Ugh. Serious Sam 4 looked utterly abysmal to me.

SS 2 is a different beast.
Idk what the devs were smoking but they made one weird ass game but fun as hell.

In regards to the SSG, I was talking about classic Doom 1 and 2. Not 2016 and Eternal.
Yeah, I agree with your 2016 and Eternal sentiments. 2016 is a lot more realistic and definitely more “metal” as a result. Eternal is more arcadey and colourful, but I do feel it suits Eternal’s gameplay more. Also, Eternal doesn’t have many secrets you really have to veer off-path to find, which I don’t think some people appreciate, but I personally prefer it as I think it keeps the action up.

Does Doom Eternal have Secrets that yeet 100 explodiong enemies at you or is it still like 2016, where you can have only 3 enemys in the arena?

If you get the .wad files, there are all kinds of different ways to run it. I found GzDoom looked the best, while giving you the settings to setup a mostly traditional experience (no vertical aiming, jumping, etc). It’s also good for playing people’s custom wads that intend for vertical aiming and jumping.

That’s exactly how I’ll be running it. I also intend to play Brutal DOOM, but I don’t think I’ll end up liking that.

I think there can be slightly more enemies in an arena than 2016 (some of Eternal’s slayer gate challenges are absolutely nuts), but it’s nothing like the classic games when you can have one room and two hundred revenants. Tbh, I think that’d be impossible with 3D models. Eternal’s engine seems really optimized though and they push it pretty hard.

Goddammit @Cipher , i can’t get Sam’s voice taunting the Kleers out of my mind now.

You’re a Millia main, cause I-No won’t make it into the game.
At least not into the base roster.
Hey Dayaan, if you want to experience the classics the traditional way, know that you can use your mouse for horizontal aiming (the vertical aiming also takes care of itself if they’re not like way above or below you).
Some people have a misconception that the classic games were keyboard only, but they weren’t. It’s just that a lot of people at the time played it that way because like every other PC game back then was keyboard only.

Oh yeah I’m aware. I’ve been binge watching hours and hours of DOOM stuff over the past few days; I’m certifiably obsessed with the series now. You’re the first one that even mentioned using a mouse though. I had planned for it, but I thought I was some weirdo for doing so.

I played 2016 and 1+2
And half of 3.
Thing is, Serious Sam throws entire armys at you to deal with.
Doom2016 had like 3 enemys max per Arena if there weren’t already some before you enterd it.
Also @Skort
The mad people at CroTeam actually did it, the final Level in Serious Sam 4 has a Remix of it. It being the last level of The second Encounter, you know that music that played as you were alone vs 1000 on the open field.
Maybe you recognice it, I timestamped it for ya.
There are quiet some good remixes in that game, music is great once again.
