yup it can

also mp ex legs is something ive been whoring out recently takes alot f people by suprise as nobody has really seen it before

niiiiiiice… now i can land my ultra every f round…

now everybody will watch out for S-tier chun

Oh yeah…they were talking about character models, not moves. She has a different face in every version of SFIV. The portrait is still based off the beta face, as far as I can tell, which is why it doesn’t look a damn thing like her in-game one.

None of them were honestly half as bad as some of the shit that made it into the final version for other characters. The beta version was a bit more old school ST/Alpha style of facial proportions, which is different in 3D, anyways, the arcade version one is basically the shape of her current one but flatter and less made up detail-wise, then the console version rounded it out and brought the shine, putting her facial model on the level of a console exclusive character like Cammy or Sakura. (the rest of the body, not so much)

Meanwhile Ken still looks like a fucking retard with glued on legs and Blanka’s hair still clips during his idle animation.

Marvel in amazement at Chun Li’s not so floaty jump, funky fight intro that includes the classic bow and C.Viper’s not entirely worse beta face and distinctly less hamburger like rack.

Then try to avoid a seizure as the gaming media seems unable to not hold the stick up. I guess Viper’s boobs got canned for the same reason Ibuki’s “hip window” got shrunk.

Chun is solid in a lot of ways, in theory. Everyone who plays Chun already knows her biggest problems are anti air and focus fishing. The problem isn’t that she can’t deal with them in various ways, just that her ways of dealing with them vary wildly with the player’s execution in any given situation and her punishment doesn’t really give her much momentum.

Her standard anti-air st. mk, both of them, are pretty solid. Even if they trade the reset gives you time and space and mix-up opportunity from the reset (and reversal hsu armor breaks if you trade). But the damage is so weak, it hardly makes anyone fear her ground to air. The risk/reward is highly based on the Chun’s skill, and even if the player is consistent, jumping in on her for momentum or to corner her doesn’t put you at much risk for damage.

This is why I hope she gets command up-kicks. If she can at least knock-down, even on trade, it will make people think twice about bullshit jump-in tactics that can just make the game not fun for Chun.

I want legs to push her forward more, like Honda and Gen’s hands. They push back so much, it’s very difficult to use legs effectively in mid-range and then they just end up becoming very unsafe when you whiff 3 kicks. I think she should get combo opportunities from it. It doesn’t have to be as good as mk xx hands, but she should at least be able to connect all 4 kicks if the first one hits. It takes enough practice/skill to use legs in solid play that players should be rewarded by having normal legs actually be useful in poke strings. It would at least give her something that has an increased chance of working against focus fishing that doesn’t blow meter on a guess and still puts you at risk for counter-hit lvl 1 focus (st. mp > ex legs).

If hsu armor broke, that would be kinda bullshit. Chun mirrors are fucked as it is. xD hsu is really safe, and it’s a guaranteed mixup on block against reversals that need down charge. focus needs to be a counter for it, imo. imagine if buttslam armor broke. if short hasanshu could combo off of cl st. rh (make it a frame faster), I wouldn’t complain tho.

One thing I hope she gets but I don’t think they’ll add is her mini kikosho, like she had in MvC. I think that would add a lot of spice to her and anti-fireball game, and would be fun to use if it’s a command move.

I don’t think these things would drastically change the way Chun plays. It would just make her opponents not do so much what they should be doing sparingly anyway.

Actually in the Akuma thread theres a lot of rage right now over the fact that not only did he get roflcopter for Ultra II but apparently theyre under the impression that the Demon got a damage nerf as well. With the talk that ultra damage was nerfed in general, its entirely possible.

It would be nice if the strongest woman in the world could at least have average health, but Im not really counting on Ono & Friends suddenly abandoning their vagina = weak rule in the name of balance.

Hmm, yep you are correct. I cant believe it but I didnt even realize it only launched on counterhit. I guess it makes sense since I honestly never use the move intentionally so all of the sparse times Ive thought back that Ive actually hit with it were counterhit, just because of the kinda flukey nature of the situation, I suppose.

So yeah, I concur. Either fix it so its actually viable/has a use or just get rid of it.

I can see Chun as high tier in SFIV, so with the buffs she’s getting there’s just no way she’s going to be weak.
If you wanna be unique, stop playing the most popular SF-character in Japan.

