The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

I no longer have pictures, but we had people who’s cased failed and gas strut broke off from their plastic anchors in the case, another person had the case failed around the hinges.
No to mention almost everyone had issues with the eject button’s cover breaking off with the slightest provocation.

The case on its own without being handled is prone to failing at critical points in the case construction.
hence why my Review of the Atrox got updated with a 180 degree change in the reveiw.

Edit: Whoops

Hey everyone, I don’t know if anyone would be willing to help me out at all? I’ve got the 360 Atrox, I play on PC (I’m useless, but I have fun) and the cable’s knackered. My understanding is the best thing to do is to replace the proprietary usb connection with a neutrik a/b one (I don’t need to add any additional pcbs or anything, happy with the stick as it is except for the dodgy cable) and I’m comfortable putting the hole in for that but I’m rubbish when it comes to soldering so what will be the best way to connect the neutrik passthrough to the board? I see the pcb has a usb header on it so could I just get a 5 pin terminal block, cut a usb lead down to size and do it like that? Or can you get short USB A to jumper wires leads anywhere(I’ve looked, but found nothing)?

You most likely have to make your own PCB to USB adapter, if you can’t solder look into crimp connectors.

Cheers for the suggestion. I think I will give soldering a header socket onto a cut down usb cable first though despite my earlier statement(seeing as I already have a soldering iron)… at least it doesn’t put the pcb at any risk and I can’t be hopeless at this sort of thing all my life, it should be easy. If you don’t mind me asking another question, as you seem to know your stuff, do you need to do anything to shield the cable at all? Like if I cut down a usb lead and strip the outer insulation and shielding a bit just to get to the wires to stick the header socket on, will the unshielded bit be likely to cause any problems?

Best recommendation is connect the shield to ground

get your shield wire braid were you twist it with another wire, and cut your ground wire a little short, have them both attach to the ground wire going to your header.

So like what this dude has done yeah?

Thanks for your help, Darksakul. Cheers.

Exactly. Thats a perfect example.
I would of cut the ground wire shorter, splice it into the shielding and cover the whole thing in heat shrink tubing but that is just me.

Excellent, one last silly question if you don’t mind. Is it best when putting a neutrik usb into the Atrox to put it in sideways to stop the lid clipping the rubber boot or the metal housing whenever you open it, or am I missing something?

As long as it in there secure, what ever works for you.

Cool, got it done and it’s good as gold, Thank you very much for your help and your input, cheers mate.

First of I have 0% electrical knowledge so I apologise for any stupid word mistakes etc .My x360 razer stick wouldn’t turn on this morning. I’ve been reading through tons of threads to see how to fix and can only work out that It’s probably the cable so I need to install a neutrik a/b connection.
Upon lookin over the forums I can’t work out how to connect the neutrik to the stock pcb (if that’s the right word lol) all I’ve seen is them been fitted into case is it possible or will I have to buy another mod any help much appreciated as these sticks don’t come cheap and really need to fix!

Heya mate, sounds like you have the same problem I did. Just below the usb connector on the PCB there’s a USB header, you can to buy a short USB A to USB Header socket cable to go from the Neutrik passthrough directly to the pins on the board, I couldn’t find one when I first looked but recently I saw them on ebay like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-2-0-A-male-plug-to-1x-5Pin-Female-0-1-USB-header-PCB-motherboard-cable-/272233767612?hash=item3f6265a2bc:g:al0AAOSw9ZdXKyy5 so I got one of those rather than mess about with soldering or crimping in the end. But of course you can cut a usb cable down and make up a similar cable yourself.

I found it a bit tricky finding a spot for the PCB after installing the neutrik passthrough where it wasn’t in the way of the stick or the buttons, I got rid of the top plastic cover and just screwed it down as close to the neutrik as I could, with the USB A plug overlapping the pcb. Bit messy but it works.

I put the neutrik in sideways so the lid wouldn’t clip when I opened it.

It might be easier to just drill an entirely new hole, rather than removing plastic around the square opening, and leave the old PCB exactly where it is, if you never ever use the select button you could just pop the button out, poke it through there and drill the two bolt holes.

Hi thanks for the help @Drunk_Si really appreciated your information was exactly what I was lookin for I ordered the cable from your post and a neutrik a&b supply. I hope this sorts my problem as my stick has no power when I plug it in I haven’t checked the cable I’m just assuming it’s that so fingers crossed.
I think I may try an put it were the select button is if u think that would be easier.
Thanks again.

I only use Razer’s products because they make gaymer gear for real gaymers such as myself!

So I’ve just fitted the neutrik a to b up connected everything and still no power is there any way of knowing if my main board has gone or anything else this could be really need a fix.
I can’t go back to pad now itching to play some sf5!

mare sure your power and ground connections are good

@Darksakul I’m not sure we’re to locate the ground and power connections have no electrical knowledge I’m trying to post up a pic of what I’ve done but can’t even do that as its asking for picture url when I plug the xb360 Astrinto my pc now it says usb device not recognised the last sub device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it

Also When my stick is plugged in the pcb feels really hot I’m not sure if this is normal as I have never felt this before

post a pic please
