The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

Not at all. Ed Boon has wanted to wipe the MK roster clean for years now. Armageddon was designed to do that. The kombat kids is the direction he wants to take but being smart about it. Establish those characters first before they replace whoever they are replacing.

That can only happen if series moves forward. Doing the same shit with minimal change doesn’t do that. The cast of characters is ballooning so some will have to be discarded.

That’s pretty hard to do unless you literally transfer entire roster from game to game AND add newcomers on top of that. Like can you imagine if Tekken 8 had 80 characters out of the box were it to continue “building upon itself” since T1 all the way to this day? It’s unfeasible from resources and balance perspective

Quick shoop how i will have liked Lucia’s default

Keep some of the new elements but simplify it to keep lines SF style, recovered her original azure-brown color scheme too. Used Story alt hair to distance further from Falke, stolen knee protections from Battle
It lose the police uniform effect (it’s FF3 look with some cop element) but will not miss it lol

I shall not tolerate the removal of thighhighs, sir

I see your motivations and was tempted to keep, just removing stripes
But at the end was another element redundant after Falke (who have blue high boots)

So gone for bare legs, wich was a signature element of FF3 Lucia, then stolen from Battle the knee pads, wich add another “cop” element to the original costume and distance a bit from default Cammy

Essentially thighhighs died because capcom had to give us another redundant blondazure gurl that keep overlap left and right instead give us a more distinctive design like Rose/Elena/Makoto/C.Viper

Thighhighs died for theyr sins

That hair has got to go.

Other than i like it. Not sure as a default but it looks hella good.

I’d also add that the bare legs complement the colours on top of Lucia’s body. The blue in her default just blends in and looks a bit off.

I’d change the hair and make I a bit flatter though.

Though about it, i had a modified less spiky version of Story ( A ) and straight Nostalgia copy-pasted haircut ( B )

( A ) is probably my favourite, feels more scrappy and remind less Falke’s haircut

Third most selling? You mean behind SF4 and SF2, the only other SF games to have a large console presence?

Look, I’m as amazed as the next guy that Capcom buffoonery has managed to keep the game’s decline relatively slow (see DBFZ for what happens as an unmitigated dumpster fire), but the consistent playerbase was always poor for its posted numbers and tournament entrants are steadily dropping. Wouldn’t be such a big point against it if literally the rest of the genre hadn’t seen explosive growth within the past few years as contrast, but it’s clear that the SFV community isn’t really retaining players all that well.

I really dig the hair in your very first version honestly, either that or A for me.

Though I own a physical copy, I bought the digital version during EVO week because it was like $7. I am guessing there’s others like me. So they can’t be all new players.

Tell that to Smash Bros.

Besides, you can make new characters without shackling them to old characters. If anything, your obsession with apprentices contradicts your desire to move forward since those characters are always anchored to the past, while also undermining said past characters involvement in the future.

Replace “Tekken 8” with any Tekken Tag game and that’s exactly what they do.

You’re back!

Cut out more SF5 character reference images for me…

No, behind SF2 and SF2T. SF5 has outsold Vanilla SF4. Each of the SF4 games is counted as separate games for Capcom. SF5 is a singular game. SF4’s lifetime sales, across all platforms and all reiterations is over 7 million.

SF4’s business model bloats its lifetime sales due to players being forced to repurchase to keep up, while SF5’s actually underestimates the game’s profitability unless Capcom are willing to tell how much are the DLCs for the game really making. We can guess that by now SF5 was at least as profitable as SF4 was in its whole life.

The game moved more than half a million units this year and this is its 4th year. That’s beyond healthy and proves that Capcom’s longterm vision and plan for SF5 is likely going to payoff. I think by year’s end it will break 4 million easy.

That’s pretty good. Add the thigh highs back tho… :stuck_out_tongue:

Cestus, let her keep the hat and glasses.

Tekken Tag games are a special occasion, and there was like a 10 year gao between TTT1 and TTT2. Also don’t forget it’s a tag team 2v2 fighter (hence the name), so naturally it needs a large roster. That’s not to mention that TTT games aren’t canon to the mainline series, which is why they could all kinds of crazy shit like Angel and True Ogre and Prototype Jack and fucking Lili’s butler

Also Lucia is literally just a young Jessalyn Gilsig:

The party game isn’t exempt. Some characters that were introduced in Melee like Pichu, Mewtwo, Roy and Young Link were axed from Brawl and Smash 4. Wolf, Ice Climbers and Snake missed Smash 4. Ultimate is an exception not the rule.

Being an apprentice won’t anchor a character unless it’s major part of their story. You don’t get Hwoarang for instance trying to live up to Baek, Xiaoyu connection with Wang hasn’t been acknowledged since Tekken 3 I think, Asuka’s relation to Jin and Jun is downplayed with her rivalry with Lili taking precedence.

Isn’t Garou one of your favorite SNK games? Most of the cast is fulled with these characters I think only Jae Hoon and Rock are really anchored to old characters. Dong Hawg, Hokutomaru and Marco ain’t.
