The Street Calibur 5 Lounge: The Soul Burns But not as Hard as the FGC is Burning

The source I posted up is really reliable.

Unlike xkira, he is legit lol

He’s leaked a more than a few Capcom related things throughout last year that all ended up being 100 percent true.

This was the first fighting game related thing

I am a bit sad for Ono. For all of the shit I give SFV (mostly netcode), I really liked Ono’s enthusiasm, and I think he did everything he could.

In January, he seemed to finally comprehend how bad the netcode was (mainly because of the Altimor patch) and got the dev team to work on a “fix”. That fix, for me, was 10 times worse than what they had before (which wasn’t great but was serviceable), but that’s not Ono’s fault. He tried to do good by the community.

How old is Ono anyway ? Maybe it’s not a bad call to retire, especially since he had some health issues.

He could still stay as a community manager or something, even if he does not take the decisions for the game itself, his image is well known and would had worked out.

Maybe he just wanted out, I mean,30 years is a long time.

Can definitely tell ono really cared for the fgc. Just a good dude all around

I’ll keep it 100% fair on this:

I liked Ono the person. He cared about the acene and the brand.

I’m warming up to SFxT a bit but overall, he was not in charge of a single fighting game I like.

Overall this is a big loss though.

about time :coffee:
his trackrecord after the sf4 revival was plain and simple not good.
edit - in case it didnt happened already, woshige next.

With Ono being out, does that also means TxSF project is dead?

what has that to do with ono? i dont count on it to happen but thats on bamco and not ono.
whatever contract, agreement they had/have, it was made ages ago.

Was it ever a thing though ?

I mean,really now…

Yeah. I think you got a point there.

he got demoted several time and his last position was in the esport sector in the year of covid which leaded to the online tourney focus which brought a bigger attention to the netcode with things like the last capcom cup champ straight out “ragequitting” due to the one sided rollback issues. he most likely got fired and this is the way to save his face for the public.

would covid be not a thing and the olympic stuff gone well he would for sure be still part of the company.

I figured something was up when he wasn’t a part of the Roundtable despite his good relations with most of the participants. The writing has been on the wall for a while. Let’s be real, the dude has taken a beating the last several years between SFxT and early SFV. Farewell Ono, hopefully you find some peace.

I’m frank here, looks to me like he just got plain fired.

This happens now after he was demoted to eSports Executive and their first real online tournament got ragequitted on by their champ duo to the poor Netcode.

Yeah that’s definitely a I got fired/laid off response but addressed to the public.

He didn’t retire or anything but is resigning from the company completely.
