I think Aris said once that movement and spacing are your best tools against lows. If you’re getting hit by a low and it’s just a low poke ( doesn’t knock down ), don’t sweat it, just back off a bit and try to read your opponents poking patterns better. If you’re getting hit by a see-able low that knocks down like that bullshit sweep any character can do from the ground after a forward or back roll, you need to work on expecting those and or reacting to them with a block or parry. Also, I notice that people online love to do slow lows that knock down if you tech roll near a wall (after a combo or something). It’s a good strategy b/c you can’t avoid it. You’re forced to get up and block low asap.
I think parrying is a great option against lows but sometimes you can get a better punish if you block a low (delayed hopkick or whatever your character has). And some moves are obviously not parry-able, so that’s another reason to have good low blocks.
Edit: Lol, I didn’t mean to write so much, your post just brought a lot to mind, Kuma.
I swear, online is making a mockery of me when it comes to lows. Hold db on reaction and what do I get? Juggled. It’s especially ridiculous against the Koreans or the Capos.
Well, damn. How about this, I’ve been trying to get better with Dragunov and Lei, does anyone know who I should be watching on Youtube to see great Dragunov or Lei players?
Aris mains Dragonuv and Feng. You should watch some of his videos.
I don’t know of any lei mains, but there’s agood chance that help me or knee have played as him or fought against him at one point in time, so browse their videos.
Or just go to tekken zaibatsu’s lei forums and look for a video thread there.
Lol so I finally realized why I couldn’t block lows. Apparently, my 2D fighter habits are still stuck. I do db, but my fingers move the stick to b so I get hit.
If you like playing on an arcade stick, both systems are fine. If you don’t have an arcade stick or don’t like using one, stick with the PS3. The 360 controller’s D-Pad is god awful for fighting games.
Trust me, plenty of people on XBLA. And I’ve got both versions of the game. But like someone said, if you’re a pad player, Xbox may be problematic, especially when pretty much all the tournaments are on PS3.
Thanks for the responses guys. And yeah, I’ve got an Arcade Stick. Just wanted to be sure that getting on the 360 was worth it, haha. Been trying to find another fighting game. SF4 seems boring and Marvel is a bit laggy.
That’s why it’s called online for a reason lol. 60% of the people that I lost to online. I can bet I will rape them offline cause those low they hit me with won’t hit me offline.
Ps2 pad is better than the six axis ps3 controller for fighting games You might want to buy a ps2-ps3 converter though … I just have this feeling that my moves are a bit delayed when i play on the ps3 controller (being wireless) idk, maybe its just me…
