The TTT2 General Discussion thread

Don’t quote me on this but I think it’s how fast a move comes out after you hit the button.

Oh…thats a weird way of saying startup

We will do change difficulty next update(October 9). RT [S]@[/S]1603Chaz Any chance of adding Very Easy mode for TTT2, greart game, but i struggle.

Smh

Some of these items are fucking stupid.

So I checked my WTF stats and I see that I have 4 chicken points, what is a chicken point? Is it a good or bad thing?

Capos, Zafina, Kuni.

Hate em.

Both Dragi and Lei are A tier now, lol.

why do 4 people on xbox live have a time attack complete in 00:38 seconds with law. That’s impossible you would litterally have to kill the computer in 2 seconds or less every round?

it’s xbox so probably by hacking.

 Yo, shoutouts to XBox.

Don’t worry about losing so much, just make sure you learn something from the match. Not intangible things like “how to have an indomitable heart,” but things like “how to block that particular string” or “can’t sidestep this move in that particular direction.” Lost to four dudes yesterday but I guess since it was a slow day on ranked, I eventually ran into all of them again later on in the day and ran it back against all of them. Inexperience and gimmicks combine to crush you like I got crushed the first time I played these guys, but when you get another chance and you learned even just one thing from your previous match, you get better and the next chance you get could end up very differently, like it did for them.

The cool thing about playing respectful players is that they let you play your game while putting enough of their game out there to make you respect theirs. It then becomes a very mentally-based footsie game and while not all people are fond of those, it’s pretty fun. Of course, lots of people have no intention of letting you run any sort of game (and an unwritten rule at some levels of play is that if you’re inexperienced against a style or character, to not let that character start an offense), so they have no problem rolling the dice if the odds are that you either can’t block them or will be too busy blocking to mount any sort of counterattack. The one thing I try to do when I’m eating strings or setups I’ve never seen before (Hi, Zafina) is try my best to at least scout out the lows. If I can do that, I have a good idea of when to block, when to step, when to duck and when to crush. Learning in the middle of a set is the worst, but if you can make the most of it, you’ll be gaining residual knowledge over time.

So no one has any idea what a chicken point in Tekken Tag 2 is and whether it’s a good or bad thing? Wonderful.

Great, you’re one of those users that is just going to constantly troll me.

I think I’ve found a secret move with Leo

f,uf,u,ub,b done quickly makes her do this weird somersault thing backwards, it doesn’t seem to be able to hurt anything, she doesn’t get any moves out of it and I assume if someone dashs in and jabs while you’re in the air they’ll get a free juggle, but it’s there.

that’s backflip and its not a secret move. the notation is u~u/b. other characters also have that like nina, anna, christie, xiayou, yoshi, zafina, asuka, etc. other characters have their own special backflips or backwards evasive moves like bruce b,b+3+4, and hei/lee b,b,n,3+4.

Why are the Capos so hated? Half the people that play Tekken seem to have an outright disdain for them.

 I mean, you can think of any number of reasons, but it mostly stems from their playstyle.

Capos just transition into and out of their stances frequently, combining rolling mids with lows that players inexperienced in the matchup will eat pretty consistently. Since most of the damage they do is from punking people who try to step or jab out at suboptimal times, the damage is all unscaled and boosted (120% in T6 if I remember right, 135% in TTT2U, can’t remember if the data for older games is similar), making it seem like they just faceroll for damage.

In truth, someone who is learning the game versus an inexperienced player can just essentially “mash” for what seems like endless movement and attacks. This is all very “no throws house rules” and “fireballs are cheap” kinda stuff. People just get over it as they get better.

It’s a bad stigma that I don’t think the style will ever truly leave behind in this game, but it is what it is. I’ve never invested time to see what sort of potential they have in this game, but Tiger may have to be a pickup for me just so I can take these kids to the Land of Funk.

Why is the first move 135% and not 100%? Doesn’t make much sense.

This

 Grounded hits, or hits that touch opponents lying on the ground do 100%.

The beefy damage on standing opponents does a few things. First, it emphasizes the importance of a good footsie game. You know, most people complain that the damage in Tekken is too high, and it is really high, but people complain mostly about launch combos and bounds and all that stuff. Most matches where both players are on point, for almost all skill levels, rarely has a ton of launchers. The game mostly relies on a good poking game to get yourself situated to run your offense. Beefy damage on pokes supports this.

The high unscaled (this is important) standing damage also emphasizes the importance of good blocking. Since strings that combo on natural or counterhit (or not even combos, but a series of cascading pokes not unlike the capos) do not scale, the player is forced to learn how and when to block, step or crush certain moves. Having a weak defense is not good and you are punished with very significant damage that stacks up rather quickly, so learning common enemy setups for certain characters or styles is a very smart thing to do and rounds you out as a player.

Who’s trolling?
