There are a lot of free and cheap PC shooters out there. Some older systems like the Turbo-Grafx16(and even MAME) have some lesser-known shooters that are just as good as anything being released today.
Your posts are just rehashing complaints from 2008, when everyone else complained about it.
Sony said no to CAVE because the games were old, arcade-style, and not HD. Sony has a particular âfeelâ theyâre going for, which is why you see tons of Arcade/ports on 360 but very very few on PS3. One of the devs mentioned this in an interview around the same time.
I read your post the first time, and I agree, it was stupid on Sonyâs part; however, my complaint isnât about my preference of having the games on one system over another, but about the fact that the games being 360 exclusive(and hence region locked) makes them less accessible. The more people who can access newer games in this genre, the better. IMO it would be better just to release them on PC, but we know thatâs not going to happen outside of doujin titles and emulation.
Anyway, I think the thread has been derailed enough, so this will be my last post on the subject. Iâd hate to see this turn into squabble over âconsole warsâ or something equally as silly.
Ty. The Empire of Ammo is a place of peaceâŚ
âŚexcept when we blow shit up!~!!!
Bangai-O HD Missile Fury looks $ick! XD
No, you donât have to spend twice as much money to play them. Either buy a Japanese 360 and stick with it, or buy a US 360 and play the region-free shmups. At least a few titles are region-free, which is better than nothing.
If either of these options bother you, your original stance of âwahh, itâs not on my consoleâ rings true.
Complaining about a game being region-locked, moreso on a forum that doesnât cater to the genre and wonât be seen by anyone who can influence this, isnât going to help.
People are not releasing titles for the 360 in Japan deliberately because theyâre locked, theyâre doing so because itâs a platform thatâs easier to develop for.
Check your pmâs.
Just got a copy of Space Megaforce for my SNESâŚgotdamn this game is awesome. Check it out if you havenât already.
played galaga at this pretty crappy arcade the other day got the top scores and put naughty words for all to see
best shooter on the snes imo.
*edit.
Been playing quite a bit of Batrider lately. I adore the game yet I loathe it, self-adjusting difficulty can kiss my ass!
Thatâs the Empire of Ammo for ya. Even Arguments get shot.

I think over spring break, since I am broke, I might go for the gold and 1cc Batrider. Survival only. I just have a hard time understanding the rank adjusting, which is one of the main reasons why I couldnât get into Raizing shooters.
If itâs anything like MMP (I havenât played Raizing games yet tbh) then the rank is directly correlated to the number of lives you have. The more extends you get, the harder the game becomes. Just stay at the standard three lives (aka suicide) if you extend and the rank should go back down. However I know Batrider has the medal system in it too but I donât know if itâs any different, having never actually played it so the rank adjusting may be entirely different in that game
All I know about it is that collecting power ups raises the rank, and the rank starts at max when it boots up. I should do some research later on the finer points.
Not as badly as the 4th level boss has been shooting me in my attempted no-miss through Dodonpachi Iâve been working on for the last few days.
I can no-miss the first level with my eyes closed. After that I just lose track.
I can get through the first three levels with only one bomb at the worst, then I usually have to use one during the fourth level, but the fourth level boss with his damn laser beams and that one bullet pattern before he dies always seems to mess me up.
A trick Iâve that helps me is to power up and rely more on the shot instead of the laser and also to resist the temptation to get the gold bees.
I tend to rely on laser more than shot. Mostly for the aura damage boost for getting in their face, and protection against kamikaze popcorn enemies. Plus, I use the red ship, so itâs not like I have to worry about shot spread.
Another thing you can do is if you get a few extends, you can bomb the brains out of the bosses and then just kill yourself to get more when you run out.
Any particular reason you use the red ship?
faster, more efficient shot, plus the green cockpit in the front gives me a perfect view of the hitbox. The green/blue ships its harder for me to distinguish where the hitbox is, their shots can obscure enemy bullets sometimes. Their speed is different too, doesnât feel right. Plus on second loops do you really want suicide bullets hitting you from angles other than directly in front of you?
How would you get an extend from bombing the bosses? Seems like a waste of bombs, but then again I try to go for no-bomb runs as often as possible.
