It seems that Ono was given the opportunity to bow out gracefully and took it. I am going to miss him, he was great at hyping up reveals.
It is for the best, the rumors of SF6 would explain how SFV season 4 was handled and I don’t think a team-based SF would of been well received. I am also hoping that SF6 will have a better life cycle with more content at release.
Also it’s weird how you look back and see how other fighters had their trash periods. BB, GG and Tekken had objectively garbage periods, but were able to get their shit straight.
True. Just saying it looks like their shaking up those in charge and maybe they just needed different eyes on the project. This wasn’t really hitting at Ono though. Just Capcom fighting division overall.
Use context sir. You’re right that all of the above have had terrible periods. They also had the benefit of not having to support subpar games for several years and use the time to improve their next entries.
SFV has been an absolute albatross on the Capcom FG division. Until they’re able to get away from it there’s zero chance of improvement.
They also had the benefit of not having to support subpar games for several years and use the time to improve their next entries.
That isn’t true though. Especially periods of Tekken Tag or 6. They were supported despite being absolute shit.
BB had whole periods of clownfest and so did Xrd. Those communities didn’t decide to just stop playing cause the current expansion or whatever was wack. They stuck it out.
Sad to see ono go, dude seemed to genuinely love his job and sf. Wish things would have ended on a better note for him. But 30 years is a long ass time.
Hopefully whoever is taking over has some good ideas and can fix some things.
They didn’t get 7 years. Also…wait, hold on…I have to quote this again…
Pff…HAHAHAHAHA, was that an actual serious thing you wrote? The BB community NEVER decided to just stop playing the current expansion? Really? Come on…you can’t honestly let me fire back on that one.
EDIT: Well I can’t wait for a response because I have to go to work, so I guess I will. BB is the same community that gave up their spot at EVO simply because they didn’t want to play Calamity Trigger any more because of Continuum Shift…that hadn’t even been released worldwide yet. It’s the exact reason MvC2 got its last year at EVO.
I would not have minded a team based, KOF style SF6 at all. Oh well, apparently the alleged new director of SF6 is well respected and has already improved SF6 by leaps and bounds if rumors are to be believed
With Ono leaving, it adds fuel to those rumors of SF6 not being well received
