The Ultimate Magnus Thread. The godlike stuff

just snap early so that you dont build them meter with your combo

Like Luis said, you don’t wanna build those characters meter.
More specifically those 3 characters all have invincible air supers. Sent and Phoenix use 1 meter for theirs, and Morri uses 3.
If you’re gonna spend meter to snap someone in you wanna make sure they at least have to try to block your mixup.

what combo do you use?

i do the fly, but when i try to get the unfly h to bring them down and start up hyper grav, they flip out. its doable but its really tight. do you use fly or mag blast?

i tried the blast but it doesnt build 2 bars…

for midscreen I generally do Quandizzles combo into a rep of S hypergrav loop, in to relaunch MMHS, Wesker assist, LHypergrav, st.HS, sj H xx LDisruptah xx Air Tempest.

another fun midscreen combo I do is
crLMHS sj H adf H xx LBlast, land, akuma assist, sj uf addf S, this will flyscreen the opponent into the tatsu, dash forward S, sj H adf H fly L H adf H xN S, wesker assist, LHypergrav, st.HS, sj H xx LDisruptah xx Air Tempest.

BEHOLD!!!

Then follow up with an unblockable reset to reset hte damage scaling.
Throw, SJ addf S and call Wesker as soon as you land > 2 tridash Ls.
The first tridash L is to keep them grounded, the second tridash is the unblockable with Wesker’s gunshot.

Are you sure they just can’t jump out Mayho? I’m sure you can counter the upback by going crL after the tri jL though. You can also probably pushblock the first tri jL.

the vergil is set to jump in the video as evidence :stuck_out_tongue:
in the corner the pushblock is irrelevant,
and midscreen if htey pushblock the first tridashL, the second one lands same side.
if you don’t pushblock hte first tridashL, the second one hits crossup.

Mags tridashes a lot faster than people think.

Another great Mags/Wesker reset is

works on both front and back tech.
when you SJUF you can react the the front tech and do ADDB S.
on front you do ADDF S.
invincible move, neutral tech, and hardtag get out of this setup.
if I notice they go for neutral tecs, I go for either a cr.L with mags to catch em the next time,
or boxdash magblast to keep em in the corner and pressure with tatsu.
this reset is free af, just make sure you don’t max out your scaling and force an air tech, it needs to be ground tech.

Lol at people who think wesker assist is pretty much useless. Maggy’s movemnt and space control is good enough to get by with one neutral assist to have this for unblockables. Also the gunshot has a lot more horizontal range than people give credit for and can work as a subpar neutral assist if your neutral assist is in the dangerzone of health or dead.

but regarding the solo Raw guardbreak setup, I assume the opponent can just jump out of it if they know it is coming right?

^ thats not hte issue with the raw setups, sicne they then open them selves up to air grabs, and cr.L’s to stuff their jump frames.
imo the biggest issue, is people don’t always pushblock, and when they do they have varying pusblock times.
this guardbreak is very timing intensive, as seen in the video where the guy who came up with the tech has trouble doing it consistently on an training dummy.
training dummies all tech consistently same timing everytime.
This can be remedied by doing say tridash L/H/S, land wave dash + call assist (tatsu, jam session, and coldstar come to mind), and go for the throw.
That way if you didn’t time it perfectly and they get hte tech, you still have frame advantage, and an assist to continue your pressure game.

I used the same guard break setup in my video.

Yeah, “true” pushblock guard breaks are not practical as their timing is dependent on the pushblock timing itself which the AI does completely differently from a real person, not to mention that their timing seems very strict. Getting a pseudoguard break by making an incoming opponent have to tech a throw is just as good and far easier to acheive/confirm.

rayray and champ can do them pretty consistent. I’ve even seen fanatiq do them. I can too.

I meant truly untechable guard breaks. Most of the time people aren’t just teching post pushblock on incoming. It’s fairly easy to guard break someone on incoming if they don’t tech. Doing the untechable in training mode guard break is almost impossible in a real match since it’s impossible to time it with their pushblock.

this :stuck_out_tongue:

so… you were sitting right next to _______ when RayRay/Champ went for a guard break attempt? And you know for a fact that ________ wasn’t teching or his timing was off? And this happens 100% of the time? SMH, just because you can’t do something consistent doesn’t mean everyone else can’t do it. YOU lack execution.

I remember this one guy saying…

:u: :uf: :f::df: :m:+:h:~:l: is sooooooooooo impractical because I can’t do it.

Spoiler

then he went into training mode and mastered plink mag blast.

There is no issue with execution here, the true guard break set up is a 1-2f window based on one timing that’s absolutely out of your control which is the opponent’s pushblock timing.

Not that it matters anyway since the majority of players will not even tech a pseudoguard break in the first place.

I mean you have your own video yourself, as long as you execute your own OS’s properly there is no way they are not getting opened up on incoming with an assist behind you.

The whole point of my setup is to put fear in my opponent, y’know, force him to hold back or make a terrible decision, not land a guard break. Guard break is just one option to the many that I have during that specific setup. I only focus on A/B/C/D situations cause just doing it won’t get you anywhere. I assumed that’s what you were talking about, just doing it. my apologies. I should of known since you have a lot of knowledge and understand the game.

check out ika not understanding that pushblock can be delayed XD leafcolonel is right, a lot of people dont tech the pseudo guardbreak. you know how i know? i sat beside fucking noel brown, rayray, white-r and other players and did it to them.

lol, I thought he saying guard break was 100% impractical and that niggas were just doing it with no plan B.

go ahead… grill me! >:(

yo ika i’ve got a question for you concerning mag/dante. i downloaded that pocket dante vid you made a while back and i remembered seeing you did this combo midscreen and you did double volcano. just wondering what’s the trick to doing it, is it a tiger knee?
