SE should bring back Einhander.
Einhander was awesome. I wish I could play it again to this dayâŚ
Alright, what good SHMUPs are available on the PS3/PSN? Iâm aware of the Gundemonium collection, and am considering it, but what else is there? I tend to like the Bullet Hell variety, stuff like Giga Wing and ESP Ra De and Dodonpachi and all that. Is Death Smiles out for PS3?
Not so interested in the Geometry Wars type, simply because I prefer those on PC, and rock Beat Hazard and Squid Harder anyway.
Speaking of Beat Hazard, we should play a high score game with the same songs, if anyoneâs up for it.
SE should have been did that.
And youâd think it would at least get a bare bones port on the PSN. Several pages back I pitched an idea for a remake that just added a few stages to flesh out the story.
Iâm not trying to be a dick but I donât think the PS3 has any bullet hell games. The Xbox was the console to get for shmups man. We even have really cool indie shmups on the indie channel now.
^âŚYep. thatâs about true.
-Starhammer-
oh that game is ridiculous :looney:
looks bad in HD though.
I just played a few games of counter strike since it came out for mac. It has been 8 solid years of never playing it and now I suck SO BAD. I canât even hit a target, much less aim for their head.
Thatâs what I thought too, but never hurts to ask.
Oh well. Iâll make doâŚsomehow. :\
Yeah, thatâs a bit more accurate.
Really guy? Troll much?
Maybe we need to put SHMUP in the topic title, just to be clear.
A lot of people shorten FPS to just âshooterâ nowadays and the like.
That may be true but I mean, you KNOW this guy had to have read at least three of the posts above him. Context clues? We are talking about Einhander and DeathsmilesâŚ
the gundemonium recollection collection that came out on psn. hands down the best shooters i have ever played period. and yest they are bullet hell games.

Counter Smiles?
Death Strike?
Agreed
Just wanted to share this little fangame project Iâve been working on for the past month or so.

Props my dude. Props. Iâll have to read it later.
So I just went through my first play through of Deathsmiles. I didnât know it was a vertical bullet hell shmup! Thatâs so awesome! (I honestly bought the game solely on word of mouth and the stuff in the Limited Edition)
So Iâm really digging it so far. Iâm still running through continues like a gambling addict at slots but Iâm having fun learning the game. You adapt quick to shooting either left or right! Oh and the manual for this game is so useful, so many great helpful hints. This game feels like a labor of love on both sides on the Pacific and I hope that me purchasing it will lead to more Cave shmups coming to America!
Oh and this soundtrack is bad ass. I love electronic-gothic-game-rock-jazz. Some of my favorite game music thatâs for damn sure.
Now Iâll have to subscribe to this thread, to be honest, it really sounded like a FPS thread from the title.
Picked up Deathsmiles a few days ago, TuesdayâŚXD, no Bison joke here. Gotta say, they did a great job on the small fixes that the Japanese version needed, thereâs a safe spot on the forest boss in the Japanese version.
Does anyone know what some of the secret achievements are yet? Iâm sure that one of them must be to get to the âtrue bossâ like most shmups have when you donât use a continue.
Iâm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Deathsmiles is the best North American retail shmup on the 360 there is. I have done four play thrus so far. My thumbs are tired.
I find the special 360 controls to be a bit cumbersome. Iâm talking about the one where the right analog stick controls the familiar. Heavy (hold) attacks still move the familiar as well so it feels a bit strange. Iâm growing more accustomed to the normal way of playing.
Beware some of the hardcore hate the term âshmupâ but most of them lurk on the neo-geo boards. :wgrin:
Donât expect too much of the demo though. Doing everything myself is hard and the gameâs in need of some better animation. Also, difficulty might be iffy since I can never seem to figure out if the stages are too easy or Iâm simply getting better at it.
On DeathSmiles, nice to see Cave doing a horizontal shooter again. I enjoyed Progear and would like to see them do more. Too bad I donât have a 360 (competitive fighting scene in this country is somewhat PS3 based).
Also, Gundemonium is as good as bought for me. About time PS3 got something that wasnât euro.
