The shooter games thread returns! The Empire Of Ammo says, EVERYBODY GETS SHOT!

I’m in the Alpha test for AirMech, and there is no NDA. So, if there is anything that anyone wants to know, just ask. I made a thread for it, so your question might already be answered there.

P.S. There isn’t anything in-game that mentions Herzog Zwei. But on the Official Forums, the devs have been talking about it. Apparently, this is the game that they have been trying to make for years, but publishers always turned them down. That’s why they are doing it without a publisher.

AWWWWWW SNAP!!! :wow: I actually was a huge fan of Herzog Zwei back in the Playstation days. I’ll be looking at this one with GREAT interrest. Thanks spooty.

Since we all seem to be talking about indie stuff, has anyone else here actually made their own shooters?

One of my favorite indie devs just released this amazing looking game:

Pretty much Smash TV - Total Carnage style game.

I have made my own shooter Planetest, but it isn’t that great (Was done for a weekend dev competition). I’m in the process of remaking it alongside one of my older puzzle games with full keyboard controls and a more traditional format (less Tempest, more JSS).

That trailer got 100X more awesome once “Mom” got introduced.

Oh, and the current IndieRoyale bundle has Really Big Sky with it, which (if you haven’t played it) IS FUCKING AWESOME. http://www.indieroyale.com/

I can’t manage to get past the design phase. I got tons of paper work filed away with all these games I would love to make but I can’t program at all (Slowly learning but time) and I have no artistic talent so I dunno how to get graphics done.

Some day tho. Some day.

Hahaha looks awesome. Reminds me of Smash TV.

Once I get XBL again, anyone down to co-op on Radiant Silvergun or Bangai-O? Or can I just asume everyone is broke and plays roms?

Pretty much broke here, but I’m trying to get a XBox soon. I’ll jump in for some shooting if I do.

Try using GameMaker. It’s pretty decent for shmups. I was able to hammer out one just by spending a few hours every sunday.

You da man too d3v. Btw, I assume GameMaker is a program. if so, where can I find it, and can someone who has no programing ability use it? I hope so. if not, I’ll have to learn.

-Starhammer-

Sure.

It has a graphical, icon based scripting system so you can focus on the logic and not have to worry about syntax.

P.S. You know, I’d really love to see/hear of more folks having played my shizz.

thanks for the link d3v. I’m hoping to check this out in the near future.

Got XBLA. Have Bangai-O and will have Radiant Silvergun later in the week. GT: azn grrl xoxo

Jamestown is on OSX. Found a good 360 Mac driver online, and someone on the Steam forums provided directions on how to copy the save file from Windows. Awesome.

The final difficulty is BRUTAL hard though. It laughs at your so-called Vaunt shield.

With this year drawing to a close, 2011 has become the year that shooting game history (and arcade history) was basically plundered. The PGM games were emulated back in January, then the Taito Type X games were hacked. Shortly afterwards the Cave SH3 games were emulated, and the Atomiswave library is yours to be had as long as you’ve got enough machine.

even the newest dodonpachi? shit man i need that in my life.

If you have a 360 the European version is region free and pretty cheap if you order from this place. It is about $31 US Dollars.

Hopefully Rising Star Games does the same when they translate Akai Katana.

Yep. Everybody gets shot. Sometimes it’s a bomb in the enemy core. sometimes, It’s a shot to an innocent wallet. One thing that this says for sure: Shooters are not dead, even if everything else in their path is. See you all in the next year.

All of the SH3 games except for Daifukkatsu (hasn’t been dumped yet), and Akai Katana (MAME doesn’t emulate anything less than three years old). So with the exception of those two and Darius Burst, the PGM, SH3, Taito Type X, Naomi, and Atomiswave games are yours for the taking.
