The shooter games thread returns! The Empire Of Ammo says, EVERYBODY GETS SHOT!

Cool a shmup thread.

Here’s a freeware shmup that I really like. It’s a bit too easy on remix mode but the original mode on Insane (or Shooter God) is really fun, fast, and tough.

I assume you’ve all blown through Zanac by now, but I figured I’d plug it because it’s hella fun. All of the Compile shooters are good.

Also, Jets’n’Guns - the Gold version has been made a LOT more hardcore, the first half of the game is actually challenging now. Start on Hard mode, and it’s brutal, but it gets a lot easier closer to the end, unless you handicap yourself.

http://insomnia.ac/japan/mushihime-sama_futari/ I thought you’d all like to see that. Even with what they said, I want to play them side by side and make my own judgements about the game. I don’t think it’s as bad as the person writing the article has made it out to be.

actually, I missed it when It first came out. is it worth picking up now with all the other craziness out there? Jet’s’n’guns I never even heard of. time to go hunting I guess.

Parodius Portable, Twinbee Portable, and Salamander Portable are now available on Play-Asia.com.

maybe it’s just me, but it’s not letting me download anything, even on the direct link. it just keeps giving me the runaround. I’ll keep trying it later though.

I want some super play videos please…

No, not Ikaruga.

Blessed is on its final version with all redrawn graphics.

and they got a new demo of a sidescroller called Force Majeure

http://www.daikenkai.com/monokey/

try them.

Feels like forever since I took part in this thread.

Anyways, I don’t think I saw Cho Ren Sha mentioned. A really small shooter but it’s absurdly tough (big ship) and the graphics are SPECTACULAR for its file size.

great stuff gents. I’ll crack them open later on to see what they are like. yeah, I haven’t been in much either due to work. those poor bastards. they thought they were going to get away with being cheap asses on us when they cut our overtime and tried to stiff us on the pay raise. all they did was shoot themselves in the feet with a bazooka. I’m getting hours all day now AND my pay raise was bigger than what I would’ve agreed to, simply because now they can’t afford to have me quit. sometimes, I love being me.

http://www.super-play.co.uk/index.php?content=2 no sooner asked than delivered. check out that Einhander vid. Absolute SICKNESS!!!

-Starhammer-

c’mon shooters. get up and get shootin!!!

http://www.super-play.co.uk/index.php?content=2&gameid=32 I want that game now even more because of the insane vids I’ve seen.

Back to Einhander for a sec: has anyone ever tried beating the game with the little police cruiser? I’m trying it now just to see what happens at the end. Since it isn’t an ship from the moon, I wonder if the ending will change?

-Starhammer-

thanks. salamander!

Mushihimesama Futari 1.5’s Ultra Mode has a “True Final Boss”. That is, a boss that only appears if you clear the game without continuing / dying / something (method hasn’t been released in English yet). Seems that Cave felt the existing final boss wasn’t hard enough. Good for them, I guess. Means Ultra Mode superplays will now be even MORE retarded once they appear.

Ironically, I was playing Life force (Salamander in Japan ) when I read this. I don’t suppose you were looking over my shoulder, were you?

Bump, so more people can get shot!!

I just happen to be addicted to it. Its gradius minus thinking (grr!!) about when to use powerups.

The OMG LOLI invasion continues… Otomedius (isn’t ‘otome’ Japanese for ‘virgin’ or ‘premature?’) revealed at the AOU show… it’s a horizontal shooter, and the suffix suggests it’s a Gradius-based game. Should be cool, or at least way disturbing.

Or, it could be that Cave wants to get players to spend more money trying to meet impossible criteria so that they can subequently spend more money trying to beat an insanely difficult boss.

Sound familiar? If not, then Hibachi from the Donpachi games should ring a bell. Trying to reach, let alone, destroy him in Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou is especially a bitch.

-You can’t die more than twice
-You have to collect all ten gold bees in three of the levels
-You can’t die in any of the levels where you collected the then bees
-You can’t use more than three bombs

I remember beating Contra 3: Alien Wars on hard back in SNES times. Final Boss ver. 2 (WTF). I know y’all remember Gunac for NES. It amazed me at the time because there weren’t too many GREAT shooters recently (I was getting over Image Fight). That being said, Image Fight when I played it for the MAME was stupid hard.
