The TTT2 General Discussion thread

Hmm, haven’t really asked myself that, in non 3D fighters I play a decent variety of play styles, it really varies per game. For Kunimitsu, she seems like she would be a really offensive character, would it be wise to pick a character that plays slightly differently for different circumstances? Or would it be a good idea to get another character that is kind of alike in play style?

I suppose I should list the other characters I have my eyes on, so far at least, the characters I think I would also like are as follows: Baek, Heihachi, Lili, Wang, Miguel, Alex, and I thought Jun was alright.

This may sound obvious, but if you have counter hit set to “On” in training mode and you perform a punish it will display both words at the same time.

Baek-Very offensive and very complex
Heihachi-Mishima;Has a little bit of everything (Considered in the 2nd highest tier by many)
Lili-Side step heavy
Wang-I belive he’s really solid?
Miguel-He’s a good starter character; very solid and well rounded
Alex-Relies on strong pokes to deal damage (Has my seal of approval!)
Jun-Defensive; Relies on counter hits to deal extreme damage
For a pairing with Kuni, I would try Jun or Miguel.

Speedwagon, This page is a great resource if you’re trying to decide which character to pick.

I would also suggest watching high level play from top players and watching how they approach playing different characters.

Wow, thank you very much for the brief descriptions, stuff like that is what I need/need confirmation on 8-). I have been considering Miguel and Wang at the moment since they do seem like decent starting characters.

Yeah, I mentioned I saw that topic earlier, it’s really good, but Kunimitsu’s part didn’t really say much to me, nor did it mention under anyone else that she would be good for them. Watching high level play may not be a bad idea really, I should probably do that :).

I fucking love this game. I’m totally a ‘street fighter’ player but I find myself more and more just wanting to play Tekken instead.

 Dat vortex~!

Wang and Miguel are both really easy, nothing especially hard, just very basic. Also 10f throw leading into a BT launcher is pretty cool (though it may not be guarenteed anymore). Miguel is pretty good in this game too.

I kind of wish I had seen this back in October, but I’m still sticking with my team and its lack of lows. It’s just that knowing my team is defensive when I despise turtling is rather confusing.

Though I freaking hate that all I tend to see for teams with King is that they’re partnered with Armor King, Marduk, or Jaycee. I don’t see much variety outside of that.

 Yeah, most people at many skill levels are going for the pre-made sort of compatibility that many characters have with others.

Don’t let that discourage you from experimentation, though. When people stopped playing Jun/Asuka, I think it was partly because Jun/Anna is so much better and it’s a combo not many would think to make. All that comes with your own experimentation and exploration. I’m still searching for the perfect partner for Asuka and I’ve successfully been able to resist Jun (for that particular team) and I snapped myself back to reality shortly after I wanted to try the pre-made Asuka/Lili combo. It will just take some time and a lot of practice.

Regarding that character list, I wouldn’t read TOO deeply into archetypes like “defensive” and “tricky” and stuff like that. I mean, by their nature, the Mishimas are all defensive characters, but you can play them extremely aggressively if you want to, so I would take that list as just a dossier of sorts. If you have defensive characters, that doesn’t necessarily imply that you’re going to be holed up in a corner blocking for half the match.

Oh, I know. In fact, being on the offensive with my characters has proven more advantageous than just constantly blocking, though I do need to get out of the habit of attempting low crushes so many times. My problem is that defensive play just makes me think of SF4 Guile while I played a “dancy” Fuerte in that game. It’s more word association than anything else really.

As long as I believe that my team has mixup potential out the wazoo if I can just understand their safe spots and the okizeme game, then I’m going to keep at them. I’m already finding X-K Tag Assault combos for crossunder, crossups, and dealing damage at least in the high 80’s.

I just got this game during the Black Friday sale. Me and 2 other friends went to Wal-Mart. I had my heart set on this game but I was able to talk my 2 friends into buying the game also so that we can train online and get better.

I played Tekken up until Tekken Tag and stopped at 4. I’ve always loved the series, but just got kinda bored with it after a while and could never find good competition.

This game is an absolute blast. It took about 2 hours worth of training mode and arcade mode to get back into the feel of the Tekken world and it feels great.

I’m going to main Zafina, but Ive been messing around with characters from the older series that I remember how to play like Xiayou, Marshall Law, Anna Williams and Paul Phoenix.

I just wish we had character specific forums!

This game just got a lot better now that I’m staying out of range more and less in-your-face. Sidestepping moves, reversals, and throw escapes just got a lot easier.

Now if only I could do something about those clone teams. Nothing irritates me more than a Bruce Lee team.

So, I have finally decided on my team/s for all of you who were wondering (All zero of you 8-)!). It took me a while to really narrow down which characters I wanted to use, truth be told there’s quite a lot that I enjoy, but I know having too many characters to play will result in me not learning as much, so I brought it down to 4, aka 2 teams.

The first one Kunimitsu/Miguel, I decided to go with Miguel since he’s easy and pretty fun to play. The other 2 characters I decided I will attempt on the side will be a Xiaoyu/Heihachi team, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed using Xiaoyu actually and decided that I will try to learn her as well. I’m sure it will be quite a handful for someone new like me, but it’s fun to learn stuff in this game, which is always good for a fighting game.

Any thoughts on the order of the characters? Should I maybe switch the characters around (IE: Xiaoyu/Miguel team instead)? Are my teams just doomed in general ? Either way, thanks for the help everyone, now it’s time to make Miguel look as much like a homeless person as possible.

 The first link is for DR. ;D

Someone needs to start a Kazuya thread that’s on par with TheAbsolutions Devil Jin thread. Can’t believe how terrible the TZ forums are now.

Oh god… I wasn’t paying attention!
I meant to put this one down.

I never let tier lists decide my characters, but they’re fun to know/talk about (At least when you have a decent bit of knowledge about said subject)

I don’t know if anyone else is having trouble with this, but for some reason I cannot block lows online. I see them, but it seems like I can hardly block them, yet low parries are more consistent.
