Think of autocombos as any other tool the game gives you to use.
While they are a nice starting point when you dont know what you are doing, they wouldnt get you that far.
Like how on 3d fgs like doa and sc you have strings that are just mashing the same button a few times, for example.

I remember a beginner evening we had at our locals where one of our guys had brought like 10 complete beginners, and one of them had heard Kat was an easy beginner character, but he struggled regardless. Until I said “oh, mash circle”, and then he instantly perfected the other guy. We all laughed.
