The SF2 Hyper Fighting Thread

M8 that was AWSOME!! Just WoW. I called myself a HF Blanka player, no more, thats some whole other s***. That high/low ‘pressure string’ you put together at the end against the Dictator player was the most radical thing I’ve seen done with pre-ST SF2 in years, that looked like Magneto or something. Timing the headbut 2nd hit as a meaty & jumpup fwd MK to snuff jump escape, switch to sweep etc… beautiful.

It’d be amazing to see some of your matches. Is there anyone else at your level on X360 online? Are Mike Watson or any of the other thread contributers online yet?

All the other blanka players on live pretty much copy whatever decoy does, but not with as much finesse. As far as player skill goes, there are actually a lot of really good players on live, i’d say the majority of them are actually from the UK.

Hey man, thanks for the kind words.:wgrin: I think that even with such an old game, we can always find new tactics and techniques. It never ceases to amaze me how a players find their own unique way to use their respective characters.

There are a few nice players on XBL but it’s really hard to gauge online players ability to some of the offline greats. I’ve played Cole and Shirts online in AE and the matches were much more competitive than I expected. I’m sure it just plain had to do with them not totally adjusting to controls and some lag.

Either way, I’d say that there are probably a handful of players that are very tough competitors on HF for the 360. I’ll see if I can dig up some matches and post some links.

In the meantime, here is a match I had not too long ago with a player called RoyalPhlush. Granted we were kidding around but it was still a decent fight.

Wow, Decoy - you have got some skills there. I wish there were more OGs like you in my area.

those tactics are pretty insane man good shit. You must be really good at charging because I see a lot of standing tactics into up ball, so you have to be able to charge immediately after a standing attack but without pushing down (otherwise you’d get a crouching attack).

I can beat blanka but I still lose to scrubby ones online because of lag. They always drop in rank matches when they lose too. I’d probably get perfected a lot against that blanka.

crayfish: glad you posted that hf vid of watson vs ken player. I didn’t know they recorded that.

If you listen after that 2nd round, you hear a guy saying that was beautiful match lol that was me.

Nice stuff, my man. Great choice of music as well.

Hmm, caliagent, I wonder who those UK players are? We had a pretty high standard in HF here. Wld b cool to imagine some of these peeps r faces from the past who have missed out on the whole emu>SRK>killera thing and hve resurfaced via console…

Thanks Decoy, watched a few of Ur matches. Just fantastic to see this level of HF play after soo many years, really wonderful:) r any of U top HF guys going to Evo? wld b amazing if there was enuff of U guys to have some casuals there. I remember last year someone was going to bring an HF board before he was unable to make it (the guy who brings his own homemade cab, name?). I know Mike Watson is generaly there.

Ur a true conniosseur evilj

This is like Christmas+birthday all at once, then some more Christmas! Whn I saw Ur post I thought, ya yah, wonder if he knows the crossover HP splash, s.MP, s.LK, c.HK one etc… but then b4 my very eyes:
s.MP, junpup fw HK!?
c.LP, StomachCrunch!!???
CPS1chainlike c.LK, s.far HP???
Jus like with Decoy’s Blanka, so much of this is completely new to me. Mindblowing stuff. Think my fave has to be the 1st one against Guile:
crossover HP splash, c.LP (is that x2 or x3, vid jumpy?), c.LK, s.far HP!! Didn’t even think that was possible, looks like a CPS1 chain but thought only rapidfire Light attacks could be used? Also comboing c.LP into the Stomach Crunch!! if that could be done off c.LK could be very usefull. Like jump-in without an air attack (to fool oppnt into blocking high) land straight into c.LK, Stomach Crunch for dizzy.
U got any match vids of Ur Gief in action too m8? HF was one of the few times Gief really got some attention coss he had a pretty nice matchup with HF no.1 Ryu, Turbo Lariating thru sweeps and this was before knockdown red FB’s too;)

If you or Decoy cld post up high quality origonals of Ur instructional vids it’d be great. Theyr the best resource out there for this game and deserve so much more than a grainy Utube release…

thanks again everyone, Crayfish.

I wish there were more OGs in my COUNTRY.

Hey, I just started playing HF online and I love it. I haven’t had much SF2 comp seeing as it’s such an outdated game, but after playing it online it’s a whole new world, I love it.

