The Return of the Thigh: Chun-Li SSF4 Thread

I don’t think this version has any of the buffs to the characters themselves cept the Sagat nerf, just their Ultra’s. I might be mistaken, but when I saw Chun-Li she looked exactly the same outside of her new move.

I’d really like to see her AA get beefed up, and Sbk without a bar not getting stuff, DP’d and thrawted everytime I use it. As it is currently the only real way to use it is to just combo it, and even then its not as good as I remember.

One other thing I’d like to see is a bit more forgiveness, not in her execution but in her openings. Chun-Li really feels the brunt of a mistake and when things get tense its really easy to get killed with her. Considering all the nice moves, and characters she’s gotta face down in this new edition, I think just alittle of this would put her even higher up.

My impressions from fight club:

 • Second ultra is Kikosho as many of us expected. It is a great combo move but, much to my surprise it got beat by an EX Snake Strike even though I guess right and activated second, we traded and I got knocked out of the tournament.
 • Kikosho can combo mid screen from EX Legs
 • Kikosho can combo after up kicks then dash
 • Kikosho can combo after she lands from air target juggle
 • Kikosho can combo after EX SBK in the corner
 • Original Ultra seemed to connect MUCH more consistently from mid screen. I saw EX SBK juggle ultra and a few times
 • I am sure there are some frame differences but I honestly couldn’t really study the changes to be sure

and if you haven’t seen Chun’s Kikosho, look at this one: http://www.youtube.com/user/Boysskat.../4/R2RD_LmlI_0

As far as changes for Chun:

 • Her Kikosho is excellent Ultra to combo into.
 • EX Legs gets more or less hits dependent on how many cr. LK you did before that.
 • Her Cr. MK is MUCH better.
 • Her St. HK is MUCH slower.
 • Kikoken (to me) seemed to take a little more time to charge…

Far HK nerfed!?

I loves that move

Also, none your links seem to work right now Peapo. I’m getting “Invalid username”.

you’re sure about hk? and check your links please

Your suggestions pretty much turn Chunli into Ryu. Some of her moves, like Spinning bird kick, are traditionally charged moves and are rarely otherwise. I do agree with Hazanshu if only to make it easier to do :wgrin:

New links: (Please let me know if these don’t work too)

Those work fine. The problem with the other ones is just that you’ve copied the ellipsis in the link across.

Is it just me, or does the Hosenka corner juggle slightly different on Ryu? It seems to knock him up slightly more. Hopefully that’s a side effect of changing it so it works on all characters.

We got Hosenka to connect for a lot more hits a bunch tonight, I don’t know about Peapo but I was able to get it off a mid screen upkicks pretty consistently. I think I only missed once but that was probably my timing and execution more than anything else. No to make excuses but I just don’t do well on square gates.

I think I saw Peapo connecting the EX SBK’s to Ultra mid screen but I could be wrong.

Kikosho hit off A LOT of shit, but the damage wasn’t all together that special. Just outside of corner I got EX SBK to Kikosho, the timing didn’t seem to bad with that. EX Legs was much easier though.

Thank you chunbelievable and peapo for posting up videos and impressions/info from the Fight Club. I wonder how much more tweaking she’s going to go through before the game comes out. As much as I was looking forward to Kikosho, part of me wonders how useful it is if her Hosenka now combos better and still has the speed and range to punish people, especially if it’s just going to trade with other moves. But time will tell I suppose.

If it deals around 340 damage, so that cr.lk>cr.lk> ex legs>kikosho combo deals around 400 damage, I will be satisfied.

Im on my Phone, edit button doesnt appear, I wanted to know if you ve seen any wall bounce with her old moves?

Hey, Chunbelievable.

Yes, I did manage to pull off a EX SBK into Ultra against T. Hawk and it connected altogether.

Very fun game though guys, I wish you guys were there. It was a pretty small room. Also, Chunbelieveable, we gotta play more because I live in North town too

P.S. I did a wake up ultra (kikosho) on an Abel doing an EX wheel kick and the kick went through. It didn’t even trade :frowning:

P.S.S. Wall bounce wasn’t existent as far as I knew. I saw nobody bounce off walls because of moves…got me wondering too.

Excellent stuff. I was pretty hesitant about Chunners’ new Ultra but after reading this - and watching the videos - I’m more than happy with it.

I cannot wait for this game!

Hasanshu’s hitbox shortened on recovery or Adon has a weird focus?

Nothing will satisfy you more when you connect EX Legs, into EX Legs, into EX SBK into Kikosho. (corner)

My friend and I were just staring at the life bar go from full to about 7/10’s gone.

You leave me drooling…

Quick question, can you now link EX Kikoken off launch kicks? It always seemed like you should have been able to. Well, I* wanted *to be able to!

I didn’t test it, maybe if you’re lucky Chunbelievable did, but other than that, as far as I know, no.

Are you sure that St. HK is much slower? Seems to me like it has the same speed. Would definitely be sad if that move was nerfed.

Yeah, lets be a bit careful before we declare that anything has changed or been nerfed, its going to be a WHILE before we are able to determine those things (and also they are still making changes).

All we can say for sure right now is that she looks basically the same, but with a new and awesome ultra, and possibly a fixed Hosenko juggle.
