The Stinging Hook: Steve Fox General Thread

You can’t block / crouch tech. You can still hold down-forwards + LP + LK and crouch tech that way though.

Also throw ranges are so bad in this game that I think it’s more of a hindrance than a massive problem.

I’ll be using my team this Wednesday Rolento/Steve. Be sure to look out for new combos ^.^
I’ll be using Dudley/Steve when Dudley comes out 100% ^.^

some of the stuff in that video you can’t do anymore lol. Sonic fang doesn’t grant enough height to connect anything, his overhead doesn’t grant binds during juggles and ducking fox hunt doesn’t juggle people high enough to connect foot stomp right hook. You could connect stomp to hook after skyscraper though, but I found out that getting three fierces and on the last hit if you super you get about 667 damage. Which is 75% on most characters haha. Perhaps I should put a video of that up. It also seems that was a few hits too many @_@, That would be awesome to do though. One of my main gripes is not being able to do anything after his command grab like in one of his videos where he grabbed then foot stomp to hook and super.

If you connect a command grab, just tag cancel, crouch FP into free charge super. Easiest 500+ damage ever.

How easy would it be to connect a command grab. Would that be a reliable mix up option?

I played a session with my brother. Whenever I had Steve out I found it difficult to punish any of his jump ins. I tried using crouch fierce but, its too unnrealiable. What anti-ait ahould I use against my opponents.

I albatross spin out or counter. I love albatross spin especially because it messes with your opponent.

Shame they nerfed Steve’s juggles in the final build. He doesn’t feel incredibly strong tbh. No high/low mix up really.

True, those crazy combos got my hopes up with him, but as he is now he is still a ton of fun. His low’s are lacking definitely, but you can frame trap pretty well with him. Which is good enough for me. Just watch out for reversals!

Im definitely maining steve however i’m currently havign a problem connecting a cr.mp or even jab after the “ducking body ducking hook” string. Can anyone give any pointers on this? Much would be appreciated.

You have to cancel the ducking hook into flicker stance by holding back, then cancel flicker stance by going to down back. Then do your jab.

Frame traps in a game with the worst throw range known to man doesn’t mean much when Heihachi can hit confirm overheads or rangey lows into huge damage

im trying to learn how to link a cr.mp afterwards so your saying i have to cancel from flicker afterwards?

Waste of time. Just do cr.LP after

The input is f+MP ~ LP > b > db > db+LP

So after you press light punch and see it connect, hold back to cance into Flicker stance, then go to down back to cancel flicker stance, then hit light punch.

You can’t combo into a launcher with no meter off cr.MP anyway and it doesn’t link into cr.HP which is the only normal with enough hit stun to cancel into a Ducking Skyscraper and launch.

I think I found a semi reliable way of cancelling into cr.HP from Ducking Hook! On hit the timing is like an SF4 cancel… do a reverse dragon punch motion and hit the HP button. I am hitting the link much more reliably now! And plink with HP + MK so if you do it too early you dont get an EX Flicker come out and waste a bar trying to do a meterless combo

If you can land it

Need to test how safe close st.HP is on block, but cr.LK > st.HP feels pretty hit confirmable.

In corner cr.LK > st.HP xx Ducking Skyscraper > st.HP > st.HP > st.HP xx Hellfire Rush 513 dmg 2 bars

495 dmg if you do HP > MP > HP and CONSIDERABLY easier

Tested and st.HP is safe to reversal Shoryus so it can’t be worse than -2 on block. So that gives you a pseudo Dudley Duck mix up WITH A COMMAND GRAB.

Yusssssss so stoked. How do you feel Steve is in this game (like what are his strengths/weaknesses)? A lot of people are dismissing him as bad already, but I’m still crossing my fingers!

sonic fang has invulnerability properties and that overhead we’ve seen heihachi players whoring out pre-release actually doesn’t combo on block. So if you can see that you can go ahead and punish accordingly.
