is some ugly cold “pink” color they chosen for white characters skin and spammed it on many chars lol
Sad i will never get Color Edit, would fix every single alt on my game… even just recreating the standard look but with decent palette lol
Nah.
Rugal is arguably the best boss character in a fighting game not Geese. But he’s more esoteric. Bison has more wide appeal and a design is much more versatile and enduring. Where is Rugal now?
5 v 1 according Aftermath. 3 v 1 is a walk in the park (see first Cinematic trailer for SF5).
Most of the time, he’s doing it for entertainment, to torment, or to kill time on his way to more power (which tends to be from very specific events). Also to suggest Rugal does not seek more power is disingenuous.
Rugal’s origin and story is also more fleshed out, as per SNK’s style of storytelling which is more intricate than Capcom’s.
If you were to judge boss characters on presentation, cheapness, power, personality, intros, character interactions, music, stages, and minions, Bison -especially Alpha3 and SF2- rank extremely high. Higher than Geese and most SNK bosses to say the least. Rugal IMO is the only SNK boss that rivals Bison and can actually beat him on many of these “Boss” criteria.
I’m also just gonna put this here:
One thing i will like to see is a Aikido rep with glasses looking weak and frail
Kinda like Goki Shibukawa from Baki
Even if to be fair a classic of Goki is often give his old-man-glasses to Baki before fight
Capcom had similar (but at same time opposite) idea with original Abel concept, when was a girly little judo boy that looked weak but likely compensate with soft grappling jap arts concept of use opponent’s strenght/weight and so on
Well maybe the old frail man gimmick is’nt needed for newcomers, Oro already cover that in some way
Even if Oro is more a Kaioh Kaku
So maybe the original Abel concept got more room to be unique in SF
Rugal’s “dead”. Until SNK decides to bring him back, which they very well could in XV given that Geese made it in.
Part of what makes Geese great is the game he’s from. Fatal Fury is more like Final Fight than Street Fighter in terms of plot, and Geese as a martial arts crime boss fits arguably better in his game than Bison does in SF.
Gonna throw in the man himself, Heihachi from Tekken into this. The boss of Tekken 1, he sets the plot of almost every game in the series in motion in some way or another.
The similarities between Geese and Bison are superficial, and the comparison is unbalanced akin to comparing Sagat to Bison as a final boss. Bison is more than just martial arts and crime. Bison has more in common with Rugal/Omega Rugal in this sense, but what Rugal has in sadism, Bison makes up for in pragmatism and resilience. But even then, the similarities are limited.
Bison is the overarching antagonist of the entire series unlike Rugal and Geese. Bison is much more like Heihachi in that the story of Street Fighter as a whole passes through him one way or another. Everything moves towards or away from Bison in the character relationship chart. To the plot, Bison is a means and/or ends for himself and for many/most characters.
And also that there are TOO MANY DAMN BLONDES IN THIS GAME
Geese is in because he didn’t die in the KoF continuity. He’s only dead in Fatal Fury.
Not entirely correct. He saw the impact with the ground coming and shouted “PREDICTABO!” and bounced off the pavement unscathed
Do you think they regret killing Geese?
Probably figured: “Man, will just keep making new people who are cooler, I dont think he’ll be that popular.” Now they gotta twist a million reasons to add him in.
No. Being dead didn’t stop him from appearing in the games. They put a halo on his head and called him nightmare Geese.
To be honest these two parts are’nt much Bison’s strong point or Geese/Rugal’s weak points
It shows more than anything that Capcom seem unable to build and develop alternative bosses for SF, wich as result damage Bison’s image first of all.
Gill was great but we seen only his “intro” arc, Seth was halfshit boss, they did a fake bet on Necalli, G for now is just talking a lot
Akuma is a crap and still got the special role hidden greatest treat (even if not a treat to the world, just for Ryu), the one that would fuck up any other boss
If was for me i will like Capcom to
-Complete Gill development
-Create new CREDIBLE Bosses
-Make Bison a behind the scenes figure, recovering from ASF, while other Bosses just as powerful take the scene
-Make Akuma just a “secret Master” who will give insane to-the-death duel to Ryu (by knowing entire Ryu style, but better), but without having actual BOSS kind of power (late for that)
On other hand must be said SNK while being generous and creating lot of good Bosses, they also created a decent number of crap ones
We agree on all points.
I will add that if Bison continues his role as an overarching villain in the next chapter, it will fatigue the IP itself. What would be best for SF and Bison, is that Bison takes a behind the scenes role as much as possible much like Akuma in SF5. This will allow the character to develop his story singularly outside of attachments to the main arc, and would give the stage for someone hopefully as good or better to have their moment in the spotlight.
All his Geese/Rugal nonsense. Everybody forgot about Krauser and how hard he goes.
