No creator bats 1.000. Even the best creative minds can make duds, it happens.
I am not talking about the genre, i am talking about the ārepresentationā
For starters is self defeating when you say you want to make something that represents an specific group and proceed to attack the potential viewers by being antagonistic, and dismiss everyone who has a problem with your take of the show by going on the usual stupid rethoric of anyone not liking it being ism, phobes, ists and all the tired bullshit.
There are plenty of valid criticisms made about the show, that people decide to ignore becuase it is better to just say that anyone disliking it is whatever insult they throw.
Then you have a series that falls flat in almost every aspect of their storytelling and writing.
You say that Korra was a mess, but this series was way worse.
The only thing i can give was that Catra was well handled.
It would have been a better series if it was focused on her and was an original story instead of what we got.
It is telling that Mattel is now taking a full hands down approach with their properties because they dont want more of the mess that Shera was.
SamSho getting a Shill Pass 3.
Dragon Prince started very bland, but later seasons have been better.
One thing though, i still want them to take full advantage of the medium.
It is a 3d animated series, but still aproach it like if it was a 2d animated one.
Compare what they do with what Land of the Lustrous did animation wise, and the difference is like night and day.
Nigga, Samsho is easily one of the best FGS out there right now.
But doI understand that without a better netcode, not many people are willing to give it a chance.
One thing though, is that imo, the badness of the current netcode is overstated.
Is not as bad as people claim it to be, imo.
SFV on the stream, everyone better be booing!
Well actually, Mattel is releasing OG She-Ra figures.
Thatās the whole thing.
Itās one of the biggest tragedies of the FGC.
Voltās in Brazil. If the game has bad netcode, he canāt play with any of us.
YEah, but i am watchung it on my tv, so is yt for me.
I havenāt seen Land of the Lustrous, or heard of it. Hopefully Iāll remember to look into it. I personally like the 2D edge that Dragon Prince has. First season was rough, but second/third season has been very smooth with its animation. So the 2D look works, since they cleaned up the animations. Season 1 was very off because of the low framerate.
Iām not going to agree that the series started bland, considering it starts with an assassination plot, but thatās my opinion. I feel character interactions in Dragon Prince are very well done though and where the show shines. Thatās where you can see Air Bender/Korraās influence. They just nailed it. Well for the most part anyways. Now that I think about it, the show actually has a lot of character growth for a lot of the characters.
On another note, my dad who hates all the nerd stuff that I like, really liked Dragon Prince. He felt it was better than most movies (He saw the tail end of season 3 with me). He also liked Air Bender, funnily enough.
At the end of the day, Mattel wants to be able to capitalize on their properties having series.
What netflix did with Shera didnt allow them to do it.
Hence they are now taking meassures to revive Masters of the Universe in a way that allows them to do so.
For all purpose, Netflix Shera ended being their SW TLJ.
In that it gathered a fanbase, but said fanbase dont want anything to do with the property outside that specific instance.
I didnāt say anything about ism, phobes, ists, and etc. You are the only one that have brought up Virtue Signaling bullshit take your own advice. You using it as an example compared to the new Battletoads is why I said anything.
There are valid criticisms against the new show but itās also widely recognized as a great show. Itās not just because it has gays and people are virtue signaling.
The new She-Ra was by every metric of a new cartoon a out of nowhere success and itās been trending regularly since the finale for more. Mattel wanting more ownership has more to do with them being kicking themselves that they arenāt getting as much of that pie as they would like too not because the show bombed and bringing back old lines is them capitalizing on the new momentum of the She-Ra brand which is smart. The old She-Ra toys were kickass so I am glad for it but if they didnāt wanna capitalize on the new She-Ra more directly with figures because of licensing thatās their choice.
Mattel didnāt believe in the IP the last handful of years until somebody did something new and popular with it. That stirred interested in the old brand too and Mattel is gonna capitalize on it in a way that benefits them the most.
Whatās going on with Masters of the Universe? I heard they were reviving it. Are they going He-man 2002 style? Or is it CGI? Or Live Action?
Is a 3d anime made by the same people behind Beaststar.
It was actually their 1st 3d series, and the lenghts they went to make the artstyle and animation work in 3d is amazing.
It also helps that the story is pretty good imo.
The way they made action work, taking advantage of the freedom they can frame it with very stylistic camera work was delightful.
IIRC Arenāt there two He-Man series in the works?
They are working on bringing both new entries and continuations of the old series.
Yes, they have a new one that is more Metal, and one that is a sequel of the 80s cartoon.
They are also planning to revive old She-ra.
I also heard that they are willing to let netflix pursue any new entries on their continuity if they decide to do so, but seeing that Netflix kinda pulled the plug on it, who knows if we will see both continuities coexists
Continuing the 2002 He-man?
No, the 80s one sadly.
But it seems that they want to handle the Masters of the Universe brand like an expanded universe, so there could always be a chance later down the line, who knows.
2002 He-Man was really great.
