The SFV Lounge: MUTINY!

That’s a bit of an exaggeration lol.

Definitely had stricter enemy counts compared to the classics, but there are numerous arenas with 10+ enemies that spawn at once

Nah it’s just a literal lie. Not worth the response.

2016 actually had a lot of remakes of the old Doom game when it comes to map design and the arena shooter scenes.

Enemy count was most definitely not small also playing it on max difficulty. You stop, you die. Simple as that.

Sounds great, i still want to hear a remake of the Cathedral OST though.

I don’t mean the open field I mean the Arenas.
You know the areas, where the doors get shut and you’re stuck in a small area.
I’ve never counted more than 3 (maybe 5) enemys at max in them.
There were bigger groups between the arenas, but inside of them, the number of enemys was realy low.
Haven’t played Eternal, dunno how much different it would be there, but it felt realy empty at times in these segments.
I mean you had once a situation where you had a Arena with just two enemies, granted these were both Barons.

Sadly not all oldschool shooters had a great fate recently.

  • Doom : the biggest winner with a great reboot in the series and a fun evolution of the franchise

  • Wolfenstein : i would say it’s an ok reboot, if you don’t count the horrible New Collossus and YoungBlood ( i don’t even consider this a wolfenstein game ). Old Blood and New Order were good as well as Wolfenstein 2009

  • Quake Champions : Actually a really fun game, that i think is having developing issues within. It needs to be promoted way more because the name Quake sends a quake indeed and deserves so much better.

  • Unreal Tournament : A dark fate.Once a fantastic series overshadowed by Fortnite. Sadly that fucking game is generating too much money for Epic to have any real interest to work on a new UT anymore ,so the alpha build is on hold as far as i know.
    Pre-Alpha build still active https://www.epicgames.com/unrealtournament/en-US/#splash

  • Serious Sam : It’s still going, new one is having mixed reviews, but it’s cool to see it’s still here and still trying to be it’s own thing.

A fate worse than death.

Out of curiosity, what difficulty were you playing on? I think in 2016, they added demons as picked harder settings.

I’m picturing the Gore Nest in Resource Operations on Nightmare and I’m sure there are at least 4 imps, 2-3 soldiers, and a few zombies that get spawned in there at once.

That multi-floor arena before getting access to Hayden’s office, surely had close more than 5 demons in it at any given time.

There’s an arena in a lab area (I think it’s right before getting the BFG) where you enter by dropping down from a vent in some sort of an operation room and that definitely had a ton of demons in it.

And the final arena of the game was nuts. I don’t have a clue as to how many demons were in there, but iI remember it being hard to move if you didn’t fire a BFG shot.

There are quite a few more arenas that had close to 10 (certainly more than 3) but these were the hardest ones for me so they stick out.

I did have my second playtrough on Nightmare, never finished that one, was at the second last level.
Maybe it looked to me like that, cause I’m used to getting 20 enemy spawns for picking up a +1 health.

I’d love to be able to play Quake Champions on PS4, or a new UT. My PC can’t run any new FPS games (unless it’s a classic-styled one, like perhaps, Dusk), and PS4 options are limited if you aren’t playing a COD game.

I’ve been meaning to look into Bulletstorm. I heard good things about it. I also should try Titanfall 2.

Anyways, a bit of a tangent off your post lol. I love FPS games (maybe even more than fighters) but my options are limited…

That said, I think Eternal has ruined some FPSs for me. I just went and checked clips on Doom 2016 and I don’t think I could go back. Eternal is just so much faster and intense.

So on the double barreled shotgun topic…

Well, I just went back and looked at some clips of 2016’s arenas, and you aren’t completely wrong. There does seem to be less enemies there than I was expecting (so Eternal definitely has more otherwise it wouldn’t have looked any different) but from what I saw, they seemed to mostly be in the 6-10 range from the two clips I watched.

Here’s a Slayer Gate in Eternal which are harder, bonus arenas in the campaign that are packed with enemies and usually introduce demons you haven’t fought against yet. This one is from the 2nd level.

That’s half the reason I play stick. I play hitbox, but deep down I wanna learn to get better with stick cause I like the way it looks better. And I think Korean Sticks look better than Japanese sticks so I wanna learn on a k stick lol.

Thinking about playing Fire Emblem Three Houses.

Slightly concerned about getting in an FE timesink again tho.

Edit: Never mind, I read that Gauntlets are a legit weapon in this game.

Gonna pull up to Paladins like Balrog and kill their horses on one punch.

Actually it would be a motivation for me to get back into drawing myself.

If I put the pen down for good I promise you’ll be the first commission :ok_hand:t4:

While I have yall, are sticks really loud, and if so is there a way to make them quiet. I still remember my early SF4 days and you could hear guys mashing over the mic

Looks tasty.

But I gotta play trough Serious Sam 4 on Serious and Mental next.
Wonder if the enemys are again mostly invisible on Mental this time.
