Actually one of the ‘problems’ of the game was that while it was published by Sony, it was developed by Sucker Punch. An American company that also made the Infamous and Sly Cooper series. So it’s racist and cultural appropriation that they tried to make a game focusing on Japan.
But again, this should not a problem since Japan does that all the time too. Unless I’m mistaken and the Metal Gear series took place in Japan the whole time.

Sucker Punch is owned by Sony. It’s a 1st party title. I stand by my initial assessment.
From what I read, the game is being received favorably in Japan. Who says it’s racist ?

Its kind of like the Ghost in the Shell situation. They interviewed Japanese people about it in the streets and they all thought that it was cool that a big Hollywood actress was playing the role. The creator thought it was awesome that they got Scarlett Johanssen to play Mokoto.
Meanwhile in the US everybody called it racist.

Reminds me when Warner/Cartoon Network took from air the old Speedy Gonzalez shorts because they thought it was offensive to mexicans, despite mexicans and other latin americans liking the character quite a lot.
It wasnt until they were called out by multiple people from over here that they reverted it.

Compared to the rest of the cast they’re certainly not my favorites, design wise. The fact that Katarina doesn’t even keep a guard up annoys me to no end, and while I don’t dislike Ky he’s also the most vanilla guy in GG basically.
Fun to play though. Trumps everything for me.
