Looking at a few of the videos I think I saw hazanshu link into c.lp (c.lk also) without a counterhit. Anyone else notice that or am I just kidding myself?
It does that now.
How could I forget that? >.> My mind isn’t where it should be today. Maybe I was just grasping for something new so hard I forgot the obvious. Sorry
lol no worries man, happens to me all the time.
Maybe you were thinking of the fact that you can only combo INTO hsu off counterhit, which I assume will not change or it would probably be WAY op. The damage potential would be crazy good.
Here’s my experience with Chun at fight club.
Chun:
- Second ultra is Kikosho as many of us expected. It is a great combo move but, much to my surprise it got beat by an EX Snake Strike even though I guess right and activated second, we traded and I got knocked out of the tournament.
- Kikosho can combo mid screen from EX Legs
- Kikosho can combo after up kicks then dash
- Kikosho can combo after she lands from air target juggle
- Kikosho can combo after EX SBK in the corner
- Original Ultra seemed to connect MUCH more consistently from mid screen. I saw EX SBK juggle ultra and a few times
- I am sure there are some frame differences but I honestly couldn’t really study the changes to be sure
- Macc recorded my tourney match so hopefully he will post it soon, I didn’t play particularly well but I suck on a square gate on the first 6 buttons
Here’s my match. Please know that I do not jump that much or telegraph Hasanshu either. I am really not comfortable on a square gate and ball top and I didn’t think to bring my stick with me.

All in all a great time. Crazy busy and very little experimenting because dudes were out for the W’s ass opposed to learning. Peapo got a good amount of shit accomplished with her. I player more with Guy and Gen last night.

Guys, there’s a video against Josh, who played T. Hawk against me in the quarter finals with my Chun. Thanks to the recording guy for recording
Thanks for the video Peapo. At 5:32 you did Hosenka after EX Legs but the whole thing didn’t connect. Makes me a bit worried now… Come on Capcom, give Hosenka full juggle properties against everyone in the cast!
I’m seeing several 5 hit SX SBKs there, and a couple of 3 hit ones as well. :shake: I can’t personally tell if it’s different.
EX SBK is my single biggest concern for ssf4 chunner.
I have heard so far:
It got nerfed on horizontal range.
It got nerfed on the # of hits (I greatly suspect this is a misunderstanding).
It got better for dealing with jumpins.
What I really want to know: Will every character in the game still be able to stuff it with a deep crossup? I am sick to DEATH of that shit not working on things like Ken’s crossup light kick.
My main hope is that it got better at dealing with directly-above attacks… o_o;;;
In one of the stream videos, she beat out Honda’s EX Butt Slam in the corner, which was directly above her. Did it always do that? I can’t remember to save my life, and I haven’t fought a decent Honda in a while…
Overall, I’m happy so far with what was shown… It looks like it’s business as usual with her, with the added bonus of a more reliable and easier to combo (if somewhat less damaging) ultra…
Here’s to hoping… ^_^;;;
O-O~
EX SBK beating butt splash was possible but required it to be done very late, usually not worth trying. If it can still do that, even occasionaly, then I’m not feeling particularly worried about it.
Thish ish delishous…
This thread is sooooo pleasing. EX SBK dealing with jump in’s better was well deserved. I have a few desires for Chun that aren’t necessarily restricted to gameplay.
I would love to see:
EX SBK never, EVER being stuffed by any normals other than a sweep.
Headstomps being more usable. As it is now my most favorite thing in the game is TC to headstomps. I want more headstomp options. I am headstomp crazy.
Better animation on the Kikosho. I understnad that it’s still in development but it looks pretty messy right now and I remember the 3rd Strike Kikoshu having a really powerful wind effect on Chun’s dress and ribbons. It looked awesome and I hope they get it right!
Improvement on her new alt costume ^^ as in a whole new one. Like a stylized anime lady-cop outfit. Or something. ty.
With the introduction of the badassery that is Juri, I really hope they give Chun some more edge over the competition. Capcom’s leading lady has steep competition now… she needs to remain the world’s strongest u kno?
OH and when someone jumps INTO Kikosho, do they get thrown back or are they sucked into it like Rufus’s Ultra?
is chuns headstomp input still the same?
Ummm…as far as Kikosho goes, I didn’t test it out myself if it was a good anti-air or not, so I don’t have an accurate answer to that question.
And headstomp is still same input.
How could you go two games using just one LL attack? =) My life depends on EX LL ^^
I believe now it’s possibile to combo kikosho from CH d/f+lk…that would be nice (and finally a good use for that move)
Can anyone confirm this?
I think any of use of that would be negated by a more consistent, safer, and probably more damaging, c.lk, c.lk, ex legs, ultra combo which (from what we’ve heard so far), kikosho is supposed to combo into.
unless they buff d/f lk to make it safe on block, it’s a stupid situational link for kikosho. in the places it would be useful, ex legs and most likely, ex bird would work just as well.
^d/f+lk is a decent anti-air on predictable jump-ins. Right now you can combo ex legs and air-stomps near the corner
Taking a lot of the new info with a grain of salt at this point, but I am very excited about the new Ultra. I think it gives Chun a little more of the “kick in your teeth” factor she has been missing, imho.
