Okay then everyone but Nightmare Geese is playable…
Yeah Tungs crossup is real good, you just gotta train yourself to see it coming… (ie your instant anti air if you dont know how yet is EVADE with D go into the background or foreground and if he presses his button in the air you get a free Line Shift C into SUPER/COMBO! )he doesnt have Dive Kick like NGBC lol  so when hes in the air thats the main thing you gotta watch for…
yes sir, I think the neocart had a slight difference than the neocd and mvs versions.
Gotcha…
Also with Mai these people gotta know how to space…if they don’t yeah Mai dies…
Which tells me the people playing her dont know how to control the spacing…which means they don’t know how to play her!!!
Hell if they dont even know how to defend against Line Shift attacks in general it makes me worry…or if they just abuse multifan makes me worry even more…
(Multifan can put you OUT of range with Mai and in the others favor!)
Bottom line is shes gotta be played aggressively to fuck up the opponent…
I will give you the Mai battle you seek…
its a fun game, i kinda like both of them (rbs and rb2) it’s nice to finally get to play people in it instead of just the CPU
you should play Shinblanka online (and it records the match automaticly) to see how you stack against krauser and dbz fireball spewing Tung
Don’t forget the game’s “Blue, Midget Goku,” ChonRei.
His fireball can charge. Problem is, no one ever really stands still long enough for if to be used at max. =p
If you are gonna play against a Tung that spews fbs to space, you can sit there and do ryuenbus to build meter faster than him and use aerial down AB to close in on him also as well as evade, and patiently go in…
You building meter faster than him hes not gonna like…thus forcing him to close in and try to do lunge punch etc to get in close…
Also in regards to his super you can evade that and take a mimimal amount of hits… (His muscleman twirl one)
Also as I said in regards to his crossup, evade that shit, sure its hitbox is wide, but you can block it and evade and punish when he lands, that will teach him to not abuse that shit for fear of eating a Line Shift C into super.
Playing online right now is not a priority due to Grad School.
Hahah well he only did it once and i was like wtf is that shit
i only played with chonshu and billy versus him, but was only able to win with billy, and my wn rate so far is only like 1 in 10, but then again SB is the 2nd person i’ve played against in this game in 10 years :wgrin:
oh and nice matches today Kagerou, nice to play against someone who uses a variety of characters
is there any way to combo into mary’s super? I was trying to figure some stuff out but I might have to figure it out in 1p mode
Ahhh gotcha…well with Mai you got some spacing tools you gotta be aware of for anyone that does use her:
-Rising Flame
-Ryuenbu
-Kachosen
-Line Shift Sweeps
So before long hes gonna have to close in… or you will have meter very very fast…
In the Mai-Tung matches I’ve played against they end up going
to Time out lol because the Tung is so hell bent on getting his Lunge Punch combo and Mai played correctly can force someone to be VERY VERY PATIENT…
Besides, Tung doesnt wanna get in a close Line Shift battle with Mai, very few people do, so you gotta space her…because shes a monster up close.
-Dark Geese
After consideration, I think we should use Japanese rules for any RB game. (both RBSP and RB2) If I ever run anything, those are the rules I’m using.
Thanks.
I try to use as much of the cast as I can.
I still need to sit down and learn Bob.
Mai is by far my worst character. But I don’t much care as I only ever user her jokingly.
Would you say I’m improving any?
I’m trying to stay away from Kim. It’s getting boring using him.
Hon-Fu is becoming a favorite.
Joe is up here too in the fun category.
As are the Jin Brothers. If only the power drain didn’t leave me wide open.
EX Mary is growing on me. I just realized tonight that M. Spider is a dp move and not a qcf move. It worked that way on my pad. But the stick proves otherwise.
Billy is still my mainstay though. I need to learn the C pokes better, and work on my line sway.
EX Billy I don’t like as much. Pulling off those bait-and-counters is tricky with the timing. And I loose my offensive pattern…not that there’s much of one.
Terry is becoming my least favorite. He’s useful, and easy to use.
But everyone and their three year-old niece seems to be able to use him.
He’s just getting stale, like Kim is.
Still, that leaves a good gap in the cast that I have left to learn.
