Hold on. You’re not allowing EX characters? Are they not a normal part of the game? You just need a code, right? They allow EX characters in KoF98, so why not in this? Can’t stand to see a legal character that even you think is better than Mai?
Also, when he was talking about line shifts not moving from the plane; he was talking about if the opponent jumps the line shift attack.
Well I’m going with Larry’s explanation on this one…having to put in a detailed code means you shouldnt be using them…
EDIT- Also if Mais not top tier guys I say shes as close as shes gonna get…
Meaning lets say Larry’s top five is the case…
Then I say S- goes to Mai, in her own class w/maybe 1 or two others (EX Mary if you wanna count EXs)…Shes CLOSE…without a doubt…Shes close enough to be borderline top tier without a doubt…
So for now lets say Mai is S-… I think you can widen the top tier to include her…
That wont stop me from going on a hell bent rampage  trying to win as many RBS tournaments as possible with “S- Mai!” as well as continue to get more one star ratings on RBS youtube vids due to me destroying my competition…
(Inside joke!!)
Meaning until otherwise proven, US Tier List has been altered to: (W/out Exs since they arent allowed in my tournaments!)
Guys, seriously, you should allow EX’s. Nobody ever banned all the Old Characters in ST, and this is pretty much the same thing!
As a matter of fact, in the Battle Archives 2 version, they took away the code; all you need to do is hold B+C and select the character!
More to the point, in every game I’ve ever seen, all characters were allowed as long as they were playable in the arcade and not horribly broken. I already mentioned ST old characters, and there are other examples - Akuma/Bison/Dan in Alpha 1, Evil Ryu & the old characters in Alpha 2, the secret characters in MvC1 (including a couple real powerhouses), the EX/Orochi characters in KOF98, Balrog/Juli/Juni in A3, and Grant & Kain in the arcade version of Garou. Hell, this goes all the way back to the very first playable secret character in a fighter: Ryo in Fatal Fury Special, who was always legal in competitive play from the very beginning.
What you guys are suggesting would be a huge exception, not the rule.
Actually, for that to work in BA2, you need to input the Geese code first.
Then you can use the “BC” and Select.
But on topic,
It’s lunacy to not allow EXs because of a code.
There’s always a chance to whiff this code.
And it’s not as though you’re unlocking “Demon”-Gouki-level characters.
You have as much of a chance against an EX character as you do any other character in the game.
But to listen to you talk, Dan would never be playable in Alpha 1 because of a code.
And it’s not as if Dan is overpowered.
DG: In umk3 you had to input codes to make mileena, c sub zero & ermac selectable at the choose screen.
fact is that 2 of them are actually bottom tier and ermac is top 6.
h smoke in the other hand needs a code to transform a regular char into that beast BUT still kabal beats him as the best char spot.
still for all the ones who care about umk3 for real, 85% of the cast can win a tourney or hold very well against the top tier guys.
geese not allowing nm geese is one thing, but not allowing ex characters seems like a real shitty idea. they are not overpowered, like nm, and they don’t even belong in the highest tier level (not all of em at least). in fact, even though they are chosen with a cheat, they are still the same as the kof 98 ex characters. namely, another version of the character. instead of a boss version or cheap version of a character. just my 2 cents. then again, i aint in the tournament, so who cares.
I’ve countered your arguements by playing against josh, but I do think you have valid points about the plane shift attacks. Mai by far has one of the fastest top C in rbs and with your rushdown style you are always in range to attack your foes weakness. I wonder how mai would do when she can’t control the spacing?
Ban the ex characters. They are meant for casual play only. They will be banned at frxii. Just so everyone can compete on the same level. I’m sick of playing against 1 billy. Fuck having the boss version of him in tournaments. If I allow the ex characters then I must allow nm geese and that shit aint never happening! You have to unlock geese to get the ex characters anyways so don’t use memory cards when you play rbs in the tournament
No they do not sir! You have to unlock nm geese to unlock the ex characters! You have to do the geese code to unlock the ex characters. That right there proves you shouldn’t play with the ex characters in tournament play because unlocking nm geese is the key to unlocking the rest of them. Just for casual play only. No memory cards during rbs tournament at FRXII will be enforced!:wgrin:
Ex characters in rbs are nothing like bust or slash version in ss4. Bust and slash are like the cvs2 groove system they STOLE from snk!:annoy: You choose what style you want to play. Nothing like ex code characters! You see nm geese is the key to everything in rbs. If you allow ex characters then nm geese should be playable in tournament play also. He’s a code character just like the rest of them. Most of you haven’t even played this game and your trying to argue with me about what should or shouldn’t be allowed in tournament play!:arazz::arazz::annoy: I find this kinda amusing in a funny dumb type of way. But all jokes aside the ex characters will be ban at FRXII. If that makes you not want to play rbs at FRXII then i’m sorry, but those are the rules.:arazz:
I’ve played in rbs tournaments back in the day that I didn’t run myself and all of the ex characters were banned! That includes nm geese because he code character also. Matter of fact he is the character that unlocks the ex characters, so when you ban nm geese you ban the rest of the ex characters.
Yes guy and ken run that game with the regular character in a1, but bison, akuma, and dan are good as fuck. Dan is very very very good in A1. That’s why capcom made a point to make him shitty in every other game he was in in the future. Dan was suppose to be a joke character making fun of snk characters, but he ended up being good as shit. Kinda like sean in sf3 ng and 2nd impact. No way this joke character is better than ryu!!! Fuck that shit nerf that fool in every game he is in from now on!!!
Akuma in A1 is a step below ST akuma and A1 bison is a step below CE bison. Both are easily the best in A1 imo. Now I wasn’t apart of the old school a1 nyc vs cali scene, so an old school a1 player may have something say on this A1 subject. All I know is I wish a2 bison was as good as a1 bison. Autogaurd is what should have been banned in a1. It was like having an auto parry move.
dude ive been playing RBS competitively since 96. NOT having the ex characters in tournaments is retarded. not to mention comparing them to NM geese? wtf, thats a bit too much. don’t you think so? especially since they are not even the s-class in RBS to begin with. 2 ex characters are worser than their normal counterparts. mary and billy are just as able as their OG counterparts. andy is just as good, and ex tung is shit.
take kof97 for instance. with the codes you can unlock the orochi characters AND orochi leona & iori. the orochi team isn’t overpowered and a cheat to play with. while orochi leona and iori are way too overpowered and are not used in tournaments, O yashiro, chris and shermie are used. even though they are all unlocked with a code.
What’s all this about BA2? Everyone saying you have to put in Geese code first. I’ve never put in any code (didn’t even know about any codes), and I can choose EX characters by just holding Punch+Jolt and then selecting the character.
I think the most comparable situation to this is Last Blade 2. In that game you have to pick Power or Speed mode for your character, but you can use a code to get a hidden 3rd mode called EX that combines the two but takes twice as much damage. You can also use a code to play as the last boss. Yet the EX mode is allowed while the boss is banned. I don’t see why the same idea shouldn’t apply here.
More to the point, Larry, if this is about fairness and being on an equal level, how about if we run a poll? If the majority of the players want EX characters, then it would be less fair NOT to allow them. Yes, that would force players like yourself & ninjamatt to adjust, but you may be forcing far MORE people to adjust if you keep those rules.
And DG, it’s never a good argument to use a set of rules just because somebody else does. By your logic, we should ban the infinites in RB2 since Japan does, and we should all agree not to pick Old Sagat.
You don’t need to completely standardize things, plain and simple.
