The SF2 Hyper Fighting Thread

Yeah I changed up a lot of Blanka’s matchups. I’ve been playing this game on Live lately, and as crappy as Live is, it’s made me realize that I actually didn’t remember the game as well as I’d thought I did, so I’ve reevaluated a bunch of stuff. I don’t have the chart on this comp, but I’ll upload it again sometime soon.

I agree its probably the most lopsided matchup in hyper fighting. I do like playing blankas players though…

Hadoken!

 FAGUUUUUCAN…

TATSUMAKILLYOURSELF.

No, that would be Zangief vs. Bison. Zangief wins that 10-0. Yes, 10-0. There is literally nothing Bison can do in that fight but die. God’s Dictator can’t beat a Gief who’s awake.

The second worst match would be Blanka vs. Claw. That would be 9-1 at worst in Blanka’s favour.

Speaking of Blanka, what’s this about him losing to Boxer? I thought all Blanka had to do to beat Boxer was knock him down once, then do repeat vertical balls over him? Or is it one of those “if Boxer doesn’t get knocked down he wins” situation?

It’s not that bad. Get a lead, stall and runaway for 99 seconds.

Boxer v Gief is definitely one of the worst matchups, but it’s not 10-0. Boxer can try to keep Gief out with standing jab, crouching fierce, or kick upper for antiair and crouching roundhouse and the occasional kick upper on the ground. It doesn’t work most of the time, but it works sometimes. I’d call it like 8-2 for Gief.

Zangief vs. Bison is more 7-3. I’d put the Blanka vs. Claw at 8-2. Also, Balrog can c. fierce the vertical ball. IMO the match is 6-4, in Blanka’s favor.

Only at very specific ranges, and it’s not a reliable option at all. That said, Boxer wins vs Blanka 6-4

I played the match-up a couple times and c. fierce didn’t work as well as I remembered. I don’t see how 'Rog has the advantage when Blanka has the vertical ball trap-- there’s nothing Balrog can do. Also, I was talking to Watson earlier and apparently Blanka can tick throw Balrog all day because of the longer throw range.

Gief vs Bison is a bad matchup but Bison is a lot better online then he is offline.

Blanka online is a top tier…Blanka has crazy priorities & Blanka’s strong punch beats out all Giefs moves…

Gief vs Honda is also very bad matchup online…

What you say is true, but Blanka’s horizontal ball is pretty worthless against Boxer, even the whiff jab and strong balls are easily dealt with. Boxer controls the ground game, and Blanka controls the air.

I think this matchup is much harder online for Boxer, but I still believe he has the advantage.

Where the heck are all the Tomo vids that are suppose to be up anyways?

CPU Tips

I’m playing on hardest mode. And I keep dying.

Can someone tell me the cheapest tactics to use to beat the CPU.

I’m on Bison now, it took over 200 battles to get there =/ 2million points… coz i kept dying.

I can do combos but they don’t seem to work on this high CPU setting, as they instantly throw you.

Cheapest/best tactics appreciated, thanks!

Why did Capcom tone Bison down in Hyper Fighting…He is the best in CE

Search for vids on youtube. Lots of people there are proud of perfect cpu victories and speed runs.

You just answered your own question.

You aren’t comboing at all then.

Since tactics are character specific, it’d be best to know who you’re using.

But, in general, projectile/anti-air traps have worked well against every CPU Bison I’ve ever played…even on the highest difficulty. Dictator has a floaty jump and two of his special moves are cut off by projectiles. Use that to your advantage. If he instantly Head Stomps over your projectile and you get hit, shrug it off and hit him out of the air (preferably with a special move) or combo/throw him when he lands. Knock him down and you have yet another advantage because he doesn’t have an invincible instantly-hitting reversal special move. Go for the crossup jumping attack every time. If he gets close enough to kick you, jumping straight up can get you either a free hit/combo on him or his own jumping straight up roundhouse in your grill. It’s 50/50. Hopefully, you’re jumping right before he kicks. Trying to throw a projectile at that range will usually get you kicked. If he comes at you with the Psycho Crusher or the Scissor Kick, either rapid-fire jab him out of it, anti-air special him, or block and throw (the least reliable method because he usually throws you first…he’s the CPU…hello).

Whatever you do…don’t jump at all unless you need to…or else you’ll eat a Psycho Crusher or jumping roundhouse.

More specific help can be given if you tell us who you’re using (because some characters’ moves easily outprioritize his), but if you’re looking for a relatively easy win, it’s definitely all about that FB/DP trap.

I don’t know if these were posted already but here are some casuals held at my house:
