I wasn’t even talking about Daigo specifically, I’m don’t find him a fun player to watch so I’m not as big on the stigma around Daigo.
The point is that I wasn’t talking about a top player in specific or a fighting game in specific, you made it sound as if good players lose to bad ones randomly.
What are these random things you’re implying, because something random seldom happens when I play?
The last thing I can remember was when I was close to ryu and he did focus, I did Chun c.mk x ex legs to break it but it just passed through him.
I wasn’t that surprised that it happened since lows will whiff occacionaly on Dictator and Zangief as well, it just hadn’t happened on Ryu doing focus before.
Her first ultra is good, the second is much better. the only use for her first ultra is against fireball charaters and blanka
Her Hosenka has many, many more uses than just against those characters.
I know her first ultra is good, but her second is so much better. I lost matches becuase the character didn’t pop up. plus her second ultra gives her better come back ability. Picking her ultra depends on the character ur going against
Looks like the news is good on my ol’ SF4 main…
Kikosho sounds like it will be my most probable go-to Ultra, seeing as I play a good mix of defensive and offensive with her, but Hosenka will still be an option nonetheless, especially for its fireball-passing properties and higher damage output.
The fact that no hard nerfs have been confirmed thus far puts my nerves at ease (a bit).
There will be a few characters that I want to try out for the laughs in SSF4 (Dudley, as he was my mess-around secondary in Third Strike, as well as Cody and maybe even that joker Hakan), but Chun will still be my main. She was hell as fun to learn and play with in SF4 and I’m sure it’ll be the same in SSF4…
O-O~
my bad i just realized my mistake I just meant that in Super im picking ultra 1 for those character
As I was reading through the comments I had this same thought. Perhaps we’re looking at it all wrong. Moving up the tier list doesn’t necessarily mean the nublets will flock to Chun.
I guess I would rather her be higher on the tier list and harder to play like Rufus, than lower on the tier list and scrub-friendly like Ken.
Who knows? Maybe we’re all wrong. For all we know it won’t make as much difference as everyone is thinking and the other characters will get bumped just as much. Everyone is taking TheWizard’s interpretation as if it’s set in stone, and it’s not. It’s just one man’s interpretation.
I guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and save my judgement until the game releases.
Rufus, well, had a lot of tourneyscrubs, I don’t know where they went. He wasn’t huge online, but he was kind of like Balrog for a while. More importantly, watching Rufus is groan inducing, because he has so much stupid shit. I don’t really want that situation where tournament players just sort of roll with Chun, get run over all day then just win with Kikosho anyways. She can’t abuse much else reliably though, so eh, it should probably be okay.
I can’t really imagine a good reason not to pick her new ultra. Ultras were the most glaring reason separating the top tier from the mid tier. Chun’s inability to combo into her ultra midscreen, or on certain characters in the corner effectively relegated her to top mid tier at best. Hell, she still does well despite having her current ultra.
Even before Mr. Wizard’s comments, it was fairly apparent that Chun’s new ultra made her much more scary.
I agree that though MrWizard’s early insight into the game is useful at this stage where any info is good info (or bad, depending on who you main), it’s important to remember that we really don’t know enough to determine whether Chun-Li (or any other character for that matter) will rise in the tiers, let alone whether she’ll be whored out for the supposedly simple EX Legs > Kikosho.
Also, one shouldn’t be too worried about Chun-Li potentially being noob-friendly and tier-whored. Things like this happen all the time in any fighting game. There will be those who will drop her in a flash once people find the definitive easy-mode character of SSF4, while the rest of us who enjoy playing as her will continue to do so. It’s the natural cycle of any newly-released fighting game, especially one which doesn’t have a prior arcade release to gauge it against.
O-O~
Agreed hopfully we can ask some questions about her tonight on Wake Up SRK! only thing is people will have just as many questions about the new characters and such than old characters.
Don’t worry about it, but to touch on my example that randomness with your experience with Ryu is sorta of what I was getting at. But I guess it was just misunderstandings on both of our parts or maybe just mines, dont’ matter. But anyways, lets move on tho. Im really excited for the new Ultra 2 and how it will change up her game a bit. I also would like to ask questions on Wake up SRK! about her specifics, we know a heck of a lot about U2 but I want to know if her sr.RH is true and stuff and if her U1 can Juggle better in corners and such, as well as her health and damage output.
Yea, I’m glad I picked up Chun, seems like she’s going to be much stronger in Super. It’ll be nice to have her to fall back on if the new fighters, don’t end up working with me. I still want to try the 3sers, Dee-Jay, Juri, Cody, and Adon tho (Basically all of them besides T.Hawk.). Come on April!
i’m glad that i picked up chun li two months b4 supe omes out
Wow the Ryu and Guile threads are heating up. Looks like CHun lucked out in this iteration. Everytime one of us asked a question about chun it came out positive. They think that Chun could be top 3 hands down.
Mirror matches againts newbie chuns are gonna be a lame fest cuz we are gonna have to wait out ex legs mashing constantly until it’s safe to approach her, also means no more hazenshu’s either againts chun, sigh. I can’t wait to see how this is gonna end up. I can’t wait to play SSFIV now.
I also went over to the Guile threads, gave them some pep talk, they seem to be feeling better, sun glasses and all.
On the bad side, ex SBK does’nt trap them in the corner although I think they just did’nt test it right because you hae to time it a certain time to actually keep them in the corner so I don’t believe this find, what happend in SSF4 ex sbk happens on vanilla now if done wrong.
Yeah, EX SBK has always required proper spacing to keep most characters in the corner…I doubt that has been changed.
I’m pretty excited, but I really do feel bad for Guile and Claw players…lets hope that Guile got some subtle buffs (like range on normals) that no one has noticed yet. Things like slight increases on the range of his st.fierce would be really hard to notice unless he is your main.
totally agreed
her Ex.Legs > 2nd ultra is very easy setup
it will make he popular among newbies
Well, there’s always the Chun-li tier seesaw effect. Awesome in Alpha 2, meh in Alpha 3, very strong in MvC1, low tier in MvC2, meh in CvS1, high upper tier in CvS2, uber in 3rd strike. But yes, Chunster has a history of being god tier in spurts.
On a side note, what are the opinions for the new costumes? I thought it was okay in the trailers, but on closer inspection with the new stills, I’m not feeling them so much.
Most of the new costumes suck. I for one didn’t want to see another bare-legged alt. for chun since she already has one and it’s 100x more alluring then this new one. I was hoping for workout pants or another spandex outfit similar to her alpha attire.
Seth, Juri, and Ryu also have pretty bad alts.
Agreed…I wanted to see:
Police uniform chun.
Alpha chun.
Chun vs Vega shower fight from SF2 the animated movie chun.
Chun in motorcycle racing gear (not sure why, I just think it would look cool).
