I know this is an old game but do any of you guys still play Ikaruga.
actually, I still have yet to have the pleasure of playing that game, despite how much I’ve heard about it. I hope that soon I’ll be able to get enough to get it. I have certain other parts of my own agenda that have to be met first, but I do believe that soon I’ll be on that one as well. I know that several others have played it in this thread alone, so I’m sure that if you have a question, an answer can be found here.

yea. it took me a while to pull that off. you have to find those tiny nooks amidst the onslaught. using a smaller ship makes it easier or the psi bits and anchor force!!. i had trouble on the bonus stage with the lasers+emenies from both sides shooting. man…i need to play throuh that again…i put like 70 hours into that game.
btw have you beat trizeal? that shit gets intense!
i can zip a copy if you want, or anyone else that my want it. ive got that trizeal, bangai oh!, ikaruga, and a PC version of castle shikagami.
I stopped fora long time, but lately I’ve gotten back into this with Einhander, Castle Shikigami 2(borrowed from a friend), and Gradius V. I wish I could find R-type Delta again, that game was sweet, way better than R-type Final IMO, except for the nice ship selection of course.
are those all PC? If they are, or at least PS2 or GC, could I get trizeal and bangaioh from you?
Can you please pass me a copy of that Trizeal please sir? Also, is that the DC version of Bangai Oh!?
yo, can anyone figure out how to get BPO:http://www.vector.co.jp/games/soft/win95/game/se282205.html to work? It’s supposed to be a bullet dodging game with bullet patterns made by your music, but I can’t get it to work with my MP3’s
It’s been a while so I might be wrong, but if I remember right I had to convert the songs I wanted to play to the ogg vorbis format.
damn that sucks, it says it’s supposed to play mp3’s =/
bangai oh and trizeal are DC versions i can zip it. just tell me where. my aim is :clairvidere:
btw: i still cannot beat einhander without dying…ill make it to like stage 5. and just start doing dumb shit. though one thing that helps is to get an extedned play on each level. which i watched that super play. and my high scores crush his…i want everything to be destroyed!
which superplay? The Khoa Vhong one? he practically DOES destroy everything, he doesn’t even die. Anyway, guess I don’t really need the iso’s I odn’t have a DC readily avilable. Friend has one, but it’d be a while before I can borrow it.
As for me, yeah I can only reach about level 4 or 5 in einhander before I get greedy and die. I just love the game though, I can’t really find fault with it.
I got that BPO thing to work too and ibanez was right, you just have to make all the songs ogg =/
Still playing Border Down. I’m still trying to get used to the border system, but I am totally digging the soundtrack.
sure. I’ll take a copy of them and see what I can do with them. E-mail is x_starhammer_x@hotmail.com

Arcade perfect Super Turbo on Vol 2.
WHAT??? Gun smoke?!? I’m on it. Thanks for the heads up. I used to BEAST on that game. I’m gonna look it up for NES again if I can find it and…well, You know.
…In other news, I FINALLY got all the ships in the game R-type Final. curtain call > the rest of that shit. mix and match weapons, pods, and missiles to make the ultimate flying bitch blasting, boss busting, you can’t hit me engine of destruction. now. that fucking stage where you have to go through on the first try without dying seems a LOT more possible. it’s time to take names and break frames like none other.

Well I finally ordered a new swapdisc so as soon as it gets here i’ll have copies of Dodonpachi Daioujou and Mushihimesama ready to go!
Also, I found a couple of awesome shooters online:
http://forum.digitalpanic.net/index.php?showtopic=8791&st=0
The one called Valstar on the first page, and the one called Suguri on the 2nd page. Valstar is pretty standard sidescrolling shmup style, a good solid game.
Suguri on the other hand is pretty difficult, and VERY different from standard shmups. There are 6 buttons, Weapon A fire, Weapon B fire, Dash, Hypershot(super), change target, change target in reverse order. Obviously this game is alot easier if you have a pad. The game system uses a lock-on that automatically locks on to an enemy when it enters the screen, and you can switch targets with whatever you map to it. To balance that, enemy fire tends to travel rather quickly, plus your weapons all have startup and recovery time. Also there are 3 types of enemy fire: beam, physical(mostly missiles), and a 3rd rare type which is not destroyable nor can be dashed through.
The weapons are equipable in any combination in your A or B slots. You start with 3 and earn more as you progress(might be time based) through the game. Now recovery may sound pretty lame, but you can cancel it into your other weapon or your dash.
The Dash gives you invincibility from laser and energy shots but physical ammo will still hit you. If you activate an attack while dashing, sometimes the weapon properties will change(e.g. the beam rifle fires 3 shots at 25% strength instead of one). Also, when the rainbow colored rings the dash generates contact enemy ammo of any sort, even if you do not, it adds to your super guage which is maxed at 3 levels. Limitations are your heat percentage which makes you take more damage the higher it is. Maxes out at 300%, though you can still use it at that time, it will keep your defense very low, running into a missile or bomb would hurt REALLY bad.
There is a different super for every type of weapon in the game, if it’s equipped in the A slot, you just press the super button and it activates. For the B slot weapon press the b slot button and the super button together. During activation and until it ends you’re invincible to attack, however none of them can be re-aimed and most of them do need to be timed so that the enemy isn’t moving if say they’re in the middle of an attack or something. To build the gauge you can either hit enemies with your weapons or use the dash rings.

Home of Rayhound and Warning Forever. Rayhound is mouse game where you use the enemy’s laser shots and redirect thim or “grab” them and shot them back at your enemies. Warning Forever is a great boss battle rush game with I believe 35 levels. If you can read Japanese he has instructions on how to add your own soundtrack and how to program it.

Has a shmup called Wrath, pretty good vert scroller, sprites are kinda big though.

Go to “Game” and DL Vacant Ark. An underwater/merman themed game with an intresting ammo and shield system, hard to get used to but very fun.
I got a copy of Ikaruga and Trizeal but hook me up with the rest plz :lovin:
Gasaraki: Do you think you can upload Valstar and Suguri on megaupload or some other hosting site? I can’t get the torrents to work. Thanks :wgrin:
Also, how is Giga Wing 2 for the DC? I am thinking about picking that up…
Giga Wing 2 is fucking amazing. It’s short, but if you play for score the game becomes a blast, as you concentrate your effort on making the screen explode with medals. The game is also very well designed around the reflect - barrier technique. Couple that with 5 standard ships and another 5 unlockable, and you’ve got a surprising amount of replayability.
