Little bit more speculation from that Cody v Chun vid.
C.LK x 2 = 60 (60) 100%
EX Legs = 128 (160) 80% (Did 4 hits on Cody, that’s some good news)
Kikosho = 200 (285) 70% (17 hits)
All up 23 hits and 388 damage. That’s just going off previous calculations.
What’s more interesting though is that Kikosho did 17 hits and not 16hits in the French combo video.
Difference was in the Cody/Chun vid, there was only one instance of EX Legs and in the French there was 2 sets of EX Legs. Out of complete random speculation, juggling once only does 17 hits and juggle any more times after that minus one hit from Kikosho.
But this could be completely wrong and may depend on opponents size and hitbox. Seems like Kikosho has some crazy properties.
Nothing special but funny as how everyone on Youtube was crying about Blanka being on there for the past few vids, then you hear who’s playing blanka at 6:12 (I think you know who he is) On 6:12
The only thing big to note was that freakin Kikosho at 8:22 after EX Legs just as Mr.Wizard described about it. Delicious.
And is it me or does Kikokens do more damage, blanka was falling on them like crazy and it was doing exceptable amount of damage and a decent chip on block. Fairly decent Intermediate Chun Player at least.
Hakan vs Chun Li Starts at 3:40
Hakan is J Wong in this vid and Juri in the beguinning.
This is interesting because we get to see Justin Wong play with Hakan for what seems to be his first time based on the conversation with the other person… He actually thinks Hakan is bad match up for Chun Li but this is just his first impression. Also Oil Up goes through fireballs?
Not sure about the best buff, but she got for sure a really big nerf. I still have a hard time picturing it in my head, 30 pt less on her ex legs and even 40 point when it is 4 hits. Wow that pretty big. Her bnb combo will now do like 156 pts of damage, as much as a dp lol. With this kind of shitty damage from her bnbs, ultra 1 is at the risk of becoming completely useless since it is more usefull as a threat which allow you to get close enough to play footsies and hit your bnb. Now she will have to rely too much on her ultra 2 to deal decent damage. I guess she will still be mid, but not higher.
Does 72 damage on block. 3 per hit and 15 on final.
Still can’t tell if they increase the range on C.MK in that video. Looks the same though.
Once again some weird juggle properties on Kikosho. Hit 18 times on Elf in both the S.MK(1-hit), EX Legs(3) and the command combo.
Some good news though. With all these nerf’s to normal damage. Chun’s C.MK, DF.HK and CS.MK have the same damage.
EX SBK looks like exactly the same damage. If you look at the Chun vs Chun video, third round, Chun gets hit by a ground EX SBK. If you look at where the health drops to in Super and compare to vanilla they line up. So still 30 per hit. If anything it looks like less from earlier reports, maybe because people don’t know that EX SBK does 4 hits ground to ground and 5 hits as an anti-air.
This would also mean Chun still has 900 health.
EX Legs damage nerf hurts a lot though.
In that Justin Hakan vid, Chun does 4 hits on EX. Little bonus there.
no, the guy said "so justin 0 out of 10 what do you think of hakan?"
justin: 0
guy: what its a 0- 10 matchup for chun?
justin: no, i just think hes (hakan is ) really bad.
meaning that justin atm thinks that hakan is horrible.
From what I’ve gathered talking and hearing about J.Wong over the years he was never really a fan of gimmicky character types. He’s just looking at the fundamentals of a character and going off how he thinks it will apply in battle. I mean yeah sure it was easier to see that Rufus was going to be good in SFIV than it probably is to see that Hakan will be in Super but I think it’s too early to write off a character has a shit ton of options. People wrote off Viper early and she shot up to top tier in an early Japanese tier list before going back to being a solid mid tier that can basically kill you in 2 combos (unless you pick Gief or Gat or any character that is difficult for her to jump in on).
From what I remember hearing Justin said Viper wasn’t very good when the game was in its early arcade stages. Though I’m sure he doesn’t feel that way anymore. I mean it’s obvious that Viper has plenty of issues keeping her out of top tier contention but her raw damage/stun output and the fact that she can hit you from anywhere on the screen makes forces you to always worry about her no matter where you are on the screen. She has really good space control despite having sub par footsies.
Yea she’s another one who got some good tools. Her U2’s usefulness/worthlessness will be pretty interesting to see once people start to get to understand it.
The most important thing to remember when listening to Wong is that he’s a Marvel player through and through, and as such unconsciously hypes the fuck out of absolutely everything. Hakan is “0 out of 10” means “I have not seen why I should use this character yet”.
Also, from the news thread.
The top part implies that most characters B&B’s got nerfed, so I don’t feel so bad about EX legs, although we’ll see. As for the far s.mp, fucking sweet. (of course I have no idea what they’ve actually changed, but still) but unless they’ve changed either the startup or the hit box of df + LK I’m not going to care.
I went back to listen to him earlier yeah I got that, I did’nt hear the last part at first, Justin is kind of a soft speaker. Hakan is nastier than he thinks and I think he 's gonna give Chun Li more trouble than one thinks. Which is why I thought he said the match was 0-10 in chuns favor, apparently he was only talking about how he feels about Hakan himself. We’ll see.
I read that translated quote too and if it it’s literal and true then that means that even though all character’s damage has been reduced, the low-tier characters will be getting nerfed more severly than the mid-top making them even worse?
i honestly think hakan is going to be pretty good… cant keep him from getting oiled unless you rush him down… and when hes oiled, hes looking pretty godlike… oldschool gief range on his throw better normals overall.
basically hakans fundamentals go WWWAAAAYY up when hes all greased up…his standing air grab thing will be more or less useless i think, but his slipping and sliding focus is some straight up bs… i dont know, getting in will eventually be hard for him i think. but he definitely has intersting pokes with MAD range… we’ll see how good his wakeup game is… that is what will make or break him… its not looking good right now, probably cause of all of that oiled command grab range.
What stops people from just turtling on him esp with characters who have better pokes/runaway tactics? Esp if the other char has a life lead on Hakan and ESP if they have a life lead on Hakan and Hakan is oiled up.
I don’t think his slide or even his good distance normals will really be a great way to close the distance. I can see players getting desperate to try to close the distance or having to run the clock with a life lead tbh. I don’t think he’s better or will be better than Gief and Gief already has some mean ass tuff matchups going for him…
I agree on Hakan. I think hes gonna play kinda like Honda with constant good normals backing ppl off.
Oiling up makes his normals so much better and focus so much better. His stamina helps too.
As for wake game, perhaps he can slide, EX slide, or perhaps ex grab. Obviously, the HAx Ultra helps.
Definitely glad on the Chun Li buffs.
Her Ultra doesn’t do too much damage but it is obviously useful extra damage starting from cr.lk.
As mentioned, damage reduction is really going to help Chun out.
I still feel though she may have a problem dealing big damage tho.
So this is the new talk about fighting Hakan thread? I’m cool with that.
I think the important part is going to be making him pay if he wants to oil up, either with damage, or making it so he can only do it after a knock down, which means he doesn’t get to pressure you on wakeup with his oily obscene range throws. I don’t see this being too hard at the start, the hard part is when he’s oiled up, so it’s dangerous to get close, but it’s about to run out, so you want to keep the pressure on.
To keep it kind of topic, I’m tempted to say we want Hosenka in this matchup in the hope you can dash Hosenka his oil up from full screen.
