I didn’t know they brought back a hyper machine there. If it’s the same one they had before, I think that’s really the speed of the game. I think someone (you?) said that the poly machine before was slow, but I think that’s the speed. It’s definitely not CE. I will have to see for myself come monday.
If you want to play at James Games sometime just let me know. I work in the area until 5 on sundays, and i’ll be down to go on some fridays since there’s some 3s marvel action too.
I wasn’t there today at Cal Poly. I was in six flags at the whole day.
Yeah see, that’s why I thought it was 7-3. You can outplay sagat all you want since sim has the tools to do so, however eat an uppercut on your limb and all your work goes to waste.
Yeah, that was me. The thing is, it seems slower than any of the HF vids that I see. If you get a chance to check it out, I’d be interested to hear what you think about the speed.
That’d be fun. Unfortunately, I live out by UCLA. I think that’s a really far drive for me, especially with traffic. Every once in a while I have to go out to Pasadena for work. So, maybe someday we can hook that up :wgrin:
It sure does! But to be fair, I’ve mostly been playing ST recently and that caused me to be too careless with my limbs. I still think it’s 6-4 in HF, but you have to play really careful. I should have only thrown out pokes in retaliation instead of offensively. If you’re careful and grind him down slowly, I think Sim still has the advantage. Just not by much.
SweetJV and EvilJ, any possibility of you guys geting some video from these HF arcade locations? Great that there are HF machines again in Cali
btw, EvilJ, Ur playing online now? Shout me:)
*Ok some big news. The best HF Blanka player since Jeff Schaefer, yesterday made the transition from XBL to nFBA :woot:
Massive thanks to ‘xsonic’ for all the help with routers, ports and such.
First few nFBA matches:

Whatsmore, Decoy has a new Blanka YouTube vid in the works, watch this space…
:woot: :woot: :woot:
Very nice matches. I thought you had the first match.
I wanted to record matches at these locations but first I have to find players. Me and Sweet are kind of far from each other. And again, I don’t have equipment (I wasn’t lying about that)
As far as online, naw still haven’t gotten on, one reason is my korean stick is terrible on pc for some reason and my ps3 controller worked before but I don’t like playing sf on pad. If you have the time to pm me step by step instructions ( I know it’s on the first page but I don’t know where the rom is either), I might get online I used to play a lot on keyboard-cps chains are impossible on kb though.
Oh, again apologies for the old misunderstanding you’re hella good.
I was at the Cal Poly tourney. I own a HF board and honestly, the speed felt the same for me. I know it runs way faster on emulation so that’s probably it. Regardless, good shit to everyone who came out and played. I was kinda sad that half of the turnout was from Vegas but it’s all good. How often can we have a HF tournament in an arcade anymore?
It was good to meet you, SweetJohnnyV. Give us a call again if you head out to Vegas anytime soon. Are you planning on coming to Evo? I’ll be sure to bring the HF and ST boards with me.
Im glad you brought up the nFBA instructions in first post. I just realised I hadn’t given instructions on how to Use the Oaki recorder. I’ve rectified this now, so everyone go take a look and start recording!
Having now played several of you, Im real eager to see recordings from matches against eachother.
#srkkaillera HF player handles list has also been updated in the first post.
Hi welcome to the thread Bringing the board to Evo would be fantastic idea! Do you by chance own a camcorder too?
Yeah, I’m sure you’re right. 99% of my HF playing over the last few years has been on an Ultracade machine and XBL. I was just surprised at how alien it felt.
Yeah, I was kind of bummed about the low turn out too. I was surprised that Watson, Norm(Footsy Bebop), and OG Ken didn’t show up. It was cool that we did it round-robin style though. It was fun to get to play everyone.
Yeah, it was really cool meeting you guys! I’m glad you came out. And it sucked that I had to leave so soon to bring my friend back home. I would’ve liked to play some more casuals against you guys.
I’ll definitely give you guys a shout next time I’m in Vegas. And yeah, I’m planning on going to Evo. That’s probably the next time I’ll be down there. If you could bring your HF/ST boards, that’d be awesome! There was some talk of setting up a HF side tourney last year, but nothing ever happened. If there’s an arcade board though, I bet it’d be pretty easy to get a lot of OG folks to play. That’d be a lot fun!
PS: Crayfish, I don’t have a camcorder either. But if we do end up doing something at Evo, I’m sure someone will have one :wgrin:
I just tested the machine at cal poly, it feels like normal speed to me. Maybe slightly slower but I really think that’s the HF speed. Slower than turbo 2 on Super.
It’s not as slow as SSF, and not as slow as CE which is pretty much like WW.
controls are good on the cabinet, I wish people would play since I go to school there.
I’m not planning on running any tournaments at Evo but my cab and games will be there running casual and whatnot all weekend. If I end up running any tournaments or events, it would be something spur of the moment. And I usually bring a camera to Evo so I’ll probably just set it up in front of the cab and tape whatever is going on.
Hey Crayfish! Thanks for the props but I’m not so sure about the best Blanka since Jeff LOL. There are many Blanka beasts out there.
Anyway, thanks to you and xsonic for helping me get on. It was a blast to play you. I definately need to upgrade my PC. Playing with a tiny little window beacuse my PC can’t handle video very well was a bit tough on the eyes lol.
I look forward to playing some more later this week.
BTW, the new Blanka vid is 90% done. I decided to add a few things to better explain some concepts. There are many small things that make a HUGE difference in the outcome of a fight. Hopefully, they ca help improve someones game.
I plan to wrap it up in the next day or so. Look for a post here.
Pardon me if this has already been discussed/mentioned, but the XBLA version of Hyper Fighting was ported from the CCC Vol. 1/Capcom Generations Vol. 5 version of “Hyper Fighting”, right? What exactly was “off” with these series of ports?
Wow that would be great Bernie. With Ur cab, camcorder and the ready and willing people here, sure something great could come of this :lovin:
Thats two more things to look forward to Catcha on nFBa sn m8. Btw, add me as a friend on You Tube.
Go look in the first post about the emulation speed issue. This applies to all CC versions. The XBL version is the only version to some close to the origonal correct speed. Only nFBA emulates the speed properly…
FIGHTING BRIAN FELDSTEIN
We HyperFighting players need to get online and play eachother to improve, because we lag faaar behind the standard of CE and ST players… Now with correct speed emu, nFBA netplay and everything happening in the thread, I think more people will crossover from CE and XBL HF.
The last set of matches I played on nFBA was against a recent convert, and was by far the toughest I yet played.
Guile vs E.Honda x2(vs Brian Feldstein)