I’d give her high-mid. I didn’t say she’s weak, and if she gets anti-air and anti-focus buffs, she’ll definitely be -strong-. But her anti-air is mediocre and the damage is weak. Maintaining anti-air spacing is difficult without being backed into the corner when she has to deal with random focus fishing on the ground.

I’m not a fan of making legs move forward. They aren’t working “right” in SFIV, but that’s not the way they’re not working right. Go back and play pretty much any other game, and even 3rd Strike, and what you’ll find is Legs:
[]Do a crapload of damage per hit
[
]Cause tons of block and hit stun

Push back really far per hit, but it takes long enough you can hit them again while they’re still being pushed
What that meant, is if you got a deep/corner/whatever jump-in to 3 or 4 hits of medium or heavy legs, it hurt like hell, and even if you only got 1 or 2 hits they were still pretty safe because your opponent would still be recovering and a long ways away to punish while you whiffed. Plus which if they got pushed out early there was really nothing they could safely respond with and not get hit other than a super. The way Chuns would do meaty legs after super in the corner in 3rd Strike and then get pushed back out of sweep range if it was blocked is an example, while only EX Legs get you much distance in SFIV. Legs in SFIV do really bad pushback and stun on each hit, but the multi-hits eventually shove them back by stacking instead of each one being able to move them 2-3x as far if it were the last hit. So you can still get the same number of hits during the attack, and more consistently, but the last hit is much less safe and you do really bad damage without getting all or nearly all of them.

I would agree with them just pushing back on the last hit. My main beef was with her whiffing the last 3 hits, making them unsafe vs block/on-hit/focus at midrange, which I think is just dumb for sf4 Chun. It would be great if they did more damage and stun, since it is pretty bad. I’m on the fence about more hit-stun. Just cuz if she had just 1 more frame advantage, she’d have a link into fadc dash ultra I. On the one hand it’s technically hard even if she had more advantage. But then, she’d have a solid link into non-juggle ultra and I dunno if the masochistic sf4 chuns would be down with that.

Wow, everything was so different back then. Chun’s hands were wtflol huge while Viper looked more like Angelina Jolie. The HUD and announcer was totally diff-

-HOLD UP… you mean to tell me that Chun’s J. HK and J. MP use to knock DOWN?! Possibly even setting up for a juggle?!

Screw all this other nonsense, gimme that. YJDK.

In that build, any counterhit air to air attack put the opponent in juggle state.

I, for one, am glad they changed Chun’s face from that version. It was very smug and also a bit manly. Viper’s tits must return to their former glory, though.

A fast sbk like that would be nice.

Oooooh I see. I can dig it. That would be a bit much if every air to air counter hit led to an Ultra (Ryu and Sagat say ‘Hi’).

I kinda want to play the earlier builds now though. They seem to have some interesting quirks to them. I also wanna see how good some of the characters were before/each time they got tweaked.

I don’t whine about Chun getting better, I’m worried about Chun still being fun to play for me.
I think I’m one of the few Chun players who doesn’t keep complaining about her being weak, having bad match-ups, losing to bullshit, and so on (and I lose to bullshit too as much as everyone). But I just like this character, how she plays, her unique ultra and the fact that she’s really hard to master…and I didn’t pick her because chinese girls and big thighs turn me on or something like that, but only because she’s fun to play.
So, even if they make her top tier, if I don’t find her funny or challenging to play anymore I’ll have to change main…and I don’t want that. Even giving her a Shoryuken FADC ultra would make her better but I’d drop her for sure.

I hope this clarifies what I’m talking about when I’m worried about Chun’s new ultra. That’s just my opinion though.
Yea probably I’m a bit a mid-tier whore lol

This is exactly how i feel. Plus the feeling of overwhelming self worth when i destroy a Sagat will disappear if Chun’s bumped up a tier or two, hah.

Didnt some1 say, in the SF4 loke test, EX SBK would vaccum in like EX tatsu, and he reported it as OP and thus ability got removed lol

Also, I hope they remove downforward LK, improving a normal move tends to be fail.

No mid tier pride here man, I say buff the crap out of her, I’d love to finally see a chun in the top 3 at a major.

Even if they buff her, she will still not attract the kind of braindead idiots that all flock to Ken.

:d :d :d

No offense man, I didn’t mean to say that all ken players are idiots, just that a lot of idiots just happen to like ken.

I have a lot of respect for anyone who plays ken well, especially guys like Dr. Chaos.

I’m just trolling. I can’t really talk, since I second Chun. I didn’t take offense at all.
