Sexy.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for those links, Iām downloading valstar right now. itās going slow, so Iāll wait on suguri.
ā¦By the way, that chick in your av is dangerously close to getting shot.
-Starhammer-
So it turns out thereās a sequal to Suguri, but itās a fighting game, it kinda plays a bit like Senko no Ronde if any of you know what that is. Itās on the same forum I linked to earlier, if someone wants an upload instead of a torrent just ask.
They game is pretty different, and there are some controls you might not figure out so if anyone cares to know Iāll write what I DO know about the game so far.
I checked out valstar and suguri andā¦DAYUM!!! Thanks for the link Iāll be checking out the others as soon as I can.
-Starhammer-
I found a site somewhere(was it here?) called SimulationStyle that has a ton of doujin shmups. Thereās a REALLY nice war style one called Blue Sabers.
thanks. Iāll check this one out too. heh. Iāll have lots of different ways of getting shot here. I wonāt even need anything for Christmas, Iāll have plenty already.

Finally got to play Dodonpachi: Daioujou (large princess? weird name) and Mushihimesama.
DDP:DOJ is way to hard for me to play on a non vertical screen, and I dontā have a small enough TV for me to want to risk turning it on itās side. Also, itās frustrating when you see the superplay vids included in the game =/
MHS on the other hand seems much easier, though still hard, I can only get to level 3 on one credit in Original mode. I kinda like the lighter tone of the action though, itās sorta relaxing in a weird way.
Got to one of the last areas in Vacant Ark, that game is so sweet. Still canāt beat it though
The first game in the series, Donpachi, literally translates as āleader bee.ā
The second game, Dodonpachi, literally translates as āangry bee boss.ā
Dai Ou Jou literally translates as āpeaceful deathā.
But really, Donpachi or Dodonpachi is an onomatopoeia for the sound of gunfire, and yes, the game is ridiculously hard.
It is hard, but not as hard as DDJ, and youāll find yourself improving a lot faster.
If you like these two games, you should check out some other manic schmups made by Cave.
Donpachi
Dodonpachi
Esp.Ra.De
Espgaluda(I highly recommend)
Dangun Feveron(Mame only)
Progear(Mame only)
Ibara
new shooter coming to dreamcast, looks pretty good

this thread is huge so if anyone already posted this sorry
The gunfire onomatopoeia I knew, but not about Dai Ou Jou. I though it was Dai(large/big) Oujou(title for a princess or girl of very high class). And actually itās probably a pun then since all the character pilots are girls.
What systems are those for? all PS2? I donāt own or can afford a saturn so any of those would be a no for me.
I know DonPachi and DoDonPachi are on the Saturn, 'cause I have them. They might be on the original PlayStation as well.
I donāt think ESP.Ra.De or Dangun Feveron got home versions, though Ibara is out for PS2
You can get these on MAME.
Donpachi
Dodonpachi
Esp.Ra.De
Dangun Feveron(Mame only)
Progear(Mame only)
the other two I donāt know about. Dangun Feveron wonāt work for me, so I dontā know anything about it either. Also, if anyone has any solutions to some of the games that show up but donāt work, PM me. I donāt think youāre allowed to talk about anything concerning fixing games on here. if you are, then gimmie the knowledge.
ā¦Dodonpachi rocks. Aknowledge this as the truth it is.
-Starhammer-
so, anyone wanna tell me how to use mame and where to get the games cause Iām clueless as all hell.
MAME is an emulator for arcade games. Iām not sure if Iām allowed to tell you where to get the games, but that should give you some indication of where to look.
Dangun Feveron, ESP.Ra.De, and Progear all work with MAME32 097.
Espgaluda(sequel to ESP.Ra.De) and Ibara are available for the PS2.
Donpachi and Dodonpachi are on the PS1 as well as the Saturn, so you shouldnāt have any trouble playing them since youāve been playing DDJ and MHS on your PS2.
Well, I couldnāt find ESP.Ra.De but I did find Dangun and Progear. Dangun is really, really odd, but Progear is awesome, definitely liking that one. Too bad they havenāt come out on systems =/
How much do you know about Progear? Iāve figured out some basics, but whatās up with the scoring at the end of levels? Also, I THINK you turn bullets into gems by having them caught in the explosion of an enemy, is that right?
Woot shooters! At first the only shooters Iāve ever really enjoyed was Metal Slug. Fast uncomplicated pretty action. Just the right amount of everything to make me still come back to it 10 years from its original release.
Then I played DoDonPanchi
Needless to say, the game was out-of-this-world AMAZING. It wasnāt complicated(rapid A for bullets, hold A for laser, B for bomb), but yet it still made you think about when you to use what in different situations. Loved the level design, the music, the super-deformed enemy tanks and such, EVERYTHING. I learned how to move through pink swarms of bullets, and dance the deadly game of avoiding the bullet hell. Iāve played lots of shooters after that(actually only around 30 or so), but IMO DoDonPanchi stands heads and shoulders above them all.
Iām also a big Cave fanboy now, and see games like ESP.Re.De, Guwange, and Progear as classics that no one should deny(DonPachi and Danguan aināt too bad either:tup: )
Did some Gradius V ohh how i missed theeā¦
Man, I never realized how AWESOME MAME is. Glad I DLed it, been playin Cyvern, Guwange, more Progear, Dodonpachi, etc. Great stuff.
^Yep, without MAME I wouldnāt be able to enjoy some many arcade classics I do today.
Cause I didnāt want to make a thread for it, and it seemed to be the best place to post thisā¦

The first game was cool as fuck so Iām glad, butā¦how in the hell did they sneak this past Sonyās anti 2d policies???:wtf:
