Found this in Kotaku. It’s an indie shmup where set in 16th century Mars under British colonial rule.
It’s 17th century and yeah this game looks neat. Since we all have widescreens these days it’ll be nice to see how four people can shoot shit up together at once. A lot of times having just two people on can feel hectic and the action just becomes an even bigger unmanageable clusterfuck. Since they are indie I hope they do a quick port to 360.
Speaking of indie shmups/shooters, anybody heard of Hydorah? Came out a month ago, has a huge Gradius feel.
Even though I already own the imports, here’s hoping Deathsmiles sells well enough to convince Cave and Aksys to continue their partnership with Mushi Futari, Galuda 2, etc.
I picked up DS last week and damn, now i know why japan loves it soo much! I def like it over espgulda 2 and possibly over futari! Sad it took me this long to get my hands on this game but i love it! And i think if u r a cave fan u should get it! and dont be like all the online reviews and complain about the price. I would spend 50 dollars easy to play that game in the arcade, nevermind own it on console
THIS! THIS SO MUCH.
Yeah DS is a fucking awesome game, anyone care to give a run down on some scoring tactics?
Edit: scratch that, how about survival tips lol
Check your manual. Seriously. It has tips on everything including how to 1cc the game.

MBL 1.1 is like crack.
CROWNS.
CROWNS EVERYWHERE.
To fight the True Boss (Bloody Jitterbug) in MBL, you have to play the entire game on Level 999, including both Extra Stages and you have to make it to Tyrannosatan without losing a life. You can die once you get to Tyrannosatan.
To fight the True Boss in MBL 1.1, you just have to 1cc the game.

Ohhhhh. I wonder what he says before attacking.
And Adverse, I so want to do mixes for shmups. I was listening to Einhander’s soundtrack today and I thought about how well the levels were timed with the music and how rare it is to see anyone do it today. Then you posted that vid in response to the crowns and I figure why not make mixes to match the game! I’d love to hear that come out of no where when I start raking in crowns. I needs to do this.
And while we talk more about more hardcore console/arcade based shooters I have to give props to Taito again for **Space Invaders Infinity Gene **(soon due out on 360 and PS3 but don’t worry, they won’t be direct ports at all). They just updated it with three ($1.99 each) theme, ship, and 2 level packs. I just bought all three because I’m a whore for this game. The Darius level is cute and the background for Night Stalker is well done. Didn’t try the Metal Black stage yet but since I bought all three packs I unlocked the R-Gray from Raystorm and it’s homing power on level one is beastly enough alone so I can’t wait to see it powered up (the stage I chose was as standard and boring as could be. Just the invaders. No big ships). Anyway, it’s a great filling ( ) to have Deathsmiles at home and Infinity Gene on the go.
Now where is that Darius Burst damn it?!
did anybody get that Ultimate Shooting Collection for Wii? I have Radilgy and Crows for DC but not Chaos Field. is there any difference between the versions/extras/etc?
That is fucking awesome
Great Cave, just great. I have to buy ANOTHER one of your games now.
Glad to see more Cave worldwide (or unlocked) releases. Something you wouldn’t expect about 2 years ago.
Kotaku posts enthusiastic, positive Deathsmiles review, commenters reply with retardation. Half of me really wants to write a rant against this generation of gamers’ perception of “value” and “price”, but the other half knows it sadly won’t change a thing.
Cave’s new shooter: Akai Katana.
On a related note, isn’t there something about MS Japan not wanting any more arcade perfect releases on XBLA? I believe this was the original reason why Ketsui came out on disc and probably why DeathSmiles is retail as well.
EDIT:
More info on Akai Katana from NeoGAF. It’s a horizontal shooter with a military theme, and features a two pilot system. People are already calling it the spiritual successor to Progear.
FUCK. YES.
That sounds awesome, REGION FREE PORT PLEASE. Or just fucking bring that shit over here.
The latter. At this point, after Deathsmiles and Guwange. Oh and Espaluga on the iPhone, Cave just needs to treat the rest of the world like their home market (minus the arcade releases). I’m down for just about anything they throw our way.
thinking about getting ds for my foster brother. the soundtrack’s dope. i know i’m late for asking this, but can anyone tell me what the deal is with the cave shumps being 360 only? i’m not trying to console bash, or anything like that. i just believe that the games would do quite well on the ps3.
