The Ultimate Magnus Thread. The godlike stuff

when doing dash ~ magnetic blast i keep getting the raw blast or dash L

for example when i do SJ ADDF L blast i either get a blast where i super jumped or a ADDF L. same goes for when i try to box dash blast.

ive tried plinking and just doing it really fast but i’m not sure exactly what im doing wrong

Cleaner inputs. Literally do the motion at super jump height then M+H~L when your joystick hits the down-forward direction.

I’ll see what I can do. Gives me some direction for my practice. Thanks!

Is there a specific height I have to wait to be at before it will work? like for the box jump or the super jump? or is it all inputs?

Swag

Bawse!

No specific height…itll register but if you’re too low then it doesnt come out but you’ll still hear the start up of the Mblast.

Here’s a baby magnus:

Once you’ve gotten comfortable with actually being able to do it, you can save time and drill it by just standing in front of your training dummy mid-screen and doing normal jump kara blasts. You’ll know every time you got it right but you won’t have to waste time SJ evertime, and when you get it wrong it won’t take as long to get back down and try again.

If the character you’re using as the dummy is small enough you can practise doing them on both sides because you’re going to tri-dash over them each time.

They have something like a troubleshooting thing over at the Viper forums for doing rapid Seismos, like addressing certain instances where you drop the motion and what exactly goes wrong there. I think it might be helpful to do something like this for kara Magblasts. I’ve been getting them a little more often, but I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong. For now I just use normal jump, adf, then Magblast L because I still can’t get the kara blasts as often as I want.

Check the inputs, the Magnetic blast will not come out unless you input the 6 before the :atk:. The 6 must always face the opponent too, if you are not pressing forward towards the opponent it won’t come out

The inputs on training mode should look like this
:u::uf::f:+:l: , if you input :u::uf::l::f: you’ll get a jL which I think is the most common mistake. There is nothing to it but a cleaner input and practice, I seriously suggest just practicing with the dummy in the corner. There is no plinking necessary, my inputs have become clean and fast enough that I can autocorrect whenever I want and do them as rapidly as I can and I can do any boxdash magnetic blast bnb. It’s also useful to play against an AI opponent spamming nothing but boxdash forward and back Magnetic Blasts with an assist. You can start out slowly inputting the blast after the dash, but sooner or later you’ll get fast enough at doing doing them.

There are basically 2 methods to inputting the boxdash blast:
The plink method(cancels the dash immediately into the M Blast, is harder and works only on forward airdashes)
:u::uf::f:+:m:+:h: ~:l:, requires a certain rhythm to do.

Non plink method(input the blast input after the dash, you’ll gradually speed up with practice)
Any Jump, ADF( I even use L+M), :u::uf::f:+:l:

Just put inputs on training mode and see what’s going wrong, if you are inputs are clean it should always come out with the 2nd method while the first method requires timing the plink.

For the nonplink method, do crossup magblasts have to be done at a certain distance?

Every time I try to do it next to them I just get a dash and a jL, but maybe a character-distance away it will autocorrect the magblast. Standing next to them I have to actually input the magblast in the crossup input after the dash for a magblast to come out.

Is this the case for others?

Like I said, all you have to do is input the motion before crossing up (ie you should be ending the motion with forward towards the character before crossing up). If you don’t input them fast enough you have to wait and confirm it on the other side and do the motion on the other side ie air dash with 6M+H , 874 L Blast. But if you do it fast enough it’ll work.

Both methods will autocorrect as long as you input before you crossover, but the plink method doesn’t really worry about cross overs considering you input the dash and blast with the same input so it’s easier in the crossover regard. Magnetic Blasts will always autocorrect during dashes as long as the forward + blast is inputted before the crossover. Although I don’t recommend using Magnetic Blasts as crossup tools since you are in the range for a high/low mixup which is harder to block, cross up blasts’ only use is to setup assists or cover meaty knockdowns because they autocorrect.

Helpful tip…

When doing :u::uf::f::df: + :m:+:h: most people don’t notice your cancelling a MBlast into a dash. If you pay attention to his dash you will notice two purple circles on his shoulder. This indicates that you are doing everything correct. I may upload a video showing this in action.

Ah, so it’s not necessary at all to plink in order to get crossup blasts? I thought that was the case when I was doing 896 LM~L for adf Magblast L in my combos. Guess I just need to get it down in neutral then, thanks.

i noticed i kept doing that. it looked like i was canceling the blast with a dash. however it meant that i wasnt getting dash ~ blast just purple ~ dash

Anyone notice Magneto’s eyes glow red during certain moves?

Yeah, he did that in MvC2 and I think the older games as well. It happens during Hyper Grav and Force Field only, I think.

It looks badass, especially with his white costume. Now I’m just sad he doesn’t have his alternate :frowning:

His eyes should be glowing during gravity squeeze, tbh.

and everytime you hit em with an H.

Any light to shed on this?