I have a few questions though. Does anyone have the ‘Hyper Fighting Dizzy System, Charr guides & strategies’ in a properly formatted version? The first link to it doesn’t work and the Megaupload one has a all the text jumbled up. Is there a way to view this properly?

Also, can anyone please reupload the “CAPCOM SF2 HYPERFIGHTING TOUNAMENT
August 19TH 1993 - Tokyo” and “Acho HyperFightng tourny July03” videos? I’d love to be able to watch them.

Does anyone have any good media from the Tomo Ohira thread? I have the teaching video from him, but I heard there’s some good media in the old thread.

And lastly, does anyone know when the VF5 stick is coming out? It looks like it’ll be exactly the same as the DOA4 one with VF5 graphics. I’ve been trying to get a Hori stick for XBL but the prices are too high for me on eBay.

Thanks in advance, sorry if I’m asking a bit too much, hah.

^has the Hyper Fighting A-Cho tourney

Hugely exciting things happening with emu online play. Not only have I just found out that Final Burn Alpha FINALY addresses the HF speed emulation issues as covered here:
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=3131907&postcount=7
but that a P2P kaillera add on is available to run with emu’s meaning amazing lag free onloine matches, like they’ve had on zsnes for years.

I just tried it out with a friend and IT WORKS!!!

You can get FBA here:
http://fba.emuunlim.com/?page_id=4
you want the 'Unicode binary ’ (1st link)

And the P2P add-on here:
http://kaillera.movsq.net/
Fantastic site, gives you Ur i.p and Ping ratings as well as very easy setup instructions.

OK WHO WANTS SOME!!! PM ME!!!

*btw, the fantasticaly exciting GGPO project http://forums.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=236
is also going to use FBA!! Hyper Fighting is going to finaly get to properly compete online, so it can take its rightful place as greatest oldschool SF2 version once and for all!!!

Is there anyway to get screen shots of the hit boxes for this game?

I’d be more than willing to gather them all together, if possible.

In Sagat Vs Honda match,
If Honda just sit and d/b(turtle), what Sagat need to do is jump at max range(the range that Sagat can just touch Honda with air HK),
Case 1
Honda do early jab headbutt, air HK can hit Honda.
Case 2
Honda do late jab headbutt, Sagat should not use air HK, just empty jump and land for uppercut.
Case 3
If Honda dont do anything(keep blocking),just empty jump and land for jab uppercut to give block damage to Honda, Honda cannot punish back Sagat after blocking(even use fierce headbutt).

There’s no need for Sagat to do any tigershot in Vs turtle Honda matchup,
I only do tiger shot when I have knock down Honda for block damage.

There’s a solution for Vega to handle Blanka’s HK vertical ball trap,

There are two cases:
Case I:vertical ball falls a little bit in front of Vega

Solution for Case I:well timed mp can hit the ball.

Case II:vertical ball falls directly over Vega and standing mp cannot hit the ball

Solution for Case II:Vega should slide immediately when the ball begins to rise(Vega must react very very fast, this does not work if Vega player press down+hk too late), Vega will escape the ball attack and recover faster than Blanka(due to the early input, Blanka should still in air when vega recover), Vega can then hit back Blanka …

I’m pretty sure Honda can respond with a regular attack after a blocked jab uppercut.

I’m pretty sure honda can anti air with something else. That or just fierce headbutt under him and avoid the whole situation.

In the jump-in scenario, the best response is really jumping strong if Sagat’s goal is a deep jump-in, because of how tricky his air jump kicks get. You have to train yourself to go ahead and do it even if it seems unsafe; if you get kicked out of the air, you flagged yourself and he just mashed a kick button to counter.

Standing fierce works well too but might trade.

I wish there were more OGs in my CONTINENT.:sad:

Check this out:
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=4078558&postcount=3261

If the blocked jab uppercut is at its “maximum range”(not a deep uppercut, just touch Honda slightly), Honda cannot respond with any attack because Sagat will be half-screen away after blocking.
It’s smilar to the Ken Jab dragon punch, opponent cannot react anything after blocking a “safe” jab dragon punch.

I’ve tested it with my friend, and find that you are correct, Honda can do early fierce headbutt under Sagat to avoid the whole situation.

Sagat can only do ground games against turtle Honda,
but this is the same for Honda, too(Honda cannot jump to Sagat).
