I find Einhander to be a little over-rated, though I will say it’s pretty damn good for Square’s sophomore shooter effort (the first being the near-unplayable King’s Knight. Gross), and the music rocks my honky ass.
Right now, I’m trying to 1CC Soldier Blade and the awesome and largely overlooked Homura. My words really can’t do Homura justice. This game is just so"videogamey" and fucking good. If you have the means to play J-PS2 games, please, treat yourself. You’ve earned it.
Did anyone catch that Kenta Cho interview on MTV a while back? Though a little part of me died seeing shooters on MTV, it’s still good to get the genre some much-needed publicity in the US.
I thought those conditions were disjoint, i.e. you only had to satisfy one of them to access the second loop, and then you could die / continue as many times as you wanted to reach Hibachi.
Regardless, I get a kick out of seeing players accomplish insane things in Cave games, more power to them if they can.
On that note, here’s a video of someone without dying or using bombs. Guy doesn’t make it, but considering he only had one life and no bombs left, it’s an admirable effort.
I hear ya on that. Parodius has made me throw many a controller, especially playing it on MAME when it’s in Japanese. still, I have to do it. it’s in my blood.
Still like Parodius more, but this game does look interesting and I hope the console ports, most likely Wii and maybe PS3, will include the Parodius games as a bonus.
Cool stuff. Man, those enemy attack patterns in the beginning are EXACTLY like the Gradius series. Of course, you probably already know that. Nice looking game though.
Otomedius sort of looks it has the substandard gameplay of Parodius without the sense of humor that makes the series so enjoyable. Grating stage music aside (“muchi muchi poku!” x n), Cave’s Muchi Muchi Pork, , was what I thought to be the most promising game at AOU.
Trying to get all of those bees is extremely difficult because it throws you out of position and sometimes just gets you outright trapped in a bullet curtain from which there’s no escape.
The first requirement is that you can’t die more than once, not twice, and using only three bombs, jesus.
You can continue all you want in the second loop, but in levels four and five, you have to start all over from the beginning, so in effect, you have to get through those levels with only two deaths, both times.
I must have died like 30 times against the 4th boss in R-Type Final. There’s this annoying part where these little fishes try to hit you and you only have a small area to hide in before a giant alien head falls on you. Bah!
It sucks because I made it all the way up to there with one life and fucked it all up at that one part.
upon this post, I, Starhammer, bestow upon Darkstalker, the title of rRootage BADASS!!! Go forward, badass of rRootage, and proceed to get everybody shot.
grr… damn link is so choppy I turned it off. along with his question, has anyone played dangun ferveron (sp?) not too bad IMO. I haven’t played it all the way through, but it’s a nice little bullet-dodging exercise so far.
TNPR - Ketsui has been out in arcades since 2002, but hasn’t been ported to any consoles yet because the hardware of the sixth generation consoles wasn’t enough. Look for a PS3 release sometime in the next few years.
Starhammer - I play Daungun Feveron all the time. Keep in mind that it is made by Cave, so it’s going to get really crazy in the later levels.
TWO true last bosses?! :wow: I seriously don’t know if my brain will be able to handle seeing them in action. Cave seems to want to throw down the challenge of a lifetime on this one.
I thought I mastered RayForce, seeing as how I can beat the Saturn version on 1 credit.
Then I realized the Saturns default dificulty is lower than that of the Arcade. God damnit!
Also, is it just me or is the Saturn one “better” than Arcade perfect, or is it just my Mame? Mame version slows down in parts, and has lower grade music, whereas Saturn never slows.
