man, that marx matrix kicks ass isn’t a revelation. that is a fact of life. one ship, one button, and it stomps the fuck out of tiles that have come before and some that have come after it. (MissionXX, I’m looking at you now. ) Twinkle star sprites? MAN I can’t get down with it. I know what’s up. I need that second player. if any of you wanna get down at it, say the word. I’ll MAME that shit up with you when I get the chance. Gunbird2? Been there son. you’re right. it’s good. it’s tough enough to scare off some kids, but if you don’t mind dodging some ammo, come on in. same for E.S.P.RaDe.

If you guys haven’t seen the videos of Mushihimesama Futari 1.5’s ULTRA MODE, damn…just…fuck. The Shmups.com forum thread has links to videos and whatnot. The last boss of the game in Ultra has borderline impossible bullet patterns. I seriously have no idea where Cave is going to go from here in terms of making ridiculously hard games.
Oh yeah, I second the Mars Matrix love. A game that I seriously don’t play enough of. I’ll also nominate Giga Wing 2 though - making the screen explode with medals never gets old. I also recently purchased Thunderforce V (PSX), I need to play it more but it looks promising so far.
I haven’t played enough of Mars Matrix. Guess I need to get on it.
And seriously, play Vasara 1 and 2. Both are on MAME. Greatness.
I’m gonna have to try those Vasara games tommorow. They are pretty recent shooters(2000-2001), and its pretty cool that they are on MAME. Thanks for the heads-up!

Anybody play the Iridion series?
I was thinking about getting Iridion II for my DS…I heard 3D was weak.
I’ve heard both good and bad things about Iridion II, so you’re going to have to try it for yourself.
Shin’en’s title on the DS, Nanostray, is going to be really dissapointing if you’re a traditional shooter fan(I’ll get into why if you want to know). Hopefully they can get it right with Nanostray 2 later this year.
If you want handheld shooters, then the PSP is much better in that regard.

HOLY SHIT!! I haven’t played some star soldier since,…well, forever. now I gotta go pick it up again. In other news, I’m getting a little closer to smacking Einhander’s hard mode in the face. damn. that game is hard to beat, but that red Einhander WILL be mine.

I’ve been looking for Mushihime-sama for PS2 and it appears that it only made it out in japan. me? I still want it. does anyone know of a way to play Japanese games on a US PS2 unmodded, or do I have to get it modded and hope for the best? Thanks in advance.

I scored a copy of MUSHA. Man, this game is dope. Maybe I’m biased because I really like Compile SHMUPs but this game ROCKS! It’s challenging but so far from the first two levels I’ve played, it isn’t impossible. I couldn’t pass the first level on my first try but when I tried again, I didn’t die nearly as much and racked up a few bonus lives. Oh and I totally dig the anime feel to this game. Title screen/intro was dope.