So still a lot of fun to be had in this game. =)
I hate Kim with a passion…I only use him as my main in Fatal Fury Special…other than that I cannot stand him…
Hes too fucking stale, same ass shit, never changing and always top if not near top tier…
I got bored of Kim quicker than Iori…
This thread encapsulates so much of what’s wrong with SNK at this point…
First off, I don’t think anyone here knows of any Japanese rules for RBS, because that’s a completely dead game there AFAIK. RB1 gets a lot more play…
And you know that Keits and I (at the very least) will put up resistance if you try to get DG to change the RB2 rules. This need on the part of SNK players to ban stuff is, in spirit, hardly different from what we’ve seen out of the Smash kiddies. And that is a major reason neither group is taken seriously on SRK yet. This is precisely what I have been working to change.
You claim the infinites will ruin the image of the game or somesuch; I think that comment shows that you haven’t been to a major in awhile. See, in reality, the crowd loves infinite combos; to use an analogy that you’ll understand, they’re like wrestling catchphrases in that they give the fans something rhythmic to chant along to.
That is a notable part of Marvel’s appeal, for instance. There’s also last year when Evo ran Melee - the ONLY thing that popped the crowd was the Ice Climbers throw infinite. As an aside, 3s accomplished this with the Genei-Jin combos (EI! EI! EI!), though that eventually grew old, and Guilty Gear and its derivatives inspire similar reactions with their long loops.
Now, obviously there is a limit to this, or else Alpha 3 and XvSF would still be in Evo. Note the examples I highlighted above - Marvel and Smash are both games with multiple “lives”, as it were, so an infinite won’t instantly win the match. This would seem to be a strike against RB2, but what saves it IMO is that the infinites in that game are far, FAR harder to land than those in any of the above mentioned titles. They’re rare enough that they don’t even come close to ruining the game and the crowd won’t get sick of them. A far cry from A3, for certain!
But to go even deeper than this, it seems like you think fighting games can be treated like the NFL: Put together your little competition committee and tinker with the rules every year. The difference is that all team sports, in their “purest” form, are so broken & boring as to make you beg for SvC Chaos, while there are a lot of fighters that do just fine on default settings. Any changes we could come up with would only make them marginally better and bring up all sorts of nasty slippery-slope issues. Hence, I don’t see the need.

i’m not a good judge because i’ve only played 3 human beings in rbs and not too many more in rb2
also don’t forget to use billy’s down attacks when you knock them down (d+S), i know i need to get the timing down with mary (i keep just jump kicking but i don’t know what combos it works after anyway)
cept for bobs RB2 infinite. that one IS too easy, but doesn’t ruin the game IMO. its just that if you get combod in the corner by a good bob, or thrown near the corner, your fucked. the reason i don’t consider it to ruin the game is cause even with it bob isn’t still nowhere near top tier in RB2. while rick is, but getting ricks infinite in RB2 is as rare as…
Also in regards to comboing into Marys super reg. Mary or EX syyx?
1st-i never like infin in any game snk or capcom. I can counter your arguement about infins. Those are glitches in programming the players found and abused. The programers never meant for unblockables to be in 3s. I know most new gameplay came from glitches. I know the cross up was a glitch or the 2 in 1 is a glitch that became normal gameplay. That’s fine because its not gamebreaking. The programers made the fixed 3S home version on the dreamcast and remove the unblockables and the players called it shit and said it wasn’t tournament worthy.
The samething happend with cvs2 on the xbox and gamecube. They took out roll cancelling and no one wanted to play the game even though it was the correct version of the game the programmers wanted cvs2 to play. The culture of all fighting gamers now is to find the glitch to win. Not learn the game and the correct way to play the game. I guess I’m in the minority, but I don’t like rc’s in cvs2.
Sorry but I don’t think a blanka ball should go through a level 3 SUPER! That’s bullshit imo. No normal special move should beat a lvl3 super! Yes everyone can do it, but that doesn’t make it right imo. That’s why I don’t play cvs2 anymore because I don’t agree with rc’ing not being gamebreaking. Why even have supers if sakura can fb through blanka’s lvl3 super?!?!?