Grueling Battle this one…
Blanka vs Ken x2(vs Brian Feldstein)

Aaarrgghh!!
Vega vs Ken(vs Brian Feldstein)

This is how the top level CE guys play Vega, watch and learn how to throw like a demon!!:badboy:
I want a lot more whiff/blocked low jab/strong and standing kicks into slaps and a lot more fierce grab shenanigans on punishment with Honda, Crayfish, but great games, good to watch.
Er, Crayfish its fine if you want to post up matches, but like, Ive won most of the guile vs honda fights, but yet you seem to win in all the matches you post on youtube
Like when I lost those two in a row I joked to myself that those would be the ones you would post, and you did…
Plenty of Fierce grab shenanigans on the other matches. Dont really get what you mean by standing kicks into slaps? Cancelling whiff crouching kicks into HHS is useful in ST where you have the dash hands, but I don’t get the HF use, please explain to me the tacts.
Brian Im sorry if it comes accross that way to you. I freely admitted in the post your on a higher level than I and have no problem saying you’ve won at least 75% of the matches weve played, but I think thats an unfair critisism overall. If you count the win loss ratio on my YouTube vids, you’ll find more than 2/3 are losses to me. As far as the Honda - Guile match goes, in matches like this which are certainly in one characters favour (in this case Guile) I want to show how the fight is winnable against a good opponent (and Urs is one of the only good Guiles online). So I post a dissproportunate amount of wins, this is the same for a number of the other matchups I’ve posted like alot of my Dhalsim games. If I knew matchups like say, M.Bison vs Ryu really well, I post the wins from that too, even tho the majority would obviously be losses against a good Ryu. The wins 've posted, I hope, have educational value. The only ‘beatdowns’ I posted have been against me, like the Vega match of yours above, and the CPS1 combo victories that people seem to enjoy (but which arent probably the best matches from a set). I can’t beleive that people would think the matches I’ve posted are to pump my own ego. I’m gonna take a break from posting matches I think. The main reason was to encourage others to post thiers, but no one has even posted a single match, or even sent me a single nFBA .krec replay file which I’ve given full instructions on how to record and offered to video encode… and judging from the reaction on YouTube and here, they’re upsetting more people than they’re helping.
Not at all, this is whats made nFBA such an event. The last set of matches I played against Brian discussed above were from England to EC USA, and they were perfect. Most of the matches I’ve played are against WC USA players! If you played me, or EC USA people it’d be very good. See the first post on how to get set-up. If you need anymore help PM me.
