you can follow that link to a large number of crazy ass FREE Shooter games. Perfect Cherry Blossom is one of my favorites. Go for it!!! Shoot 'em up!!!
This thread is in the tech talk forums of SRK. As it says, they get technical in there. Check out the immense swag!! I’m near to jealous of some of their setups.
ahhhh shmups. like water for me, neccesary for my survival.
I’ve been spinning Cybattler, Rayforce, and R-Type Leo on my shooter play list as of late. I really want to master Rayforce in particular.
Cybattler is so awesome though. I see that shooters with health gauges should have checkpoints instead of instantly returning after death. Smart. Being able to bump into enemies and attack at a close range kick all sorts of ass.
This will be the best place to ask this question. Last year at otakon i saw a bunch of loosers huddled around a game that looked lik a vetically scrolling shooter where you played as people not ships. It looked fairly recent with 3-d effects, enemies and character. And i distinctly remember someone playing as a guy in a suit.
Thanks for bringing this thread back Starhammer, I forgot all about it for a while.
Two games I’d recommend playing on that site:
Rally Raid: Game is very fast paced, nice music, and a laser beam that fills as you collect green squares. The trick to the laser is the fact that when you shoot it, a it counter appears on around the top right corner of your screen. Well, it has a hit limit and as you keep hitting things with your laser the hit counter increases and if you can pass the hit limit, the beam will recharge itself, so you can inflict more damage.
Tumiki Fighters: I like this game because of the fact that as you destroy an enemy, you can run up to them while they’re falling and have them attach to your ship, causing it to not only start making your ship look bigger and offer more protection, but to also use their firepower for your use, and you can attach to pretty much any enemy. The problem is as you attach more and more, your ship gets bigger, but If you hold your ‘‘X’’ key down, the attachments will shrink inside your ship, so you can manuever better, but you while doing this you can’t attach anything else until you let your attachments back out.
man, that one is THE hardest one to get. You have to beat the game on hard without continuing. by the time youi get it, you probably won’t even care anymore. still, double-juno with 10’000 rounds a piece is nothing short of pure and total ownage.
Shooters aren’t really about beating them, it’s about score… in my prime I scored an S++ rank in Chapters 1 and 2, and an S in Chapter 3… (EDIT: which means my interest is more focused on skills than seeing the ending). I haven’t played Ikaruga in a while though, so it would take me several months of practice to do that again…
