I been playing eXceed 3rd Black package lately, and realllyyyyy wanna get crimson clover
Development costs for one. Xbox 360 is just cheaper to port their games to (excluding Wii Iām sure). I also believe that Sony requires native 16:9 support (without border artwork), where as most of Caveās games are not. Iām not sure how much truth there is to that though, as some PSN games are 16:9 *with *borders (Mega Man 9 and 10 for instance).
Anyway, Caveās excuse now is that theyāve developed a considerable domestic audience on Xbox 360.
I just got MMP/PS in the mail today and Iām super excited to play it. For the last two years Iāve only been able to play it when people brought cabinets to conventions, and now itās all mine!
^ I am sure they could find some way around it if they wanted to. Plus region coding wouldnāt be an issue like it is on xbox.
To add to what scum gale said, the PS3 install base is over four times larger. With shmups being such a niche genre, they can use all the sales they can get. Thereās also the fact that Exzeal and Raiden IV arenāt made by Cave.
Besides, anyone in Japan who owns a 360 probably also has a PS3. Again, with the PS3 being region free, it would make the games more accessible to American and European schmup fans. The latter especially arenāt going to buy a Japanese 360 considering that theyād have to pay far higher tariffs on top of the $300 price tag. Seriously, for the price of a Japanese X360 + about 50 bucks, I could buy Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets, Death Smiles, Raiden IV, Exzeal, Mushi-Futari, and Espgaluda II.
No matter, though. I waited years for a MAME port to be able to play Ketsui, Iām sure I can do it for these games as well. Iāve got plenty of other schumps to keep me occupied in the mean time.
Meh, they should just borrow Capcomās GGPO enabled CPS2 emulator for PSN/XBLA that they used for FF:DI and bring out Progear.
Anyone in Japan who likes shmups has a 360. Why would they buy PS3 releases of games they already have? If anything thatās a bad idea, since the leaderboards are split, and port quality will fluctuate.
But no matter. Itās not like you care about this, all you want is everything to come to your precious console.
Itās pretty simple, Sony rejected them, Microsoft said OK. Just another fuckup by overbearing, overcontrolling Sony, you should be used to that by now.
Hey guy anyone know any good ways to get shot on Ipod Touch?
DoDonPachi Resurrection and Espgaluda II are available on iOS now, DeathSmiles releasing this spring.
No shit huh? Man how does one get through DDP on a handheld lol
From what I hear itās a bit easier since you have more accuracy with your finger, but I donāt even like using a normal controller for my shooters, let alone a touchscreen.
Why they can do $10 iOS ports and not get some more of their games on XBLA is something Iād like to know though.
I have EspII and DDPR on my iPhone, it controls quite well. It has a few ābuttonsā on the side of the screen for things like switching to laser, hyper, etc. And autofire is on by default. Theyāre definitely great to have on the go.
As for why theyāre doing iOS ports, theyāre probably far cheaper to make and distribute than XBLA games and probably have a higher potential profit margin as well.
huzzah indeed. The video has me convinced already.
Unfortunately, Iāve been on DCUO for the past few days and I havenāt been getting shot as much as I should. not only that, but this game is eating up TOO MUCH SPACE!!! New hard drive time!
-Starhammer-
The PS3 isnāt precious to me at all, and if it werenāt for Warhawk and Little Big Planet, I wouldnāt even have one. I really donāt care that much for any of the three current gen systems, which clearly includes the PS3. Letās say that all Japanese shmup fans have a 360. That still doesnāt account for the US and EU, the latter of which has just as many shmup players.
Had you actually paid attention to what I had posted instead of trying to shoot off with some witty comment, youād have seen that my gripe about the games being released on the 360 is the fact that itās not region free, which means that Iād have to spend twice as much money to play them. To clarify, if the PS3 were not region free and those games had been released for it, I wouldnāt spend 300 dollars on a Japanese PS3, either. Had those games been released on PC(which Iām sure everyone in Japan who plays shmups has as well), Iād be fine with it. My problem is the cost of having to buy another system, not āeverything coming to my precious console.ā
Nintendo and Microsoft are just as overbearing and controlling(and greedy), which is something that we should ALL be used to by now, but thatās kind of off-topic, so Iāll leave it at that.
I think March is the month of the shmups. I honestly can only afford one of them though.
