Shit. All RB or Q has to do is come to St. James on any given day between 5:00 and 8:00 PM and he could get plenty of footage.
Granted, it would be limited to mostly Ken, Ryu, maybe the occasional Sagat, and if Daryl*** is there you could see some Dhalsim, Vega, or possibly Chun-li and he felt like dicking around, but it would mostly be Ryu/Ken. Believe it or not, Guile gets wasted here. I’m inclined to believe it’s because our Guile’s aren’t that good, but I’ve seen the FIERCENESS of our Ryu-Kens, and I’m convinced that Ken-Guile is 5-5, and Ryu-Guile is 6-4.
*** A note on Daryl: This guy has world class potential if he could play elsewhere and didn’t have to face our losers. He’s an exceptional player in the old school vein, meaning his knowledge and experience are top class (at least in HF); he doesn’t beat you with fancy combos, he straight up owns you and keeps you where he wants you, and he fights to the very last pixel.
BUt his adaptability is Choi-like: A couple months back we were playing HSF, and I had been beasting with CE Bison (I only play Bison in HF, and while I can hold my own against anyone who is not Gief, I lose a lot just based on character power, or lack of it, so CE Bison gives me a chance for revenge when I don’t feel like thinking to win). I can beat Daryl in HSF because, well, it’s CE Bison. PLus, he’s not as familiar with HSF and ST as he is with HF. Anyway, he picks CE Vega. The first match, I killed him. I explained to him that Bison’s Scissors Kick is his most dangerous weapon, and if it makes contact, you’re screwed since he can continue punishing you afterwards if you don’t have invincible reversal. So what does Daryl do? The very next round he takes my primary weapon away from me! He stays just out of range so that my Scissors Kick would whiff and he jabs me in retaliation. He basically stays away from me the entire match, counters my jump-ins with s.LP, keeps me out with c.LPs, and sneaks in the occasional throw somehow. BUt mainly, he manages to play without letting me connect with a Scissors Kick once, and I’m astonished he’s able to do that for four rounds (I lost twice).
Now I guess you could say my Bison sucks, but I’ve been playing the guy for 17 years, so I think I at least know how to make contact with a Scissors Kick, so Daryl managing to change his gameplan to take away my primary weapon within one round is nothing short of amazing.
