MAME uses a lot of resources for its emulation, which will explain the slowdown. A faster CPU and more ram should straighten that out.
wait a sec. you can get rayforce on MAME?
…E-mail me some info!!! I’ve wanted to smash that final shooter for a while.
-Starhammer-
Yep. Been playable for quite some time now, though you may need newer versions and a pretty powerful computer to get the full effect.
I have a 850mhz CPU and there’s some slowdown, so I assume if you have at least a 1 GHz processor, it should run smoothly.
EDIT: Check your email, Star.
It is also possible on some games that mame ‘emulates’ the slow down. There was a discussion on some shmup forums for how ddp is much ‘faster’ in some emulators (raine etc) and with mame there is slow down like in the arcade.
Oh man… whoever does that better have his recorder on… sounds like something you can only pull off once.
If anybody thinks that they are better then me at CS 1.6, Please PM me so that we can… play around in some servers… for a bit.
and by “play” I mean, “ME OWNING YOUR BITCH ASS”
word.
Wrong shooter homey :wgrin:
naaawwww, CS 1.6 is THE shooter game. Source does not even compare to the greatness that 1.6 owns.
Plus, how can anybody be good at any other shooter game if they have not played counter strike? CS is just one of those games every shooter should have played.
If you’re any good give me a shout, even if you’re the only one that thinks your good, give me a shout. I’ll tell you if your good or not.
word.
^no, you don’t understand, this is not an FPS thread, this is a thread for “shoot-em up’s” AKA “shmups”. Prime examples being Gradius, R-type, 1942, and Ikaruga.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh I see now… So this is one of those “scrolling shooter games” threads.
Allllllllllllright then, my bad…
yall are still worst then me at 1.6 though… tee hee hee.
word.
:wow: Whoa…the arcades actually had slowdown?! I didn’t know about that.

this one comes to us from my friend Omniexist. mushihimesama IS that shit we shooters seek.
-Starhammer-
thanks. Downloaded it and I am about to go get myself shot.

You bitches play Warning Forever or Ray Hound?
Great stuff.
rRootage > Warning Forever
My computer is 2ghz.
It’s actually quite possible the arcade had slowdown. Lots of arcade titles had slowdown. It’s running off an old crappy 1993 Taito board and it’s pushing a TON of scaling/rotation effects at one time, plus a ton of shit on screen by 93 standards.
The Saturn handles the game w/o a hitch, there’s never even a hint of slowdown. Plus if you have a big TV you can put on its side Saturn even supports Tate mode!
Saturn versions are called Layer Section, Gun Lock, and Galactic Attack for the J., EU., and US. versions respectively. Did I mention there’s no loading time and heavy transparency effects on the Saturn one as well?
Yeah rRootage is cool as heck. BUT, Warning Forever’s evolving boss concept and main weapon is what makes it so special.
Yeah rRootage is damn cool. I think the music is great and I love how they ‘striped’ down the ship to just a shell and a clearly visible hit box. The main gun is just unexciting (bombs are cool and unique though).
Man the PSP needs to turn into a micro pc and play games like these. Fudge.
Yeah, the Taito F3…interesting. I thought arcades were supposed to be the perfect version.
On another note, I do recall Raiden Fighters Jet having some slowdown as well.

Google Video FTW
Haha, fair enough. I prefer rRootage’s variety of gameplay modes and the whole “jump into what level you like and play” thing.
