The Rival Schools/Justice Gakuen/Project Justice storyline thread!

In all stories/fanfics/comics, I read Akira always beat Batsu.

Okay, really havnt made any wordy posts in quite awhile.

One of the RS games was officialy stated as taking place in 1999, dont remember if it was RS1 or PJ though.

Its supposed to take place after SF3: Third Strike, timeline wise.

Sakura was purposely removed from the series given the official statement of its timeline, ie if they remade RS1 Sakura would not be in it.

But wasnt Hinita inspired by Sakura? Its kinda hard to get around that one isnt it?

It can easily be fixed and Hinita’s insperation can still come from Sakura. Sakura will more than likely become a Gym/PE teacher (given how much Capcom like Sakura Ganbaru) and Sakura could very well be the PE teacher at Taiyo, and thats where Hinita learned everything from and knows Sakura from, etc, etc. A very easy & practical retroactive change.

Another thing is that in the RS timeline Ken has a book out that he wrote, which Hinita loves, and its where she learned how to aply the flames to her hurricane kick, but obviously this means RS has to take place after or around the time of SF3: Third Strike, a time in which has become more mature and actually able to write a book, unlike his SFA self.

From another forum I posted on

do you remember when linchyo actually learned saikyo-ryu

Yeah, and she probaly learned it from Dan, and timeline wise it would make perfect sense given that Dan may/could of actually become successful by that point with his dojo (which Sakura could be an asistant instructor at, as well as being a PE teacher, so that she could make more money for herself)

Its acutally quite easy to tie SF and RS together now that Sakura was taken out, ie we can say “this, this, and this” (like the above) and still have it fit within the RS canon.

yeah smart move for PJ …

While it’s storyline canon that Iincho learned Saikyo-ryuu, outside of a wind-up Dragon Punch, she doesn’t have any “Saikyo” moves in the game.

Her style looks more like traditional Shotokan karate, actually.

If she was truly a student of Dan, you’d think she’d have more of a Muay Thai influence to her moves. As well as an attempt at the Dankuukyaku. (However weak the Gadou Ken may be, it probably takes a lot of training to get even that.)

All things considered though, I’d just love to see Iincho sporting a pink gi in RS… ummm… 4?

RS3…Project Justice is RS2, the game some people mistake for 2 is actually RS Evolution 2, a sequel to the Evolution mode form the PS version of RS1.

And Iincyo isn’t really a student of Dan, she just took a correspondence course for Saikyo-ryuu (a mail-in course, basically).

true , well … linchyo’s f’hk …

Hmmm… From reading earlier parts of this thread, there seems to be some conflicting bits on the canonic connections of RS and SF. One one hand, we have Hinata with a book written by Ken; on the other, we have Edge being an Alex user in 3rd Strike. Something doesn’t add up there. Anyone care to shed some light on that?

Also, is there a Rival Schools plot FAQ somewhere that this storyline scrub can peruse through? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think both of those SF references are “Easter Eggs” for fans to discover.

And even though the SF and RS worlds coexist, who’s to say that they didn’t make an SF game in that universe? I mean, Ken Masters is a somewhat famous fighter. Lots of famous people have videogames made based on them.

Tiger Woods
Michael Jordan

Heck, Shaq even had a fighting game… Umm… forget I said that…

Yes, and thats where she learned to apply the flame to her hurricane kick, so that the book has to be canon if the move is.

Im guessing you’re refering to the RS gang playing SF3, which is entirely possible.

SF3 takes place in 1998, RS1 takes place in 1999, so its entirely possible that a video game based on the third SF tournament was made, although its more likely that they just have made SF games, and the Alex and SF3 refrence was an easter egg.

I wish, even if it was done by Snowstorm I wouldnt care, cause of least most of it would be accurate, although she dosnt know much outside the games, so I doubt she’d know that the easter eggs could actually exist within in the game(s) and/or that Sakura was officialy removed, so that the two series (SF & RS) could actually co-exist, then again if she wrote it, then people like Tiamat, Saiki, and anyone else could just copy the whole thing, then add and change what needs to be added or changed.

The problem with this (as well as Hinata learning from that book by Ken, and heck, ANY reference to Street Fighter, really) is that this all takes place and is mentioned in RS Evolution 1, and Sakura was in the game and series as late as Evolution 2 (in fact, she even had a bigger role in Evolution 2, whereas she was completely missing from Evolution 1). So any decisions on Capcom’s part to remove Sakura (and thus, most likely, to change the date RS takes place in) would happen after RS1 and after all these references to Street Fighter, which means that they probably would be removed along with it, although it also means that while they existed, they made no sense, since they existed long before Capcom decided to remove Sakura, and Capcom apparently even gave Sakura a BIGGER role after those “facts” existed. Course, after reading some translations of the PJ board game from an old (and sadly incomplete) faq at gamefaqs and learning that Evo 2 says that Hinata heard that Sakura went off with Ruby Heart to participate in a tournament, I’m starting to lean towards the opinion that ANYTHING in the Evolution disks should be considered as easter eggs and nothing more, including the book and any relations to Street Fighter and the SF arcade games (by the way, Hayato is a big Akuma fan in the games and likes playing as Akuma), and that the entire evolution side disks (as well as the board game from PJ) are just a big fanservicey fanfic (complete with your own self-insert character who gets all the wimmenz!) which basically means that the RS world should have nothing to do with Street Fighter at all.

Tiamat: Why would Capcom remove the SF references along with Sakura? I mean they could remove Sakura from RS canon, but choose not to remove the SF references.

I would be willing to do an RS storyline FAQ… I’ve got more than enough free time, but god knows if have the drive to do it. And why do I have this feeling that Capcom is the DC Comics of the video game world?

As far as I can tell, the board game in PJ doesn’t have any SF references, whatsoever. Although admittingly, you’re right that there isn’t any specific reason they’d remove most of the SF references. Although it’s true that all the bigger contradictory SF reference stuff like the Street Fighter arcade was NOT in Evolution 2, which is where Sakura made her “has a bigger role in the evolution storyline” debut.

…oh yea, that’s right, now I remember why it wouldn’t fit. I think the whole “SF references fit in due to Capcom moving RS to the future” thing is kinda bunk because all the SF references occurred BEFORE Capcom moved RS to the future, since all the references happened before Capcom removed Sakura, they thus also must have happened before Capcom moved RS’s timeline to the future. And if RS’s timeline wasn’t in the future at the time, the SF arcade would not be able to make sense in the way TAS said it could if RS’s timeline were moved to the future, mainly because RS’s timeline was NOT moved to the future yet. Of course, this also means that in regards to Street Fighter and Rival Schools, Capcom has just been EXTREMELY wishy-washy in general (first, there’s a chance that SF isn’t connected to it since it has the contradictory Street Fighter arcade, then they remove that and give Sakura a bigger role implying that it IS connected to it, then they remove all references to SF once again including Sakura this time around and supposedly, according to TAS, moved it to the future. Honestly, the only reasons I can come up with for this (and the Sakura Ruby Heart thing) are that either the people producing RS never contacted the people in charge of Street Fighter continuity and made all these connections without permission then couldn’t make up their mind, or that the Rival Schools Evolution dating simulation storylines are not canon and are more just fanservice, or that Capcom just doesn’t know what the hell it’s doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were the latter, considering that Udoneko recently clarified that whole “SFAlpha contradicting continuity” statement Capcom gave him to really mean that Capcom apparently has no idea what’s going on with the Street Fighter storyline continuity, even.

but Hinata learned the fiery hurricane kick from Ken.

finaly an active rival schools thread!