I think rc’s are gamebreaking glitch, so I choose not to play it anymore
I’m sad about it too because I really like cvs2 pre-rc’ing. I even tried to play a few months ago, but I will never agree with rc’s so I choose not to play the game. You can tell me how it helped the gameplay and i’ll call bullshit everytime and there’s nothing anyone can say that will change my mind. People say it balance out the tiers and I call bs on that also. The only thing it did was putting iori and sakura in the top tier. Blanka, cammy, sagat, and bison are still the top 4 charaters in cvs2
Half of these debates about banning gitches would be null and void if people would just play the fix version of the game. Case and point with kofxi. You wouldn’t have to ban anything in kofxi if you would play the arranged mode! I think all of the ban shit in kofxi is fixed in arranged mode, but I’m no kof fan.
I wouldn’t compare any normal fighting game to a marvel game. Those games are in their own class of gameplay. Those games are sOoOo broken its not funny. They have always been broken, but people didn’t unlock the crazy shit until mvc2. Now when they go back to the older games and play it like mvc2 and those games are broken worst than mvc2. I respect mvc2 players and its fun to watch. Its the best game to watch for pure excitement imo.
Imo “Mvc2 is so broken it single handly changed the views of a whole generation of gamers that think broke shit equals fun shit!”
If MortalKombat 1 was released today people wouldn’t want to play the other 3 versions made in the arcade if it was up to the new generation of gamers. The 1st 2 versions of mk1 were broken as fuck. Glitchy as hell and they released 3 versions of mk1 in the arcade before they got it right. The 1st two versions were fun as hell and broken as hell, but midway tried to take out the gamebreaking glitches. I agree with this line of thought when it comes to fighting games, but I know I’m in the minority and I’m fine with that.
I conflict with my believes every year when throwing finalround on what/how fighters should played. I look at the standard rules for games and I laugh. We play a lot of broken shit when you sit back and take a good look at the games rules. I keep the same rules, so people can have worldwide structure for tournament play. Doesn’t mean I agree with the rules, but I will keep the order/structure of tournament play the way it is around the world. If there is a change to rules I will change fr rules to keep the structure the same as it is in other majors!
The slope is slippery on both sides imo. Don’t start banning stuff from games or you may fall down a slippery slope that you can never recover from and end up ruining a great game. Because one ban can cause you to ban other things until the game doesn’t play the same anymore!. I agree with this idea for the most part, but only if you are playing the fixed/finished game.
For games that doesn’t have another version they needs to be tested more imo. Most arcade version of the game has little to no play testing. The fixed version comes out and people won’t play it because its not arcade perfect. The funny thing is most tournaments in the usa are on console now. Japanese rules shouldnt apply to any american tournament because we are playing on 2 different platforms. If the arcade scene was strong in the usa like it was when I was growing up then yea it should be the same.
The only reason I would use japanese tournament rules are because I don’t want people to play 1 way at FR tournament and another way at another tournament. We play with gill in our tournaments or some dumbshit like that. they don’t play for money in japan. They play for pride and competition. I think sbo is the 1st major in japan that promoted winning money, unlike the usa tournaments.
Now I’m ranting. Damn I’m bored at work!
reg
i dunno, tried comboing off of k,k,d/f+S but it didn’t work, not sure if anything else works
i really like rbs mary a lot more than rb2, thats for sure
PS-people don’t respect snk games because we are on a CAPCOM fan website. Just like if I was on the tekken website trying to get more people to like 2d games. In the USA competitive gaming scene fighting games are at the bottom of the barrel compared to madden and fps imo! Snk is near the bottom of the fighting game scene. People don’t know about snk games and that’s why I want to have them at fr to open people eyes to snk. I do think there needs to be one standard rule set for snk games, so it won’t look so unorganized but that’s not the reason snk games don’t get the respect you think they should get. Its because they aren’t snk heads. They are capcom heads. Look at every new type game that has gain fans/players in the past 4 years. GuiltyGear was worst than snk. No one played the first gg. When ggxx came out it started to gain fans. Also there was no new games released, so people gave ggxx a try and the rest is history! The samething is starting with A.Hearts now. The only problem I see with snk games is that MOST of the BEST games on snk are older games! People want to learn a new game with sick graphics and sick air combos. People look at snk games as old and out dated and even though we know better than that the average fighting gamer knows nothing about snk games.
Well…shes got more to offer…as even though we are still discussing the tiers…as you can see pretty much everyone in this game is either S+, S-, A, or Bottom tier pretty much…
I’ll check on reg Mary when I get home…are you looking for S power or P?
